Had my doubts when Sonny came on but bugger me, didn't he do well! Best I've seen him play really took the game by the scruff of its neck and dragged us up the pitch at times.

CJ though... what a performance 😍😍😍 just goes to show what he can do when his strengths are utilised properly!!! Defender had a good 5 yards on him at times and he still ended up on top!

Must admit, when halftime came I was fearing the worst. Preston were in the ascendancy and looking really sharp forcing maxi into some really good saves. Here we are again seeing a totally different pool show up after halftime.

What a result.

Spoiled for choice but Patino for me. We were under the cosh until he slotted. CJ superb and Jerry clinical. Not a bad problem to have when you can't pick!
 
PNE Online: North End players just don't get it do they? Why should they? A set of hasbeens, never-weres and never gonna-bees aboard the abyss that is the Deepdale/Championship gravy train of footballing passengers. To a man, happy to pass the ball sideways, and happy to pass the buck, and let someone else take the risks. What did we expect from these big time bottlers? That's why they ended up at Preston, a transit stop for talented footballers and a long term nursing home for the chronically mediocre player.

I was playfully ridiculed by a couple on here last night, ie Phil !! when I suggested that CJ might make a good Centre Forward. Well you saw the evidence today , great first touch and control, totally outpaced the opposition and fired in from 40 yards with his weaker right foot. Who’s laughing now 😂
 
If we could sort out our defensive disorganisation - we look chaotic in our final third. we know Marvs a decent player, we know Juds is a decent, Connoly can do a job, hubby is a solid defender, thommo theres a player there, Williams did ok again when he came on. Gabs we know is decent.

i have no idea what the solution is.

going forward we look really good - driving out with the likes of Carey, dougal making runs into space, Patino with some cleverness; we can go long to Madine or go down the flanks.

hes got some footballing smarts, hes not the most skillful but play him to his strengths and he gets the job done. today was a decent combination up front, three players who have enough footballing brains to make a three work,

Thought there wasn’t too much to separate the teams in the first 60. Would probably say we edged it as you could tell you had a game on Wednesday and were tiring.

Once Patino scored, we absolutely capitulated and you took advantage. Can’t complain with that. Deserved win. Took your chances.

Just a real shame that I can’t go to a game without getting pelted by a bottle. Lancs Police are ** shambolic. I can’t believe they have months to prep and couldn’t organise a piss up in a brewery (both sets of fans at it btw).

We should all be able to go to a football match without having to put up with aggressive dick heads who seem to think it's fine to go picking on people to assault. It should have gone out in the Ark, It could easily have been prevented and should have been. If supporters want to fight each other that badly let them join up somewhere and get on with it and don't go and waste the NHS's time afterwards. Normal football supporters should be able to walk safely side by side even with their most local rivals, good banter, no problem.

As for the football, it was a proper old fashioned blood and guts derby game and not a dirty game either. Another cracking game to watch and I thought we were worth the win based on the last 30 minutes.
 
Thought we were comfortable for an hour and at half time thought we would win it

As soon as Diaby came on we were all at sea (guys a liability) knew then we were done for

Last 20 mins you were all over us

Really good game overall

Big improvement from last year for us but ultimately you take the points , and the bragging rights

A pity it sounds like there was some trouble post match again but I guess you’ll alway get that with the minority

100%. Think if we’d got that second we could have gone on and scored another.

You scored and we completely capitulated. Didn’t help we had to change the back 3 as Diaby is about as useful as a chocolate teapot.

Can’t complain with the result. Took your chances and took advantage. We didn’t!

We weren't great for large parts of that game, but the players didn't stop running and four very well taken goals. Jerry's interception to set up the final goal just personified jerry, and another two on to tally, who said he couldn't score in this division.

some poor defending we kind of gifted Preston their goals, Marv was all over the place first half, last year apart from his recovery capabilities he read the game well, always seemed to be in the right place.

Their second from the free kick, firstly very poor defending from it, or maybe just one of those sneaky balls that no one can properly deal with, but they should never have had the free kick Connoly was pushed in the back and fell onto the ball.

Here we go with the rant, we have again played against the ref. CJ pulled back twice by the same player and once by another, the third the ref finally did something. Patino wiped out deliberately, no action at all, Patino CJ wins the ball and hair-bun-shit-on-car takes a dramatic dive -Patino or CJ booked. Connolly wiped out in the second half - nothing given, Dougs wiped out towards the end not even an attempt to play the ball, nothing from the ref.

weve probably lost a couple more players today but the way the ref let stuff go by preston we could have had a lot more going off with injuries.

the best response score four, send the lilyshites back to their shitehole.

loved seeing Madine chasing their centre half at full tilt in the 93rd minute.

Jerry MOM followed very closely by CJ. Patino grew into it, fantastic goal, Carey took a while to get going but he when he did he caused them all kinds of problems, Madine just made the Nob end Ch's day a miserable one. Dougall had a very good game.

I thought the ref was spot on personally…compared to what we have hd to deal with recently anyway. He is premier league so i thought the difference was there to see

compared to what we have had to deal with recently - but from the first minute with the pull back he let too much go for Preston and picked up a lot in the favour for nothing challenges, Patino's booking for what exactly, he came away with the ball, and did nothing when woodburn just wiped Patino out pushing him into the hoarding not even an attempt to play the ball. Weve got and had players suspended for way worse this year.

Ye they get stuff wrong they are human, but the overall picture…i thought he was very good

The basic design of the East, surrounding streets and inept policing make trouble inevitable unfortunately.

A shame that decent football fans have to be subjected to violence in this day and age. 😞

Nope. Most agreed with me pre match. Had a wicked game but has let us down multiple times and flattered to deceive. But hey easy to criticise after the game..I've been right a million times about players and I don't come on after a derby win acting a tit do I.

Anyone who agreed with you was also clearly wrong.
All the people I spoke to prematch (who actually go to the games, rather than watch on TV) thought he deserved a chance after some good performances off the bench.
How about supporting the players rather than consistently criticising them?
