Would you throw Madine straight back in for Reading?

It's an interesting one. You'd expect that Gaz is integral to how MM sets up generally, but as the suspensions, red cards and injuries pile up he's gradually discovering an alternative, albeit very slowly.

But I did notice MM and TC's reaction to the Madine sending off. Or complete lack of it - they totally blanked him. Compared to the usual consoling pat that happens, like Patino got Wednesday night. I'm thinking they weren't over struck on Gaz's antics there, so wonder if that'll affect his thinking on future selection, at least for a time.

The reverse side of that of course is he might want to do that but can't afford to, given the load Jerry's had to shoulder since.

We need Poveda, Rogers, Bowler & Yates on the pitch for the majority of that and every game until the end of the season.

Can you also fit Madine into that?

I don’t think so.

Does Madine have a role to play in getting us out. Probably. But it’s probably as a last throw of the long ball dice in a bad spot. We need to create goals with the players I mentioned at the top.

Agree with that but McCarthy might see it the other way round. ie hoofball so Madine starting and then being replaced with a footballer.

No, Madine wouldn't start another game for me unless we had no other option. The guy wanted to leave in Jan anyway... Fcuk him, we should have let him go.

No, I wouldn't want to disrupt the new found form we've discovered after beating Stoke 3-0 and then trouncing Blackburn away 3-1 so I'd make him Gary gamechanger as an option off the bench.
If we keep it on the deck we've got every chance!

Madine let us down badly, also people said he said in a pub he's off at the end of the season as he's bored.

Shouldn't be starting for me. I'm sure he can still contribute but is he fully committed now?

He will be off at the end of the season as he is a striker who rarely scores, let's down the club with his indiscipline, and will not be missed

I still respect his time here, its been a generally good time and he's done a job, scored some key goals.

I like his character and we saw some great videos of him, Keogh and Hubby.

Hopefully he's not done just yet, as we don't have many strikers and Jerry is running himself into the ground. We kind of still need him.

Depends if McCarthy is playing football or hoof ball by then.

Personally i wouldn’t be unhappy to have seen the back of GM.

The thing is even if we do go long ball with Madine it doesn’t work all that well. The ball doesn’t stick with him so isn’t great at holding up and when does he ever rise above everyone to head home a set piece? Or to win a crucial header to set up Jerry? There probably are examples of it happening just nowhere near enough imo.
I remember John Murphy, albeit in a league below, did all the above brilliantly.

"Gary, we needs you to fit in the team as I say, just like Josh. If you want to play, you need to be the defensive midfielder, and might have t' play CB in a back five "

Nope. He’s better off the bench imo
We're better off with him on somebody elses bench!
Dereliction of duty by the club not to bring in a mobile physical forward that can score. We went after Bishop and didn't get him somehow, we should have carried on looking.
There has to be somebody better than Madine that we can afford!!

100% NO.
I have really gone off the guy
Firstly because he is a liability and secondly his lifestyle is not that of a professional sportsman.
Reading posts on here he seems to spend a lot of time in the pub and, if what jjpool says above is correct, then if he openly tells people he is bored then he can fcuk off.
Totally wrong attitude but I have a feeling that MM will play him out of desperation

If he wasn't injured he might 😥
I thought he was too but was reliably informed he’s back to fitness now. Played and scored for the development squad or what ever it’s called now this week.

He was terrible when he was on loan years ago but he improved last season. He's always been too slow off the mark & for a striker doesn't have the strikers instinct or score enough goals. But he was useful with hold up & the layoffs & defensive duties & the odd goal. But of late his nasty side has returned, shithousery may be ok but he could have had 3 reds as opposed to 2 this season. I've gone off him TBH.

We need a Duncan Ferguson type. I’d play him

We need his goals! I think I scored more in two years at primary school. I'm. 5 '10" I'm reckon I could have jumped higher . Not now my knees are knackered

Madine was captain that day and 1 of our senior players ,he let us all down badly.

Normally, I'd say no and he shouldn't be anywhere near the team after letting us down badly against Udders. But, with only Yates (who is running himself into the ground) being the only fit recognised striker, we need all options available. When his head is right he can be a real handful. So I wouldn't be against the idea if it suits the formation....
