Sunderland v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 27.04.21

Sullay looking up for it tonight so far. Passing still very creaky through the rest of the team..

WTF...great opportunity then to attack from that challenge and what does kai kai do ? Passes it back ?!?! Where has the desire to go forward gone ?

We get so far into their half and don't have the guile to get behind their defence. Then we go back to defence who are playing a long ball that inevitably is too long and goes out of play. Very scappy.

I'm all in favour of keeping the ball but when we go towards let's have a bit of enthusiasm eh lads. This slow build up suits nobody and feels like a pre season practice match

After a lovely day of gardening and drinking, I am now planted in the couch ready to watch the Pool get 3 points. Come on people. Believe 🙏

nothing has changed with the tactics, formation has changed but shag all movement in front of the defenders. Sorry, not good enough and certainly not entertaining. How the feck does a free kick get passed backwards?

Bit more urgency here and I think we can damage them - the game does look like it’s being played by two teams running on empty!

The keep ball game doesn't bother me. We've not given them a kick yet and we don't look knackered like we have been. I'm happy with that.
I wish I had your patience because it bores the fuck out of me and drives me mad. Minutes of meaningless possession involving dozens of back passes which inevitably gets leathered forward in the end by Maxwell or Ballard back to the opposition is really ineffective and painful to watch.

To much passing sideways and backwards ,having said that our passing and touch is still poor, good job they are poor aswell

It's a bit early in the night to just be booting it aimlessly into the channels. Robson not in it at all yet.

Do you think that any manager worth his salt would settle for all this negativity and lack of ambition rather than seeming to encourage it?

I'd agree we've been far from exciting for most of this season. From the Burton 2nd half up till the Accy game is the only period we've been exciting.

Today though I'll happily watch this borefest if it ends in a result, if we lose though it'll be hard to take.

I think getting Stewart back in the middle will give us a more forward thinking approach. Before he was injured everything went through him. We have set up for a nil nil here.

Dougall showing with that effort why we dont score form midfield.

I really don't get how you can shoot so badly.

Sunderland seem to be doing the same sideways and backwards passing that seems to infuriate so many on here. It’s called keeping possession if you can’t attack. If the opposition don’t have the ball they can’t score.

Pretty much a season defining game and apparently we should be playing mindless attacking football instead of looking after the ball and waiting for an opportunity to present itself.

The way we keep the ball is good, until a point we then overplay and go back and hoof as you say making it utterly pointless.

Surely thr manager should say once you have worked your way forward you have to try something.
