How many Championship games has he started as an out-and-out, and how many of those has he had two actual wingers on their correct sides of the pitch to complement him? Precious fewUnfortunately he isnt a 1 in 2 Championship striker
All of themClearly we will need to score more goals to retain our Championship status.
Who within our budget should we target?
Clarke Harris fits the bil! but way beyond our budget.Clarke Harris at Posh and Brown at Exeter weird first name I can't be bothered to look for. We should be able to afford either.
I wonder if Colby Bishop should be brought up at the next Fan's meeting and ask whether it was our medical that lead to him not coming or if the lad genuinely wanted to move to Portsmouth. At the moment it seems to have been a shocking decision especially when we are signing players like Bridcutt whose injury record is as bad, if not worse, than Bishop. That lad from Accy, but he has a history of can'tstopscoringitis so may fail the medical.
He isn't championship level or ever shown glimpses of it.Just use Jerry correctly and he's a 1 in 2 striker, we're not gonna find better on our budget.
I thought you was backing Madine & Yates Togo?Firstly, we shouldn't forget about Beesley as he was a lower league striker who was scoring a few goals. But any striker we bring in will be somewhat of a gamble be that a lower league striker or a youngster from a PL club. But it's a gamble we have to take imo. Failure to do nothing will make the season even tougher than it already is. All that said most strikers need other players to create chances for them and that too is something that's not really working at the moment.
I do back them but we still need in some form another striker. And I've previously said neither are top end Championship strikers. In fact the term "striker" is probably not the right term for Madine. He's pretty much a target man, a good one, but that's it. Madine does a job but he's never gonna get plenty of goals. He can lead the line well but there's never gonna be a good enough end product from him. There never has been throughout his career and he's only gonna get slower than he already is. What he is though is a target man who as such can play up front down the middle on his own. For me Yates and Lavery can't do that. Certainly for me and it's probably stating the obvious after this season, he should be released.I thought you was backing Madine & Yates Togo?
Good player Stockton, I'm surprised he didn't end up in the championship this seasonShould Cole Stockton be a consideration? You would think he’s within our budget.
Or is it time to give opportunities to some of the development squad?
A mix of all three. It's a trait of a Blackpool team whenever I watch them that has been the same for a while now where they just look totally uncomfortable in possession. Everything is rigid point to point and there's little movement through the lines, quick thinking or runs beyond the player on the ball. Second touch is a tackle and the third movement is waving the physio on because it's caused an injury. It just doesn't flow naturally to me.Question: is the problem the forwards, the system or the players behind them, and what is the benefit in spending £500,000+ to bring in another player who likely isn't any better than what we've already got, just to starve them of service as well?
We are creating chances 20's we're just not converting them.Firstly, we shouldn't forget about Beesley as he was a lower league striker who was scoring a few goals. The club scouts need to earn their corn and identify a striker who has not attracted the attention of other clubs - not easy I know, but that's their job.
The answer may rest in Scotland or Ireland and certainly overseas, from where we've made previous great signings.
Stikers in the EFL, who are already scoring goals, will sadly be outside out budget.
not read that but for me, can't recall too many chances from open play that we've missed. I think that at times we've got into good positions where we should create a chance/goalscoring opportunity but actual chances missed I don't recall too many. Example of what I mean. Last saturday, Yates didn't find Madine with the pass. In other words an opportunity to create a chance, but not an actual chance missed..We are creating chances 20's we're just not converting them.
An article by Sean on Lancs Live highlighted this.
Compared to last season we've created more chances than last season but have scored 2 fewer goals, showing we were more clinical in front of goal last season with the same players!
Totally agree that some of our players look absolutely terrified to have the ball at their feet!!A mix of all three. It's a trait of a Blackpool team whenever I watch them that has been the same for a while now where they just look totally uncomfortable in possession. On the kind of budget we have from the way they behave in transfer windows that's not going to be solved by getting a forward in who can go and do it all by himself so I think the best we could hope for is a loan for another youngster like Morgan Rogers. Who can maybe add to the mix and contribute something occasionally.
No one. We have Lavery. Yano that player who spends 90 minutes chasing his first touch? He will keep us safe and probably raise us to a team who are challenging for the title this season.Clearly we will need to score more goals to retain our Championship status.
Who within our budget should we target?
There is no way he is a Championship striker. He has been a lower league journeyman all his career. Did well last season, but look at his age and stats for the preceeding seasons!Good player Stockton, I'm surprised he didn't end up in the championship this season
I was just going off recent form and his physicalityThere is no way he is a Championship striker. He has been a lower league journeyman all his career. Did well last season, but look at his age and stats for the preceeding seasons!
No he's a 4 in 2 turns out!Unfortunately he isnt a 1 in 2 Championship striker
