I have less time for the teams whose fanbase stays around 2,000 to 3,000 regardless of them rising through the Leagues. Johnny come lateliesI think I find it easier to see clubs like those mentioned enjoy success, even if it's bought, because it takes some dedication to follow them all the way down to the bottom and out of the league. Much more respect for their genuine fans that stuck by them (I know some are bandwagon jumpers) than I have for fans of the bigger clubs who cry and protest occasionally when they drop to mid table, but don't really have any idea what a crisis is.
Wholeheartedly agree.I have less time for the teams whose fanbase stays around 2,000 to 3,000 regardless of them rising through the Leagues. Johnny come latelies
The likes of Grimsby show that there is an inherent history and heritage that a little success brings back the fans. Far sooner have Bury and Oldham back over the likes of Forest Green and Sutton.
They might not have a connection but the plan was to buy a club in a struggling area and revitalise it. Wrexham fans have paid their dues for a long time so how anybody would want them to fail God only knows. They might be Hollywood owners but have not just jumped in at the top end but done something worthwhile lower down.Hope they fail, getting fed up of all these clubs taken over by someone with no connection who then splashes the cash.
Wrexham can afford to lose £3 million on gates of 10,000 plus. As they go up the Leagues they'll be in profit.Hmmm, Haythornthwaite was saying three years ago that he was putting in £1m pa, must be more now. As said above, least Wrexham have a chance of self sufficiency.
I don’t think even Haythornthwaite can say that.Wrexham can afford to lose £3 million on gates of 10,000 plus. As they go up the Leagues they'll be in profit.
Can you say the same of AFC ?
Who was the last Blackpool born player we had as a regular? John Hills?I’d genuinely like to see all clubs have to recruit players from there respective towns plus perhaps the odd 1 or 2 outsiders. I doubt it’ll happen though as £££££ has a bigger say. Workings man’s game my arse, well it used to be.

Let's be honest, if this was Blackpool we would all be lapping it up.
I highly doubt rr and his mate have got less money than ss.They were always league one for most of my lifetime, so no reason with the added glitz they couldn't make it into the championship.
Just depends if Ryan Reynolds is in it for the long haul, he's probably got less money than Sadler but with the added attention and sponsorships they could be a champ club averaging 15k+.
I always enjoyed that stand behind the goal at the Racecourse, could generate a great atmosphere, some memorable matches with them too.
You’d imagine they’d be multi multi millionaires and have almost infinite piles of cash from other sources tooI highly doubt rr and his mate have got less money than ss.
You might be right, obviously nobody knows Sadlers net worth but it's likely in the hundreds of millions based on the value of his hedge fund.I highly doubt rr and his mate have got less money than ss.
Pay to win. Like most things these days.I’d genuinely like to see all clubs have to recruit players from there respective towns plus perhaps the odd 1 or 2 outsiders. I doubt it’ll happen though as £££££ has a bigger say. Workings man’s game my arse, well it used to be.
Yeah true. Bad idea I suppose.Who was the last Blackpool born player we had as a regular? John Hills?
Yep I agreeMy lad lives in Chester but works in Wrexham. He finds it nauseating with them all jumping on the bandwagon - guess that's the point though, to get buy in and build.
Both.
They've been done over badly by previous owners and have fell lucky with A lister owners.
Notts County aren't owned by paupers either and a couple of million at that level goes a long way.
What I do like about them both is that they are clubs with footballing pedigree with large fanbases.
Some other clubs to have come up recently have been rich men's playthings and aren't genuinely sustainable.
Agreed. It certainly isn't the game we all fell in love with growing up as kids. Morals have left the building as far as football is concerned. It's run by money now and in some cases it's just downright corrupt. And it seems the higher up the football chain you go, the more corrupt it is.I really do not buy into this statement at all Wiz. It's a lazy way of saying you don't like smaller clubs with rich owners.
All football clubs are the playthings of the wealthy.
Man City would be sustainable - but they would be shite like they used to be.
AFC Fylde or Fleetwood would also be sustainable but may need to drop down a league or three.
Both only gain relative success by having wealthy benefactors. This is football. If you have a wealthy owner you win, if you don't, you tend not to.
