Vapes - what are they good for? Absolutely nothing

Besides the fact that they are blatantly aimed at children and getting them hooked with their colours and flavours (having two teenage children, I'm very aware of this), not to mention how moronic grown adults look puffing out plumes of white smoke and sucking on them like a baby's toy, plus the fact they could have even worse health side-effects than cigarettes, we now find that the used units are increasing land fill at a rate of knots.

Ban the lot of them - possibly have some prescription only if they are proven to help heavy smokers etc.

They're proven to help quit smoking so are saving a lot of lives and money.

I see less kids vaping now than I did smoking 30 years ago. It's just the latest 'think of the kids' moral panic innit.

I know a lot of friends who used them to quit smoking but are now vaping more than they ever smoked, infer from that what you wish

I've no issue with people using them to stop smoking or as an alternative whilst trying to stop, it's the fact that these disposable ones are deliberately aimed at a very young audience to get them hooked, having never touched a cigarette - bubble gum, strawberry ice-cream flavours etc, very sad. Sadder that some grown adults think it's cool to smoke these flavours too.
Great that less kids smoke cigarettes now, it's a shame people are trying to cash in on other forms of smoking.

Having watched Tv today, the biggest problem with Vaping is, where to get rid of the Vape after use.
If all people would use the various bins around the place it would be better.
Instead they appear tro just chuick them any where.

Long story short mate. I was shot in Helman and suffer from severe pain ever since. But I got a vape filled with cannabis oil and the only think that works for pain relief. Agree ban them for under 21s.

"Just chuck them anywhere" a bit like the ignorant smokers who just chuck their disgusting dog ends all over the place!

Smoking either the weed or the electronic needs to be banned, it is nothing but a health hazard no matter how you look at it, all this "vaping" is going to cause as much if not more health issues as time goes on for those inflicted.

Disgusting habit.

For those using them to give up or replace smoking, brilliant. However, my young colleague and her friends, who have never smoked, are really into their pop flavour vapes. Can you not make them without the nicotine for this group of users?

There’s a huge sustainability/recycling issue for single use vapes.

They can’t be easily recycled as they contain lithium batteries. The process is not straightforward to recycle, and thus it’s more expensive.

Also Councils say they’re a danger as when they’re compressed during waste processing, the batteries can cause fires.

So they’re a problem given the volume of the things and the increasing popularity.

The Local Authorities have called for a ban. Scotland is considering a ban. They’re to be banned in France by December 2023. The EU is banning them from 2026.

Therefore it’s pretty inevitable they’ll be banned everywhere sooner rather than later. We don’t want to be on the ‘later’ side, otherwise the UK will be targeted with the surplus stock.

In addition to the environmental factors, single use vapes are more easily accessible for younger people as they’re less expensive.

Whilst I think vaping is a better option for a smoker, it’s not good for youngsters to start vaping. The medical community generally think they’re safer than smokingx but they’re not entirely safe. There’s still health risks and impacts, and some of these are not yet fully understood.

I’m summary:-
1)I’m ok with vaping for adults, especially as an alternative to smoking (though we need to keep monitoring the health risks).

2. we need to ban single use vapes asap.

I'm not for banning them, freedom is important, even though smoking in all its forms baffles my understanding; but the blatant and obvious targeting of children with flavours and advertising that makes an ice cream van look adult oriented, is like something devised by a comedy villain and must be stopped immediately IMO.

Not that nicotine is an issue, no more than caffeine anyway, but my juice comes with zero nicotine, which I then add separately to the bottle - or you can leave without. Most non disposable vape kits use the same method with the juice.

The problem is disposables.

You have to laugh. The BBC have just reported that the Tory party are defending a £350,000 donation from a vaping company.

Incredible. Nothing is out of bounds for the Tories. What a dispicable bunch they are.

Just give the nation a general election to put them out of their misery.
You really don't know how to spell despicable do you?

There a lot of words in the English language. I am sure that there are plenty of us that have words that for whatever reason evade us. And AVFTT really isn't somewhere I am too concerned about using an incorrect vowel.

That said I would rather make a thousand spelling mistakes and be mentally stable than be an antagonistic, petty, slightly unhinged old jerkoff.

About time people used their will power and quit these pointless drugs, that have no benefit until hooked and then you need them to feel normal.

Even then you just pack it in.

Mind over matter.

Remember when Blair took a £1million pound donation from Bernie Eccleston and the decision to ban smoking advertisements and sponsorship was delayed. Nothing is out of bounds for any politician.

I don't remember no as we've had the same government for over a decade.

Fancy a pint later?
Not a big drinker, infact hardly ever now.

Bit of a different comparison anyway, as booze actually does something to you.

Fags do nowt, until you're hooked.

It's like a shit heroin, hooked and yet no upside, at least junkies seem to be sent to a happy place... 🥴
