Wtf was that 2nd half?

1st half was pretty decent, totally dominant but let down either the final pass and of course scoring goals. Should have been further ahead really from all that domination.

Cambridge looked awful, barley touched the ball and no shots at all, basically offered nothing.

So how did we go in at half time and come out utterly toothless and allow them to compete?

2nd half we looked mostly clueless, poor passing, bad touches, wrong choices, no real goal threat etc.

Ffs we were kicking towards the north stand and that's all we could do.

We won but we are not a side threatening the playoffs based on that and some of the past performances, there's just not enough goal threat, too much wrong.

Where do people sit on who's at fault?

Ultimately the manager is responsible and we have seen us get a lot of good results at home, with some decent enough performances, so we can do it.

At times you have to blame the players for simply not being good enough, poor touches etc, moves breaking down.

But again it does come back to the manager, people blamed Appleton, Mick for our relegation, players making mistakes, it was the players too but they were not performing, we actually had some decent talent in that side. Ultimately a manger gives them confidence in how they play, gets the best out of them.

But are we really saying that someone else would have us purring? I suppose it's possible, because confidence can change a player from shit to great, but really is it likely?

absolutely how i saw it too.

First half we started very brightly with Dembele getting on the ball and running at them looking a real threat although his final ball was poor. Coulson was looking good as the wing back getting forward really well and Carey and Byers were dominating the midfield. We still weren't getting anything decent into the box for Beesley and Kouassi to have any sight of goal. Mixture of perhaps poor service but also their lack of anticipation. But as the half wore on we were looking less and less of a threat but overall a decent first half and we deserved to be in front.

But the second half it was back to the borefest. Started to sit deeper and deeper, Dembele became anonymous but was that his fault or just the way we were playing? Cambridge started to dominate and had two great chances to get an equaliser. I was out sharpish on the final whistle so was unaware of the boos at the end but yep Critchley certainly deserved them again.

Agree and the last pass was so frustrating to watch. Lavery had a decent chance to have a shot, he decided on a misplaced pass instead.
Only excuse is that Weather conditions were horrible.
It was a hell of a gale on that pitch.

The boos were only from a few individuals.

I certainly noticed in the second half Lavery making plenty of runs and showing his frustration when the ball wasn't played towards him. On the other hand when it was his control was terrible and is decision making was poor.

I think yesterday’s game had a distinct feel of an end of season game with nothing to play for. 1st half was ok, 2nd half was turgid. Basically both sides were generally poor.

The only advantage we can take from yesterday is our coach should know and identify our failures in the squad. Many of us can see our failings throughout 90 mins of football. My opinion is a player who is more than capable of holding receiving the ball is a big must. A tactician in midfield who can do exactly the same with some pace, one thing is more apparent Morgan is a big asset to the team. A C/B who can play the ball with confidence, and finally a couple of wingers who from the bench or in the team who will influence our performances over 90 mins. Its not rocket science is it !..

Read what Critchkeys says in the Gazette about the strike force (ha ha ) he put out yesterday , the guy has defo lost the plot .

I don't think critchley knows his best team, I don't think he ever will, he's so fixated with the "system" that he will try endless and possibly random permeations to make the system work. Every now and again their is a brief spell where the players seemingly abandon the rigid structure and actually play football. I can imagine critchley tearing at his body warmer in the dressing room berating players who had stepped out of the confines of their role in the system. Players come back out with their confidence again shattered and the rest is history.
