Why still “taking the knee” ?

That's your misunderstanding.
To me it means nothing.
I'm not racist and don't feel the need to show my support for people I don't know.
I do show friendship and support to my friends.
If I was called upon to help or support someone I would do but as a symbolic statement I personally think it's become a thing players do because it's something they must be seen to do.
For that reason it's lost its real message.

Halifax misunderstood why it started and why it happens.

Probably seems a bit superfluous now, but not arsed tbh. Some do it, some don't. Doesn't affect my viewing in any way and I support the right for people to take any stance they want. Surely a few of the free speech brigade will concur.

If it’s a stance against racism then how come lots of black players don’t take the knee?

Infact lots of clubs don’t take the knee full stop black and white players.

So what’s it really proving/saying? 🤷‍♂️

It’s been going on so long - I’m totally against racism, but don’t see how this is helping the cause . I understand it’s personal choice , as it’s my personal choice to not want to support it now . You go ahead and support it - that’s your choice 🤷🏻
But, surely, is it not simply helping the cause by keeping the whole issue very much in the public eye? And, whilever there is news coverage, for example, of continuing racism/racist attacks, people claiming they can no longer see the need for 'taking the knee' are, basically, falling foul of the very point the gesture was designed to tackle: complacency.

It’s more controversial in the stands these days more people in my block in the west stand simply stand up and turn their back on it just pointless these days imo.

No different to any other gesture. Wearing a poppy won’t bring back the deceased but it’s done to pay respect to those that lost a life. Taking the knee won’t end racism but it draws attention to an issue that still very much exists. If those that do it consider it of value then no-one - certainly not a bunch of white guys from a predominantly white community in a society dominated by predominantly white males - should really be determining when it is/isn’t necessary

For the record - there’s literally another post on this site tonight about the racist abuse of a player in today’s Coventry v Sheffield Wednesday game…. So…

Very succinctly put, sir.

It’s run its course now it’s never been effective never will be it’s as pointless as fitting wheels to a tomato. it’s folk acting like sheep, I just block stuff out nowadays let ‘em get on with it just take your time with your pre match pint you’ll miss it innit
Seig heil!

So.... the knee probably ain't working whereas points deductions may make the pricks think twice if it means their team could miss out on promotion or get relegated🤷

If you have to clarify you're not a racist before saying 'but', you're off to a poor start.

Racism is still hugely prevalent in football and society. I'm sure our players of colour have unfortunately been subjected to plenty. If they want to take the knee to show solidarity then let them crack on. The act of doing so does not negatively impact anyone and frankly nobody gives a toss whether you don't like it.

Does turning your back for all of around 5 seconds mean you support racism?

A 5 second gesture against racism gets a back turning gesture FFS 😂
Why don’t you pop over and ask them for yourself next home game I’m sure they’ll give you an answer block P it is.

Can’t you just shut your eyes for three seconds and pretend it never happened?

Racist incidents against AC Milan and Coventry yesterday

AC Milan players walked off the pitch after 30 minutes apparently.

Taking the knee is against racism so appears it needs to continue after these events yesterday
Clearly working

It all started off during lockdown matches in support of BLM and the killing of George Floyd and now it's about stamping out racism in football.
I 100 % support stamping out racism in football and always have done!!!

I fully supported the “Kick It Out” that was already established.

When I was a young student I fully supported “The Anti-NazinLeague” and attended many a “Rock Against Racism Festival/concert.

However, I I find the “taking the knee” a revenge full jesture supporting a black crackhead who had a criminal record as long as his arm, who was subject to wrongful actions of the US Police who have in turn been tried and convicted by the respective law of the land.

I see taking the knee as an excuse for ethnic minorities and looney left tendencies to vandalise statues of our history (be it unsavoury) and threaten to attack cenotaphs we’re young men paid the ultimate sacrifice fighting against Nazi racism to enable us us the freedom we all have (irrespective of colour and ethnicity) in the UK today.

So my opinion on taking the knee….KICK IT OUT !!
