2nd bid rejected we have now made a 3rd bid
Lancs Live are saying the latest bid is pushing 7 figures and doesnt include ThornilyFor example, if you guys rate Thorniley at say 400k and are offering let's say 500k plus Thorniley so a total transfer of 900k.
The fact that Thorniley can only play for us or you again this season, means we have the upper hand for negotiating the Thorniley worth to the deal.
If you value him too highly within the deal i.e. not offering enough for CB, then we simply keep saying no and he stays with you for the rest of the season and CB stays with us. You can't say/threaten that there is interest for Thorniley from elsewhere to pressure us in to doing a deal for him, because he can't sign elsewhere for this season.
So the options remain to up a cash only deal for CB, reduce the value of Thorniley in a deal whilst increasing the cash, offer someone else and cash or pull the plug.
The longer it goes, the less time there is to close out the deal. If we really want to accept, you'd think we'd want to allow as much time as possible for it to get done to allow any potential replacement to be sorted or avoid it collapsing due to time constraints.Seems like it took Oxford about 3 hours to reject the bid we made this morning.
It's been 2 hours since we made the improved bid so we should be hearing soon if it was rejected...
The longer it goes without a word being said the better.
That could definitely be right, but IMO if it takes longer to reject the bid, then that just means they are giving it more consideration than before or they are telling us we're close and they want a little more or a player to replace Brannagan (like Robson)The longer it goes, the less time there is to close out the deal. If we really want to accept, you'd think we'd want to allow as much time as possible for it to get done to allow any potential replacement to be sorted or avoid it collapsing due to time constraints.
If they had a chance of getting Jerry Yates they'd be paying a private jet for CB to Blackpool. Worth 4/5 times whatever CB is worth.
Or leave it to the summer, when you've already lost in play offs and we will very much stay a Championship side. Then he (or his agent) will come knockingSo the options remain to up a cash only deal for CB, reduce the value of Thorniley in a deal whilst increasing the cash, offer someone else and cash or pull the plug.
Getting towards the type of thing we'd accept then I imagine.Lancs Live are saying the latest bid is pushing 7 figures and doesnt include Thornily
Yep. Seen him say it a few times that thread and brought it up a few days ago. Completely deluded. If they had a chance of getting Jerry Yates they'd be paying a private jet for CB to Blackpool. Worth 4/5 times whatever CB is worth.
Exactly, any deal you do now, will be more expensive than the summer.Or leave it to the summer, when you've already lost in play offs and we will very much stay a Championship side. Then he (or his agent) will come knocking
800k plus Robson would suit both parties well I think; Oxford get a good fee and solid replacement for a player whose contract is up next year while we get our manager's #1 target.Think we would more likely accept any deal including Robson over any including Thorniley
It takes players a few weeks to embed Critchley's methods, he's made it clear he wants CB now. I expect this to run all the way to 11pm.Exactly, any deal you do now, will be more expensive than the summer.
Makes sense for everyone to reconvene in May.
They've bottled the last 3, I do think they will make the Play Offs again though. Much then will depend on who is in form and have the strongest squad. It is a beast of a division.Oxford bottle the play-offs every year
I just hope, whatever the outcome with Brannagan, that we've not put all our eggs in one basket, we need to strengthen in midfield and if it's not going to be him, we really need someone else instead
We need some" self control " with Brannagan. Constantly upping the bid smacks of desperation in what has become a sellers market when the clock is ticking!. Wait until the season ends, as captainox suggested. Keep Bowler and as he tears championship clubs apart his value will rocket.
The last 3?They've bottled the last 3, I do think they will make the Play Offs again though. Much then will depend on who is in form and have the strongest squad. It is a beast of a division.
I told you this over an hour ago. Post #233
Apologies, you were below us 2018/19 season. The last 3?
Well you got me with that one ... Brentford ?Just seen Josh Bowler outside the ground with a cheese board in one hand and a bowl of chips cheese and gravy in the other. Make of that what you will
That went wellDidn’t he hold out last season for promotion with Oxford
Bid in for him apparentlyIn other news Peterborough have brought in 2 midfielders, I suspect the Norburn deal will be more likely.
I wouldn’t read too much into it, we already know that was there stance publicly.
This indicates that they'll reject the second bid soon and I'd assume that'll make us move on to Norburn.
Il be pissed if Bowler goes, especialy for 1.5MForest back in for Bowler and they're getting close to our asking price.
They seem to be getting desperate. They had a 2,000,000 bid for Jed Wallace rejected earlier so that may be around what their budget is for a winger.
Perhaps the rumors of our valuation of Bowler being around 1,500,000 were correct
Bowler for 1.5 would be criminalIf Bowler goes and we don't sign a replacement and centre midfielder, I'm avoiding this forum and Twitter, it'll be a meltdown.
Absolutely, he’s worth way more than thatIl be pissed if Bowler goes, especialy for 1.5M

You do know it's Oxford were talking about. That team we destroyed last season with a weaker side than we have now? Why are Oxford suddenly a hot bed of footballing talent?
