Following on from 'fave American' band just who do you rate from Down Under?

For me, without question, it's the Finn brothers time as Split Enz. Innovative, controversial, weird, theatrical, they had it all.
Being based Down Under of course I probably know every track but they had a limited success in the UK (barring 'I got you' of course) but if you can have a listen to tracks like Dirty Creatures or One Step Ahead. They were quoted on more than one occasion as the Lennon and McCartney of Australasia.

Surprised no-one's mentioned Kylie yet. Or Dannii, or Stefan Dennis, or Jason Donovan etc ...

AC/DC of course, one worth a big shout currently are Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever who are carrying the - splendid - INXS Flag, check out the brilliant “The Hammer”

Its a dead heat between The Go-Betweens or Nick Cave.

Got into old bands from the Flying Nun label courtesy of 6music recently, some good stuff out there from years ago, and some of the bands are still going. I bought an album by The Bats from last year, and The Clean are two to check out or David Kilgour.

Flight X7 a NZ band ,used to go and watch them at Mainstreet ,a venue in Auckland along with HelloSailor, Spelling Mistakes etc .

ACDC. But shout out to Angry Anderson for the song, Suddenly. Love that. Reminds me of my happy younger days.

Cold Chisel was the one I got into after living a year in Oz in the mid 1990's.

Rolf Harris with 'Tie me Tangobear down sport' being a real favourite around the Layton Cubs camp fire as a youngster.
Liked the line about me keeping me cockatoo cool, which often brought a guffaw and rather devilish snigger.

If only we knew then...

Rolf Harris is possibly the only famous Australasian singer / band I've ever seen live... In fairness he was a decent enterntainer. Shame that he turned out to be a nonce, but you just never know I suppose.

I was going to mention his 'Two Little Boys' contribution but thought better of it.
