yep squad rotation disastrous for Man city last seasonI think Critchley had given up by then as he was clearly looking for a way out
Highly unprofessional

Yes, though ineffective at present, can see his career could be revived there. He needs to be playing high up the field , off another striker. Would be embarrassing if he did well , not convinced we have a other striker lined up. Would be happy if we have.I'm a bit sad about it. One of my favourite players. Will probably help Millwall into the play offs.
The comparison with Brett has certainly given me a chuckle this morningLavery is 23 and a full i'nal.
If you read above the comparison with Brett and you look when it all 'clicked' for him he was 25 when he got his Soton move.
We need to keep Lavery and bring him on.
I was guesstimatingEven when he scored in January...Against Millwall...?
The difference is that Brett was at a lower league level and choices were less. Lavery is competing against others and currently losing out. We also don't really have the time to let him learn and develop at this level. He's one of those that would be good to keep IF you have the budget and the wider squad depth. In our situation, I suspect we'll have to move him on to move the squad forward, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him prosper (whatever that means) for someone else. The comparison with Brett has certainly given me a chuckle this morning
He’s certainly very rough around the edges and can / could be quite tenacious and chase down apparently dead causes.
Unfortunately he’s just looked like a complete pudding though for ages and whilst there might ‘be a player in there somewhere’ I’m not convinced he has the technical attributes to be anything but hit and miss at this level….
Are you really comparing us to Man Cityyep squad rotation disastrous for Man city last season
Correct, see the ridiculous figures being quoted for some of the average midfielders with only 1 year left on their contracts. If its permanent it has to be a big figure. It looks like he is going. Think this one will come back and bite us on the arse. 10 goals last season on limited appearances, 23 years old, full international, longish contract. How much would webe quoted if we were looking to buy from another Championship club ? Needs to be a good seven figure deal to make sense.
If it goes through I'd expect Morgan to be incoming.
We might be able to actually get something for Lavery. It's not like he's a Sarkic or a Nuttall that you're looking to get off the books any way you can. He has at least some value, and is presumably of more use to Millwall than he is to us. Hopefully we'll get a fee for him that we can re-invest.The difference is that Brett was at a lower league level and choices were less. Lavery is competing against others and currently losing out. Can only be a significant cash sale return on a free transfer for it to work. If it's a loan you might as well throw in permission to play against us and let him have an empty net.It looks like he is going. Brett had Murphs, who is far and away a better CF than Madine. The difference is that Brett was at a lower league level and choices were less. Fair point…. A lot of the players we’ve signed would / could have probably blossomed in League 1 (perhaps Lavery included)…The difference is that Brett was at a lower league level and choices were less. Yeah it's a shame we got promotedFair point…. A lot of the players we’ve signed would / could have probably blossomed in League 1 (perhaps Lavery included)…
Unfortunately Critchley had other ideas.Yeah it's a shame we got promoted
Would have been far better to stay in the comfort zone that is LG 1
Nah… but you can’t hang on to lower level players hoping they’re going to miraculously transform into something they’re not.Yeah it's a shame we got promoted

What makes you think Yates is out of position wide in a 3? He is certainly not a CF and his best season at Swindon was in exactly that position.Lavery and Yates need a consistent run of games in their favoured position to be effective. This 433 needs to be successful fast if we're letting Lavery go and playing Yates out of position to accommodate it.
Hopefully we'll bring in someone who can hit the ground running and score goals in this league, but it seems strange to let go a player who has already proven he can get into double figures at this level.
Yep but something has to give and its not looking like the club are willing to pay that much to improve thingsNah… but you can’t hang on to lower level players hoping they’re going to miraculously transform into something they’re not.
We’ve got too many (not quite up to it) players as it is.
Where did he play when he had his best season for us?What makes you think Yates is out of position wide in a 3? He is certainly not a CF and his best season at Swindon was in exactly that position.
As a two but we don't play that nowWhere did he play when he had his best season for us?
I know, that was my point. 433 is going to have to be successful fast.As a two but we don't play that now
I would still like to know the truth about the Bishop deal as he could have played that roleI know, that was my point. 433 is going to have to be successful fast.
Or in Laverys case, revert to what he was.Nah… but you can’t hang on to lower level players hoping they’re going to miraculously transform into something they’re not.
What was he though?Or in Laverys case, revert to what he was.
In my view he needs games, a place in the system (wide right) , confidence and meaningful ball.
Unless we’ve got better lined up, but we know how recruiT ent is going, so I won’t hold my breath.Bonkers
Letting a striker go when the two others we have can't hit a barn door.
In answer to your second point, could it be the night time attractions of The gold Coast?A couple of points:
- We can’t keep changing the whole squad every time there’s a change of manager.
- Why do all our players’ returning from injury seem so far off the pace, compared to before?
yep, that's the big question. Can Lavery re-discover the form he showed prior to his injury? Mixed feelings on this one. If he can then we've let a very good promising player go. And probably on the cheap too.I'm surprised by this one. I like Lavery and thought he looked a cracking talent before his injury. I'd have thought we would have kept him for at least for this season to see if he could recapture his form. MA either doesn't think he can adapt to the 4-3-3 formation or is maybe trying to generate additional transfer funds to get some more deals over the line..,
I'd say 'possibly' on the cheap rather than 'probably'.yep, that's the big question. Can Lavery re-discover the form he showed prior to his injury? Mixed feelings on this one. If he can then we've let a very good promising player go. And probably on the cheap too.
He scored 8 goals in 15 games before his injury, and 12 in 40 overall that season. Point me to a better record at BFC since the start of last season. What was he though?
A tenacious, but all too predictable, player who's finishing was hit and miss... He had a limited game when he arrived, he's not developed it beyond that. Another player who suddenly became a superstar when he was injured.
Yep. We're getting £1m bids turned down for league one players, and players who have never played above league one in the last year of their contract. I don't think we should sell him but if we do, it needs to be probably £2m+ at least. Anything less and we're failing badly imo. The fact that it's Millwall doesn't suggest we're holding out for much although I havent seen an offer accepted yet.It looks like he is going. Disagree. I think £1m would be a very decent return for someone we got on a free who will be mostly warming the bench this season.Yep. The bottom line is we undervalue our players constantly and will never make progress while that's still happening.
Sorry.. Where are you getting your stats from?He scored 8 goals in 15 games before his injury, and 12 in 40 overall that season. Point me to a better record at BFC since the start of last season.
How you can say another player who suddenly became a superstar when he was injured is beyond me. A sad reflection of a throwaway society where trying to fix a problem is to be avoided and buying a new shiny version preferred.
