I usually studiously avoid the word "awesome", but that photo is.

If it was, I'm a pixel on the Pool side of the Kop, about 3/4 of the way back, with my sis! Great photoIs the above picture Carlisle (4-0) the game prior to loosing at Sunderland and missing out on promotion? Funnily we lost finishing third to Carlisle!

It isThat kit and badge is class.
Isn't that Ronnie Moore with Alan Ball?
Initially I thought Chester away when we were in their end. Ended up back in our end and stood at the back right, it was sunny and a couple of the lads got leg injuries and sat on the steps for rest of game. Fun day with vivid memories , i made the gazette picturesBury was in March. Bennys Mob were mental but not that mental to go with their tops off at that time of year!! It could be taken at the back of our Kop ? Recognise a few, two of the lads on the photo are no longer with us.
Some talent in this lot.

I believe they were transported to Wembley in 2010 in a stripy dress. What year did the south stand lose its twin peaks?View attachment 3880
On seeing it I just said to myself, "should have gone up that lot."Some talent in this lot.
We could do with a BFC museum to show off a number of the things that have appeared on this thread. I'd love to see that programme.
I’d pay a fortune for one of them tops home one or away, just ace

Looks like Mickey Burns crossing the ball - this would be the first half of the Carlisle match IF it was that fixture - seems a little dark for that game ? Bizarre first half that game - they mullered us first half and we scored every time we got in their half !Is the above picture Carlisle (4-0) the game prior to loosing at Sunderland and missing out on promotion? Superb picture - wish I had been able to see that team - iconic picture
Ground looked better in 1912 didn’t it Owing ?View attachment 3123About 1912 looking north from the number 1 club corner
I remember the 4-0 Carlisle game very well, too. They were really unlucky to lose 4-0. Perhaps this is an evening Birmingham City League Cup game around 1971-2? The shirt style is similar, and the darkness would make sense. Wonder if there are any more photos of the same games around. Gazette must have thousands.Looks like Mickey Burns crossing the ball - this would be the first half of the Carlisle match IF it was that fixture - seems a little dark for that game ? Remember that day well. A firm of Wolves came in the South Paddock and were quickly rescued by the old bill.
This is how I remember the Kop when I first started watching the Pool in the 1960s
I was working on the Pleasure Beach that day in 1976. My boss sent me out to get him a Gazette. When I got back the gates had been pulled across from the Noah's Ark to keep the Wolves fans out and quite a few of the ride operators were stood behind them, some carrying err...protective equipment. Luckily I was able to get back in again.Indeed they did. I was in the South myself that day, right next to them. There wasn't many from memory but I do remember they were big older geezers one in a sheepskin coat. They started it, and as I recall came off worst. I remember an old Pool fan getting up off the floor having got stuck in, with a broken fag still hanging from his gob! Wolves were as good as relegated to Division Four but still brought a big following. But not as many as in 1976 . I was only a nipper in the West Stand but remember missiles being launched into our side of The Kop and wide open spaces appearing as our fans had to scatter. I think the crowd that day was 21,000. They mustve had 5-6000 at least all crammed into the away side. The players were taken off the pitch at one point due to the airborne onslaught of schrappnel being thrown on the pitch. Scary day I'd imagine if you were on The Kop that day.
As a side issue to that potts & how appealing an away day in Blackpool was back then. I was also in the west vs wolves '76 & in the east when Stoke packed out the Kop similarly around that time. I also remember noticing Wolves vs Stoke on motd, maybe same season & Stoke only had a few hundred for what was virtually a local derby.Indeed they did. Blackpool was the main holiday destination for many in the West Midlands back then - we used to come for a week in late 60’s / early 70s and also for annual day trip. Life was pretty grim (comparatively), many worked down the mines - a trip to the seaside was the highlight - together with football of course. Put the two together and “wow”. Back in 70s Wolves would often take 3000 away - more to local derbies - once took 14k to West Brom. I wasn’t at the game in 76 but have seen every other game since. 1985 was a bad time - think Wolves brought 1500. Just about only away win all season !As a side issue to that potts & how appealing an away day in Blackpool was back then. I bet he got a massive wad to say he did though. I wonder how many young kids at the time thought they could play like him if they smoked Craven A?and he never smoked in his life.
