The Summer Transfer Thread - Part 1.

Rubbish. I don't know what you have been watching, any CH playing at the side of Husband is going to have problems, end of.
The evidence is out there. Like i said, get on the BFC page on YouTube and look at the goals we've shipped and his defending, then come back and offer up an excuse for it.

I disagree with a lot of your postings, but you are right on this.
Cardiff let him go for a reason. He may be ok in L1 though, so not fussed either way if we sign him or not

Would hope we go in for Bashiru at Wednesday given he’s not yet signed a new contract. Especially with the Wednesday fella joining as Sporting Director. We desperately need that power and presence in the middle of the park. Another young CM I’d take would be Archie Collins at Exeter. Their stand out player, brings goals and creativity from the middle and only 23. Also out of contract and yet to sign a new deal - likely within our means financially. You’d hope !
At CB a player I’d hope we’d target earlier this season was Aden Flint from Stoke who actually joined Wednesday on loan. A giant CB with plenty of experience and someone who scores goals. Slow as a tanker but shouldn’t be an issue in League 1 if he can bring what Keogh brought to the back line.

Just going to throw a name out there.

I’m thinking Mo Eisa from MK Dons should be someone we could look at. Pacy forward who runs off the shoulder of the last defender, has scored goals at league one level over the last few seasons.

L1 top goal scorers, put a line through any of those at clubs that are promoted, over the age of 32 and at clubs unlikely to sell. It really doesn't leave much and shows just how important it is to keep Jerry and find a replacement for Madine.

L2 top scorers, rule out the top 3, they are all over 30. The 2 that stand out are Daniel Agyei at Crewe and Devante Rodney at relegated Rochdale. Both the right age (under 25) and done well considering who they play for.

A lot of people are focusing on strikers here and I'm not sure why. Assuming Yates leaves, we still have Madine, Beesley and Lavery.

Were absolutely desperate for some quality midfielders and wingers if you ask me

Madine will not be available for months and Lavery will be sweating on a contract extension.
Apter looks like he can step up
Dale can play wide
Virtue doing well at Lincoln

Madine would not be available for much of next season as he has to recover fromhis ACL operation!

I think the big mistake we made as other people have said on here was we did'nt find a replacement for Richard Keogh. So moving on if we require a CB of similar stature I would think Chris Basham (Sheff Utd) would be ideal for us next season IMO.
Jesus wept, are we only allowed to sign ex-players?

Ashley Barnes is leaving Burnley. Great professional and if we’re looking at bringing in some of our youngsters he might be the experienced head we’ve lacked since Richard Keogh left?

I totally agree about us not replacing Keogh - big Marv was 30-40% better with uncle Richard along side him. Huge miss for us which we probably didn’t appreciate at the time. Not sure about Vhris Basham though - not for me

He's on 30k p/w @ Burnley, can't see him dropping into our wage structure,

Besides, we have an experienced CF (albeit he's injured)
The kind of big wages he'd want could be better spent elsewhere in the squad.

Agree about the wages, although as he ages he’ll have to accept he can’t earn what he once did. But Madine v Barnes - honestly?

Bargain bucket shopping again, no thanks
Done wisely that's how it works . We get a Jerry Yates. Enjoy his goals and personality as long as we can. Then sell him for a profit.
What do you consider NOT. Bargain basement then? £1 mill a player , 2 ,3 ....? X that by the 5 or 6 new players we might be looking at and...we re going down an unsustainable route as what seems to be 95%. Of other clubs.
Doesn't mean we can't be ambitious . Of course we can , otherwise there's no point in having a football club.

And raid the lower leagues , north of the border and anywhere else where football is played😊

And that is probably the way forward, we clearly keep tabs on the League or Ireland but our scouting needs to find gems in the lower leagues, Scotland and further afield. Getting the right manager could be the difference when landing our preferred loan targets also. It's a massive summer ahead.

Cardiff were happy to let him go
Maybe better in L1, but not fussed either way
Cardiff had to get some of the high earners of the wage bill otherwise could have been in breach off FFP rules (again!). I think he would be a useful signing in Lg 1 especially given Big Marv's erratic season.

Rumour has it Sonny Bradley is leaving Luton.

6'5, 31 year old centre back and their club captain. Played hundreds of games from league 2 to the championship. Get him signed
Yes go for him. Would be good to have two Sonny's in the squad.😜👍👍

As we see other clubs retained lists etc, there are some very good influential players becoming available 7/8 players are required
any more not sure.
