Yes. Of those, Critch has only really bothered with CJ previously. He did pick CJ a lot.

It depends what formation we play. If it's going to be 442 then yes, definitely because I don't think Dale will be here this season. If we play 532 then we have players to play 2 wing backs.

CJ will play regularly in my opinion, even in a 532. Certainly if we play 442 or 433

Every manager has picked him, not just Critch and he's now a full International. He gets lots of stick but he's way underrated and much better than some think. He struggled after his injury but last season he was one of our best players in a poor team and he will be a real asset this season.

That would be a bit dull if we didn't, especially if we play 2 defensive midfielders. He'll probably play 442 or 433 anyway, but we do have the players to play with 3 at the back and 2 wing backs.

Maybe we should look at Matty Phillips? He’s 32 now and probably past it in the champ for West Brom, but could do a job in league one I’m sure

Good point. Critchley did also get some good loan players in with Simms, Ballard, Wintle and Embleton. Maybe Downes has some contacts across the game to bring in decent wide loan players otherwise why appoint him? That said they took James from us and utilised him.

Wiltshire Division 5 Sunday League is CJs level. The guy is a 400 metre runner. Not a footballer.

For 20 minutes against a kid who was moved and then CJ reverted to well ermmm CJ.
After that he was his usual I am not a footy player self and then went on to have a hand in their goal as he did in a few other games due to being inept at footy.

CJ will do a job for us next season. Until he got injured he was our most dangerous player in L1 last time.

In which case we'll be back to the problem we had last season in that we won't have anyone who can cross the ball.
Someone who can actually get the ball in the box from an attacking position (and corners and free kicks) is a must.
