"We live near Blackpool FC stadium - now we're being made homeless right before Christmas".

Central Drive next?
Big plans for it to be redeveloped, all part of this revoe area redevelopment, but I think the east area and pitches are first, then maybe the other side years later.

Central drive would probably be nearer 2030, although the sooner the better.

I believe those who own house’s should be adequately compensated whether they want to move or not & I mean 10-20% above market value. This would go someway to soften the upheaval. I know if my house was subject to a CP order I’d want some incentive as I’m happy in it. Whilst renter’s have right to a couple of months notice it would have been prudent of them to be proactive knowing this was coming in the near future, I would have done. That said I believe they should also be compensated to a much lesser degree for the forced move & I know it could have happened anyway if the landlord decided to sell up. I’m no expert on CP but what I’ve outlined sounds reasonable to me & maybe already in place as part of the CP order. Just the Sun conveniently forgot to mention it.

Blackpool Council built a fcuking tip on my Grandad’s land up at Marton Moss via a CPO.
He wasn‘t overly compensated for it either.

Years ago I read in the gazette about a bloke who lived down there who had nothing but some scrotes broke into his house and nicked his telly. I had a spare telly so I phoned the gazette and got the details and took this telly down there to give this bloke. The place the guy was living in was an absolute pit. I think it was a converted garage or something. It was disgusting the poor bloke had to live on those circumstances. The whole street needs flattening like too much of south shore so the sooner the better.

the whole area needs demolishing, not just one sex offender, there are loads on st heliers, saville rd. those who were made to move from council tower blocks layton were given plenty of compo by clowncil. if you look around the town you will see that most private landlords are only interested in the £ and no investment. about time clowncil made them do something.

The Compulsory Purchase Order is sought by the Council as part of its regeneration work of the Revoe area . The Football Club is building a new stand at the same time. Whilst the 2 are clearly connected, I cant see why the Football Club seems to be taking the blame for this, shouldnt the residents be taking the matter up wiht the Council ? I know this has been said before, its just annoying that the Gazette and other rags keep wanting to see the Club being blamed for progress.

Wait. 90 grand for a house? Lol, what must these houses be like... 👀
1. This is Northern England
2. At least a few of the properties on that street are pre fabs built in the 1940's, certainly not worth that.
3. Terrace houses are not worth a lot in Blackpool in general

By the sounds of it the majority of the residents have sold up and moved on.

I’m struggling to understand the motivation of the lady who rents her property. The landlord has sold up, that could happen in any property.

In the other case, it sounds like the individuals maybe have a higher price expectation than the valuation… or they are maybe angling for a bigger payout to enable them to buy the property they want. Hopefully the council pay them a fair price fir their home and inconvenience.

Obviously sensationalist (it's the Sun) but gives a bit of insight into the situation on Henry St.

Lifestyle choice. Anyone homeless has made that choice.

Suella.

I’d imagine house prices will be falling in the short term at least. Not sure how that would work, but conceivably I suppose the offers might end up coming down, rather than going up.

The council sold all their “social housing” because they couldn’t afford to maintain them to the new standards they write for themselves. The now relay on private landlords to purchase houses do them up and rent them back in a social housing contract.
The council sold and “spunked” all the money from selling “collective assets”.
So why are you so damming of private individuals supporting their pensions providing accommodation for families who would be otherwise homeless.
The private landlord with 75% fixed rate mortgages are in for a shock when their fixed rate deals end.
Most landlords are ethical, want to keep good tenants and protect their asset that they hope will supplement their state pension in years to come.

"The council sold all their “social housing”" - you are conveniently forgetting that the right to buy is the reason why most social housing ended up in private landlords hands - nothing to do with managing and maintaining properties on an ever decreasing central government grant. Whilst i agree some landlords are ethical (i was one) a large majority just do the bare minimum - some rental properties in Blackpool are genuinely disgusting - however we have a large number of absentee landlords from out of town only here for the yields and local property managers who only care about their margins. Seen it with gas boiler servicing - most agents only pay for the annual safety check - never a service - in the hope the boiler will break sooner so that the landlord is stung for a new bolier. And then ask yourself why the state pension is so low in this country?

It says in that article that they’d been notified last November, so a year ago ffs.

Sort your shit out and fuck off!
Thats exactly what I was thinking. Got told last year, done fuck all about finding somewhere to live and are now crying. If I got told I was going to have to move, I'd have started looking straight away. Not even at the compulsory purchase stage yet, but they're talking like they're being kicked out on the streets right now with no notice.

Maybe it's just she has nowhere to go
The Council tell tenants to sit tight until evicted

I don’t know mate… It’s not an uncommon situation though for a landlord to sell a property. And I’m struggling to see how Blackpool FC is to blame for the fact her Landlord has opted to sell….

Makes you wonder if some of them are hoping for a few quid extra if they kick up a fuss.

It’s obviously not ideal, but it sounds like the Council are being as reasonable as possible.

No doubt yours are in decent condition and many others, seen plenty that are terrible and not even the desperate would live there. Even BCH properties were bad, I shudder to think what other housing associations are like. Theres supposed to be a landlord property inspection team, they are either blind or useless, I suspect both.

Several factors, not least that those houses are in the shadow of a temporary football stand which would be redeveloped at some point. Even before the temporary stands redevelopment was ALWAYS going to happen and CPO's a real threat. The purchase price will have reflected that.

Whilst I do have sympathy for the people, the possibility was always a probability.

Frankly, I don’t care, if crumbling, houses need to go, so be it, the town needs to get rid of many more and this will lead to not only a better football club, it will enhance the whole area. I’m quite sure the residents will end up in at least as good, if not better situation than they currently are.

A quick look on right move, and £ 90,000 seems the starting price for terrace houses in Blackpool, considering that
you have then have to add solicitors fees, moving costs, and the inconvenience of moving if you owned and lived in
a property you would be entitled to feel a bit pissed off. Maybe the offer should be a little higher for the inconvenience for
people who own and live in their own house. As for the people that are renting, unfortunately, that is part and parcel of
renting a property.
There was one case of someone who lived there who had paid for an extension for a disabled family member, and they were complaining that
they could not buy a property for the money offered that was suitable for a disabled person, I think it would be reasonable and fair to make them a bigger offer if this is the case.

£60 - £70K seems to be the going rate on Henry Street.

“Outrageous”
“Terrified”

“I want a council house”..

Ah that’s nice, well you should sort it then for yourself and family sharpish 👌🏼

A lot of people love to play victim.

It's a modern hobby. Woe is me but I’m sure the Scum paper will have bunged them a few quid for their worry 🤮
Were Rollercoaster Ride and Little Blackpool not mentioned? 😂

That was the price they sold for a couple of years ago, there has been an increase in prices up until March of this year.
Just think it is fair that you should be able to buy a house of equivalent standard in the Blackpool area. Especially if you have lived in the
house for a number of years.
