We’re not continuing with restricted away ticket sales nonsense again

Are we? Wigan took 4K to Bolton Saturday but only been given 2k for the Blackpool game. If that’s all they’ve requested then fair enough but if we’re playing silly buggers again and not letting them have more it beggars belief. Why should 2 thousand Wigan fans miss out on watching their team if demands there, adds massively to the atmosphere as well, funnily enough think we’d be better with a raucous atmosphere in the ground. Can we afford to ignore 2 thousand 20 quids?

They took more than 4000 to Bolton.
They had both the lower and upper tier behind the goal.

Home advantage is worth keeping so it’s the correct decision imo.
Don't post nonsense let's throw 2000x £26 in the bin because it MAY give the away team an advantage yet 2021/22 season we beat Birmingham, Barnsley & Blackburn when they sold out the whole of the East.

Stoke was one of our best performances at home and they took over the East in February.

We lose its because we're crap or win good fuck all to do the amount of aways tickets we sell.

If the demand is there for home fans(Nobbers) rightly so our fans should get them first that's why I have no issue what PNE have done last two times at their gaff but to have an empty stand when Wigan want them is bloody pathetic.

Dead right couldn’t have put it better myself. Not only that it’d be another 2000 people who’ll probably spend the day in the town spending money. Football is all about crowds and atmosphere without it its just soulless like Fleetwood home games

And last season the record was bad and we went down. Opinions eh.
Teams historically win more at home, so it’s a fact home advantage helps, most people realise it.

Around 50k down the drain because it might affect the result(bull)yet when we play at Wigan we'll get the whole of the away end.

Er because we where shite last season stuff all to do with ticket sales.

Is this away limitation not partly due to the threat of a stadium closure on further trouble and when the north side of the East gets used, so too do missiles?

Last season there were a few bad decisions that were given by the officials against teams that filled the east stand that may have
gone the other way with the fewer away fans. If we had got two more home wins we would have stayed up. I don't think any team should
give away fans more than 20% of its capacity if they want to maintain a home advantage.

No one knows what's happening yet, they might be waiting to see if the 3 sides are sold out and the east is needed for home fans... or have they even sold the 1st allocation yet?

Don’t think it’s a bad decision tbh. Protecting the home advantage. When 3,500 away fans are scattered across the east it must be give the away team a massive boost. Unlucky Wigan.

3 sides sold out 😀
It's possible, crowds have been far more than some expected so far, although given the last games if we'd have won then maybe, might not be as enthusiastic now.

Unless we improve in the next one, that'll help.

Sorry, didn't know I was conversing with a high roller💰
I certainly ain't but your coming across as a right smart arse on this thread. 👍

We're a holiday town who relies on visitors how many out of that extra 2k would stay over spend in pubs, cafe's and shops etc?
Obviously none on this thread are connected with the holiday trade or give a toss about it as if this game was played in January having a hotel full of Wigan fans could potentially pay the bills for the month.

Having the ground as full as possible makes for a better game so get the East as full as possible.

Those who say we lose home advantage totally underestimate the power of the North Stand.

Do we actually know whether Wigan have sold 2000 tickets, requested more, been refused etc. Bolton are their PNE they won't necessarily bring as many to Blackpool. Perhaps establish some facts before heated debate?
Wigan sold all their 4k allocation for their match at Bolton.

The way Wigan are playing they are going to piss this league 100% (watch the extended highlights v Bolton).

It won't be needed for home fans unless we're in the Prem. 🙄

Said it to me
However if you said if we sell 6x 2000 extra and that will help fund the striker we need to get you a promotion bonus I’m not sure what he’d have said 😉

Or if you gave him a bonus from the money to fund some dodgy clothes he could wear on his next sofa talk appearance that might also shift his views.

We're the only club I can think of apart from Accy (with their mini ground) who give the away team a whole side of the ground. Probably some more small grounds, but I can't think of any we've been to of late.

If I remember rightly, Hubby's point was not 'I don't like their being loads of away fans' - more that 'it makes it more like an away game' because, as a full back, all he could hear all game was away fans the length of the pitch.

Obvious solution = move the north to the east for big games and put away fans there... 🤣😉

I'm guessing the football club and police don't make decision based on hotel take up.

Watching the video Wigan looked very good and must be odds on for automatic promotion
As long as they don't pick up any major injuries.

Their accurate speed passing is cutting teams open. Their finishing is deadly.

I worry for us when we play them in 10 days time. I hope NC has got us playing offensive football by then.

So we get 4k at their gaff and them only 2k and we've an empty stand great descion not.

We're competing against teams who have way bigger attendances yet fans want signings and the club are prepared to throw 50k down the drain bonkers.
Their ground holds 30,000 so they have plenty of room to give us as many as they want, they won't sell out. You're comparing apples and pears. It's like saying we could give Fleetwood 3,000 tickets, why don't they give us 3,000?

It’s no different than limiting the east stand allocation to 2k (madness) so why should Fleetwood give us over half the capacity of the ground?

We've an empty stand which ain't getting used but are prepared to open it when it suits which was plenty of times 2021-22 season.

If there is demand(not even sure there is from Wigan) get it open as next time there's a debate about club finances on here and lack of signings well here you go.

Yeah let’s give away clubs 4-5,000 allocation. Give their players some proper backing and a genuine boost. Meanwhile we’ll boo our players off at half time when it’s not going to plan. What’s the worst that could happen?

If Husband has said he doesn’t like it, listen to him. He’s a first team player.

What a melt. And next time his contract renewal is up we’ll offer him a 50% cut, when he moans tell him income is down and it’s all we can afford. Amazes me how the club and a lot of fans are so blasé about us turning down extra 50k in income. I love to see the stands full and a real energy in the ground. Anyway not long until it’s Stevenage at home, we’ll walk that one with their 50 away fans, and Hubby can dawdle on the ball to his hearts content safe in the knowledge he won’t hear any nasty shouts from the East 😀

Agree, most teams will bring 3 figure away followings this year, the financial sting of relegation is there to see.

Ridiculous stance.

Nah he’s not a melt. He’s an experienced pro and been our best player so far this season. We have a pitch which is close to the east stand and whether or not you agree, it’s a fact that having 5,000 vocal, pissed up nob heads will intimidate some players.

It’s not like it’s behind the net, in a second tier, in a massive stadium. It dominates a large part of the pitch.

If he really does have this stance he's a melt.

As are the club if they've listened to him - and / or a vocal minority of fans.

It's probably more to do with nob heads in the north causing trouble.

Fighting for survival is a different mindset all together and I agreed with not giving Wigan a full allocation to try create an advantage. They were absolute desperate times and you need every possible thing on your side.

If you can't get promoted because you give about 4 teams the full east in a full 23 home game schedule then you don't deserve to go up. A silly loss of revenue and it makes for a great atmosphere having away fans closer to the North. The rest of the teams are not even gonna fill half, so that's enough home advantage to justify doing it for the big games.

We might be one of the only clubs who doesn't have their singing section right next to the away fans - are we really that bad?
