As I’ve said at least twice on this thread, I have
@20togo on ignore and so more often than not, I don’t read or see his posts. I don’t wish to respond to him or engage with him (unless I can be bothered).
The problem with 20’s is he’s thick and so can’t grasp the basic difference between a contradiction and two quite different issues, hopefully you are t quite so daft, but let’s see…
Firstly, I am very well aware that many fans in Blackpool are on low incomes and that it is a deprived area. I’m also empathetic towards those individuals. I must admit, I can’t recall ever suggesting that the Club should ‘look after them’, but I certainly believe that the Club (in an ideal world) should try to accommodate low income families with a cheaper price option.
In the past I’ve suggested there might be a small section of the East or perhaps in the longer term a standing area. Of course, the Club do offer a cheaper option in the family stand.
As for Jumping all over this thread, I have already explained my primary objection and I’ve repeated myself several times already. However the issue (as I see it) is twofold:
Number 1… The portrayal of the elderly as sone kind of useless and incapable individuals who cannot use 15 year old technology.
Number 2…The ridiculous accusation of the club decision being ‘immoral’ and ‘targeting the vulnerable’… Which I viewed as OTT.
I also think that in this instance you and others are completely overplaying both the ‘physical’ and ‘cognitive’ issues that relate to the new system in order to try and emphasise a point. To that end (and I still maintain my point) the biggest obstacle for most over 65’s is a lack of willingness to embrace new technology as opposed to any mental or physical impairment…And I’m afraid that is a choice and not something the rest of society (or the football club) is responsible for.
(A classic example - A bloke on this thread mentioned his dad doesn’t pay by card…. Now card payments have been evolving and in action available for over of 50 years and not only that, but he’ll use a card to enter the ground… what’s the difference ??)
As I’ve already said, I do have empathy for any individual who might be vulnerable, suffering from any disability etc… It obviously make life very difficult for a whole range of reasons.. It’s possible in some circumstances a plastic card (as opposed to a digital ticket) may make their lives easier….. It is also possible that for others who have disabilities or challenges, that the Digital Option might prove to be beneficial.
Whichever way you look at it, however, the number of individuals who will genuinely be unable to manage the digital system (through no fault of their own) is likely to be extremely small…Probably small enough to be considered on a case by case basis.
As far as the Club is concerned and for the benefit of us all, it’s important that we embrace better technology… Whether that is for the benefit of the Team, improving the service in the bars and food kiosks or in the way tickets are sold.
In this case the Club has two main objectives…
1. It wishes to ensure everyone who can / will change to digital tickets does so as quickly as possible.
2. It needs to ensure that an alternative option exists to protect the kind of fans that you mention.
My question to you is how does the Club achieve those objectives without a price differential?
