New What we all watching / recommendations thread?

This is a MUST watch especially if you want to extend your life !! Not joking. THE GAME CHANGERS on Netflix.

Couple of recommendations:

Amazon Prime - Citadel - the child of James Bond/Bourne/Mission Impossible & Kingsman - Flash, action packed and a lot of fun if not much plot.

Netflix - The Diplomat - No action whatsoever but written by the same person as Homeland and The West Wing its a really brilliant political thriller with plenty of humour in it too.

I think tonightā€™s episode of ā€œRace around the worldā€ - BBC and I Player, is the final one of the current series. Iā€™ve been hooked on all 3 series. Great concept.
Don't think its been up to the previous two series standard, to many legs have ended with all of the participants on the same bus/train getting to the checkpoint. Plus the father and daughter who are always getting taxis do my nut in. Really hope the other father and daughter win or the Scottish couple.

I'm working my way through The Diplomat which is just ok. However the missus is absolutely hooked on Firefly Lane which is more of a ladies programme but it is quite good from a mans pov.

Just finished the 4 part series on Netflix called The Nurse.

Enjoyed it but very sad itā€™s a true story and what happened to those poor patients.

I am just catching up with Astrid on More 4. It is a French murder / detective series (with subtitles). Astrid is an employee in the criminal records office who has asperger's syndrome, with a brilliant analytical ability / encyclopaedic knowledge, but few social / communication skills, a mania for order and subject to mini breakdowns. She helps and is befriended by a female inspector, who champions her involvement in cases. Her interactions and communications with the detective team and pathologist can be both humorous and sad. Many see her as a bit of a nutter, but become to realise her skills and value.
My wife got me initially interested in it and I have been hooked since. Excellent TV.

Some of the music in the Responder is by a guy called Fink, who's from Cornwall
Really makes the programme and well worth checking out....

Finished off second series of Perry Mason and was left very disappointed.....obviously forgot to write the ending before they started shooting it
Kin, (Drugs/Gangsters) series 2 is very good, no idea where this is showing apart from dodgy websites. Aiden Gillen is excellent (as usual)
Black Knight starts on NetFlicks in the UK next week....Korean, Sc-Fi/Action thriller, will be massive if you know the game...
Keep a light (AppleTV and dodgy websites) True story of Dutch family hiding a Jewish family during the war.....emotional!!!!

Going to start watching Silo on Apple+ tonight, sounds like a decent dystopian thriller.

Seen all of the Diplomat, and just wow! Brilliant, can't wait for season 2. Also season 3 of Righteous Gemstones is on in June, if you haven't seen that you really should.

Not so much a recommendation but a heads-up of these forthcoming series with possibly something for everyone. Perhaps make a mental note of...hopefully some gems included.

Love and Death (Max, ITVX)
Set in a quiet, Texas suburb rocked by an axe murder in the 1980's, Love and Death is written by David E. Kelley (Big Little Lies, The Undoing) and directed by Lesli Linka Glatter, best known for Homeland. Release date: 27 April

Class of ā€™09 (FX on Hulu, Star on Disney+)
Class of ā€™09, a cop thriller that follows a class of FBI agents across three timelines as they grapple with the implementation of AI in the U.S. criminal justice system. Class of ā€™09 looks like it has all the tropes. Thereā€™s the rogue cop and a battered undercover agent, but a unique angle gives Class of ā€™09 an interesting potential. Release date: 10 May

Black Mirror (Netflix)
An ordinary life + spooky phone/computer/VR = good show. In true Black Mirror fashion, we wonā€™t quite know exactly what happens until we watch it (and even then, we might not be sure). But for now, we have a pretty stellar cast to get excited about. Release date: June

The Days (Netflix)
The Days is a Netflix Japan show coming to the UK this summer. Set amidst the nuclear disaster at the Fukushima nuclear plant following the earthquake and tsunami in 2011.Release date: June

True Detective ā€“ Season 4 (Max)
True Detective may be a little hit and miss, but thereā€™s something about this sinister series that keeps us coming back. And given how the fourth series of this crime thriller stars Jodie Foster as a cop on the beat in the barren Alaskan plains, weā€™re ready to dive in and potentially be disappointed once again.
Release date: 2023

M. Son of the Century (Now TV, Sky)
The eight-part M. Son of the Century, though, will show Italyā€™s wartime role in a TV drama format. M. Son of the Century charts the rise of fascism in Italy, and with it Mussoliniā€™s grasp on power.Release date: TBA, 2023

Mr and Mrs Smith (Prime Video)
Harking back to the origin story of Brangenlina, Mr and Mrs Smith (the forthcoming TV series) is based on the same storyline as Pitt and Jolieā€™s 2005 spy caper.
Release date: TBA, 2023

Bodies (Netflix)
Stars Stephen Graham - Bodies follows four detectives in four different eras who all find themselves investigating a murder committed under very similar circumstances. The catch is that, whether in the 1890s, 1940s, 2010s or a post-apocalyptic 2050, the victim is always the same person. Release date: TBA, 2023

Bodies sounds interesting šŸ‘Œ

Watching the Coronation now, proud to be British, but last night we watched the Windsors Coronation special and I was crying with laughter especially when Princess Ann was on, my god, they take the piss but I hope Charles and the family watch it and have a good laugh.

Watched the first episode of Silo last night, promising if a slow start, very claustrophobic and apparently it ramps up after episode 2.

Perry Mason (Now or Sky Atlantic)
Season 2.

Very good for anyone who likes court room dramas, with the added threats etc during the investigation. Bases in early 30s LA when Mason started out as a lawyer

Watching Dirty John series 2 on netflix.

Which is nothing to do with John at all but a drama based on Betty Broderick who it seems shot her husband in America back in the 80ā€™s. At this point in time I have to say Iā€™m team Betty.

finished the Diplomat which was quite good. Am on with the Night Agent now. Not bad so far but only into episode 2 at the moment.

Last night I watched the first part of the BBC's '11 Minutes, America's Deadliest Mass Shooting', which is about the shootings into a concert crowd in Las Vegas in 2017. The programme features interviews with people who were there and lots of video clips taken at the time. Both riveting and scary, one minute the audience was enjoying the show and suddenly people were being killed and injured when a gunman started shooting his automatic weapon into the crowd.

I watched The Big Lebowski again last night, the Cohen Brothers are movie geniuses, great actors, great script, laugh out loud dude!!

We then sat and watched Top Gun Maverick again and even though Tom Cruise is a weird weirdo he knows how to pick a great action movie, I actually enjoyed it more than the first watch, breathtaking flying and cinematography. We're currently watching Ted Lasso, Citadel and Silo for series but can't binge those as they are on every week, not sure what to go for after that.

yep, it's quite frightening how that happened. Watched 3 of the 4 episodes so far.

Give Mr Inbetween a go on Disney + if youā€™ve got it, just superbā€¦. really!

Class of 09....Very Good, 3 Episodes in and it's very topical with AI making it's presence felt....Story split over the past, present and future 7.9/10

SISU.....Holy Crap, what a good movie. Totally enjoyed this one.....Imagine a Finnish John Wick killing Nazi in every conceivable way....
The mine field scene will go down in cinema history.....watch it on dodgy websites and firesticks 9/10

Early doors is very good if you liked the royal family & after life, my brother recommended it a couple of months ago & im surprised Iā€™d not heard of it before, itā€™s a good few years old now & on iPlayer, not many episodes & around half an hour each, mainly all set in a bar in Manchester , so similar to royal family set in a front room, Craig cash party wrote it and is in it playing a similar character to his in the royal family, loved it from the start but it can take an episode or two to really get to know the characters, I wonā€™t give much away but the 2 pot head police officers are brilliant and the lovely relationship between the bar owner and his stepdaughter works well with the comedy elementā€¦ā€¦,tik..tok..**

Did anyone watch ā€˜The Devil All The Time?ā€™.

A few reviews panned it, but I enjoyed it.
