Transfer deadline day thread

Bowler goes it will improve a team in the championship over us , and we yet to still play forest again
and if forest don’t go up , then next season he will be back again twice and it could damage us
i thought we got away from selling our best players to rivals in same league 🤷

Jerry yates was given an improved contract , so why can’t bowler get one , bowler is better player 🤷

plus you watch , bowler gets better , forest sell him for millions or he takes forest into the prem

think it’s selling to a team in our league what’s bugging me more

Is it just me who will feel extremely frustrated, angry and saddened by this?

He’s the one player we’ve got that I come to a game for to see play, because of what he does. If this is down to money (and considering the peanuts we are being told about) then they need to know he’s irreplaceable, for that price.

This goes much much further than money. This is entertainment. Gotta say, we are gonna be void of it if this happens. I’m just being realistic here

Bowler doesnt have to leave. Summer he will get a much bigger deal with a fantastic sell on clause

Think he will stay - win win for Bowler. Plays as good next year and bigger and better than Forest will come knocking.

Of course he could run down his contract and command a massive wages/contract?

I'd be really disappointed if he goes for 1.5m. For that amount, if he's not interested in a new contract, I'd rather just keep him and not bring anyone in

I can’t believe we’re even considering selling him in January, we do have a shot at the playoffs, we did it last year. Come on Simon, you want entertaining football, this is the guy who does it. Don’t sell him please.

It's up to Critch and Sadler to decide if we sell Bowler and what price if we do, and it affects them much more than anybody. And they know all the facts. They are not stupid. And they are both ambitious for this club.
Yes but selling to rival in same league , why not give him an improved contract 🤷

I think we need to have a little perspective here, Josh Bowler is an exciting player and he has hit a rich vein of form recently.
It would be an enormous disappointment to see him go, but as we've seen before every player has their price, if the club agrees a deal, at whatever price, no one is holding a gun to our head, we don't have to sell, there will have to be an agreement by us to sell.
Do we not trust our board to act in the best interests of the club? Do we think they don't know the value of Josh Bowler? If and it still is if at the moment, we decide to sell, could it be that it's the right thing to do for the player, who may want to leave, and for the club who can reinvest the fee gained for a player who arrived for nothing.

Simon Sadler doesn't have to explain anything to me if Josh Bowler leaves, I trust him and the club to make the right decision.

And if he relegates pool next season , scoring against us , I know that’s a risk with any player pool sell , but why not give him an improved contract or sell not to a team in our league

I get what you're saying and you'd like to think the new contract angle would have been thought of once the early interest from Forest started but for whatever reason that's not happened.
I just think I trust the club to make the right decision, I know it could come back to haunt us but that's the nature of the beast.

£1.5m for Bowler is Oystonesque and I don't believe it for a minute
I maybe be on my own here but I don't think £1.5m for someone with 18months left on their contract is a poor offer, any sale will likely have add ons and sell on fees. If he had 2.5+ years left on his contract then ofcourse we would be receiving his true value, which I believe to be somewhere between 4 and 6 million. If he goes to forest and does well we could end up with 20% of a hefty fee, taking his value up to where many believe it to be anyway.

In addition, unlike Brannagan, Bowler hasn't come out and said he wants to stay so we could risk keeping a player who wants to leave. He's unlikely to sign an extension with us given that there are clubs who could afford to pay him 10x what he's on here, even more so if he becomes a free agent having run his contract down.

I'd be very surprised if we see him in tangerine again. Bloody hope I'm wrong though 😂

right there enough , then come out and say this , makes people like me understand better , but also who says pool can’t match what forest offer in wages , grass isn’t always greener
I agree but you know what BFC are like these days, they treat the fans like mushrooms as far as transfer information goes. Everyone we sign is an ‘undisclosed’ fee, as far as they are concerned and I’m not saying it’s wrong, it’s nothing to do with us. But as you say a little information occasionally would put a lot of speculation to bed.

If Bowler does go and we do get Brannigan, Norburn and possibly Rogers on loan from City it will make us a better team. The only downside is that Josh has that X factor that makes him unplayable and he can develop into a true match winner.

Overall though we could become a very useful and more consistent team.

It’s their right to keep everything confidential, but we are customers, we pay up front every year and many like me paid for a full year without seeing any return. Without us the club wouldn’t exist, so I do believe we have a right to know at least some of what’s going on. Premiership clubs mostly reveal fees.

Josh has the potential, no doubt about it. However lets be realistic, he's hardly been consistent with form as the many posts from many posters have indicated this season.

I for one would love him to stay, but he could easily be another TInce and have sporadic performances.

It’s all about ambition and building a team to push for the next stage. You generally don’t sell your best without a Plan B

"Alan Nixon suggesting to Radio Lancs that Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest are both 'at it' in terms of bidding for Josh Bowler, and they are potentially getting closer to a deal being done.

"Also that Cameron Brannagan and Oliver Norburn are still potentially live as we head late into the window

It would be sad to see him go so quickly but that's football. I suppose it might work for him to see out his contract and pocket the equivalent fee for himself in 18 months time.
But then again clubs as dull and uninteresting as preston will pay fairly ordinary players around 20000 a week so he bags himself a contract like that or better at Fulham or Forest and he is set up for life.

Better not sell anyone ever again. Have them put down at the end of the contract.
Well if your going to be rude then two can play this game 🤷
better sell all our best players to pne , blackburn , forest , Middlesbrough ,ect ect , teams in our league
Jerry , keshi , Cj , big marv and so on and on
I was just making a point of , why can’t we sell not in our league and why not offer him a better wage to keep him

All the prices are speculation. We’ll never know how much Bowler will go for as it will be undisclosed. Same goes for if we bring anyone else in to the club.

I also paid for a year of nothing and like you didn’t begrudge it. I also think, as I said in my post, we should be told more than we are. Someone must be telling people like Nixon, he must be getting his information from inside the club, but we as paying customers who last season, as you say, paid in advance to help the club, get nothing. I by the way purchase several STs and took the option of leaving my money in, feel a little miffed about never hearing anything from official sources.

We haven't offered a 1 plus 1 contract to anyone bar Josh Bowler ( Who Everton reportedly paid 4 million for)

This suggests to me it was Josh that wanted that contract to promote himself and be put in the shop window.

If that is the case its likely a release clause will have been added.

The one thing we do know is Josh will move on and that all monies from the sale will be re-invested
