Yates

The bottom line is, we need to address the supply, the chances created for our strikers. We could sign anyone, but if there's no supply, no someone creating from midfield we are unlikely to score bucket loads. The problem lies in the lack of creativity behind the strikers, rather than with Yates, Madine, Beesley or Lavery.

I'm not sure that the constant rotation helps the strikers at all, Critch needs to decide on his best front two and play them, barring injury. Jerry Yates could be one of those, but he needs to play, regularly.
yep fully agree. He should play what in his opinion are his best two strikers and they should only be dropped because of poor form, not simply to rotate.

Think he's also spent a bit of time on the bench. Had a great season with Bristol R and that's why P'boro spent a fair bit on him. He did well last season but there's only so far big bruising centre forwards can go unless they have a bit more to their game.
Agree . Clark Harris did well last season but so did Jerry and there wasn't too many for JY to be replaced by JCH then!!

For me, we need to make a decision on Big Gaz. He will be 32 next and should be more than capable of lasting a full 90 mins game after game. If he isn’t then we can’t just keep dropping him in and out of the team and need to do something else upfront.

Although I’m not going to be the one to tell him he’s out…

We've made a decision on him. He's got a new one year contract. 👍

Obviously there are a fair few fans of Yates on here but my opinion remains that as with us this season and previously at Rotherham he doesn`t cut it at this level just 5 goals excluding penalties and understandably it would seem Critchley shares that view. It is no doubt true that we are not too creative from midfield or wide but good strikers get in good positions and find ,create and finish chances.

Yates is liked because he always gives 100% but good strikers need to offer a lot more than that. If we were to be offered decent money for him we should grab it.

Although strikers and keepers are judged on that one chance which is where you can completely destroy someone's confidence by dropping them.
