Your first Gig......

Chuck Berry, Carl Perkins, The Nashville Teens, The Animals, Gene Vincent and Bo Diddley at the Bolton Odeon 1963 all for 70p(14 shillings) . There was less than 100 there.
Set me off loving music which I do to this day

That was some line-up! Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley were my introduction to music owing to my brother who’s 10 years my elder, great stuff.

The Undertones see no more tour at Lancaster uni around 1980? The fingers at Blackburn king George’s, anti nowhere league at the smelly place down the road that was a bit tasty! Loads of good bands at the warehouse and a bus back to Garsvegas

First ever gig ,local band IN2XS at Blackpool boys club about 1980
Proper gig Blackpool opera house ,The Jam ,about 1982

Joy Division 27/07/79 at the Imperial Hotel supported by The Glass Torpedoes/Section 25/Final Solution and OMD. ‘She’s lost control’ is the track that stands out in my memory.
Another one here that was my first gig. Still got the flyer somewhere back home, think it was a 25p or 50p entrance fee if I remember right.

Not a gig, but on a school trip to London around 1972, we were taken to a Radio Theatre on Northumberand Avenue to see a programme being recorded and Lindisfarne were on and did a couple of tracks

Cream at the Jig Saw club in Manchester circ 1967
Couldn’t get in the Twisted Wheel to see Isaac Hayes so ended up in this small club listening to an unheard of group containing Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker - what a result!
Ended up years later at their farewell concert at the Albert Hall

The Thrills (Band from Ireland) 2004. Awsum! Only time I ever got to see them too, and still one of my all time favourite bands.

Warlock - Thames Road Junior School Summer Fayre 1973. Phil W on guitar later wrote all the music and played all the guitar on All Skrewed Up.

Led Zeppelin - 1972 Manchester Free Trade Hall...Mum knitted me a zozo Jimmy Page sign jumper for the gig...a night a big tall hippies asking "Hey man where did you get that jumper.." Mum knitted it"..odd looks.

The Buzzcocks played Jenks and the Mecca.
Buzzcocks defo played Jenks as my brother was literally thrown out by his pants for trying to record it on his new sony recorder...he'd started up the machine and told to stop..he didnt and got shown the door..he said they looked like gonks.

Boast of the thread for me.

After a couple of under age pints in the Little Vic it was on to the Opera House to see The Who October 1971 my god it was loud reading back on the thread reminds me of some of the bands I saw in Blackpool the Buzzcocks was at the Highland room in 78 ? . For any one who visited Lancaster Uni there is a great book out called When Rock went to college covering the years 1969-1985

Not sure but the Lurkers gig was in 79, they left the stage after a few songs because of the amount of stuff being thrown at them.
The more I think, the more certain I am. It was the one that Pete Shelley stopped signing 'Ever Fallen...' and gave his 'all you Seasiders down there doing that when I'm up here signing songs about people who love each other, you XXXX me up, yo really do' speech.

He did stop singing because of the seasiders chanting, I remember that.

Very embarrassed to say Sweet, 1972 but can’t remember where and they were absolutely crap.
Been to a hell of a lot of gigs since then and really enjoyed them though.
