Yet another cog in Blackpool Town Centre revival. Will check it out tomorrow. Really want it to be a success. Onwards and upwards!
Hope so as well.Used to go every Saturday morning many moons ago, pork chops from ‘The Italian Stallions” stall, frozen swordfish and tuna from the fish stall (obvs), fresh veg & fruit, and nuts and spices from the stall at the exit to Edward Street. Hope the revamp is a big success.
There is room for 14 retail units off from where the food and bar outlets are. They are completed and should be up and running fairly soon.Looks like a food hall now. Are there any actual stalls left now?

14 stalls coming later in summer. Was just going to say exactly that myself.
Although I'm not too sure that there would ever be too much in there that I couldn't get elsewhere so perhaps all is good,
There's plentyLooks very good.
Literally said on a thread a few weeks ago there's fuck all good choice for food in bpt.
Great news.
NowThere's plenty
Yup. Still got all the old singles with the centres popped out. Slade, T Rex, Wizzard etc etcNice pork pies. I preferred St. John's for ex juke box records
I went there for singles, bought my first one from the stall with ex jukebox records. Double Barrel - Dave and Ansel CollinsYup. Still got all the old singles with the centres popped out. Slade, T Rex, Wizzard etc etc
No monkfish.Used to go every Saturday morning many moons ago, pork chops from ‘The Italian Stallions” stall, frozen swordfish and tuna from the fish stall (obvs), fresh veg & fruit, and nuts and spices from the stall at the exit to Edward Street. Hope the revamp is a big success.
God that image of the centre bit missing from singles really dragged me back to the late seventies!Yup. Still got all the old singles with the centres popped out. Slade, T Rex, Wizzard etc etc
Yeh, but only when we could afford it!No monkfish.
Great stall. Used to love the Shrewsbury biscuitsI remember the biscuit stall, stacks of fresh baked biscuits. Lovely smell
They were recycled from jukeboxesGod that image of the centre bit missing from singles really dragged me back to the late seventies!
Why did they have the bit missing?
I remember having loads of the middle bits for that very reason
Not forgetting the cheese stall where the stall holder would say “thanks for t’order”Used to go every Saturday morning many moons ago, pork chops from ‘The Italian Stallions” stall, frozen swordfish and tuna from the fish stall (obvs), fresh veg & fruit, and nuts and spices from the stall at the exit to Edward Street. Used to love that and always bought crab sticks to take to the washy great with a pint of bodds.Yeh, but only when we could afford it!
Yup - you could also get a circular plastic "middle" that sat on the spindle of your record player. I recall the lack of a centre for singles was big in northern soul where a lot of the records came from jukeboxes in the backyards of the USA?They were recycled from jukeboxes
Why?Did they suffer from flatulenceMy Grandma and Grandad used to have the old fashioned sweet stall in there. I always remember the unique smells that those sort of places had.
The Odeon. We were sent to the Ritz on the prom or the King Edward alternate Saturdays for cartoons, three stooges, laurel and Hardy etc. While my mum got on with running the boarding house on Coop StreetMeeting up with a couple of former BGS boys for a couple of days of nostalgia in August.
Will put it on the list.
Used to be sent there by my Mum to get streaky bacon and pork pies after The Odeon Club on Saturday morning.
Used to get a free sample of cheese from him when me mam bought her crumbly Lancashire there. Not forgetting the cheese stall where the stall holder would say “thanks for t’order”
Oh and the Shrewsbury and ginger biscuit stall.
Cold meat from the front stall and fresh baps from the bakery stall was a standard Saturday night tea for me and mine going back 20 odd years
This is much needed progress though.
I personally think it will be rammed most weekends. Looks a bit like Albert Schloss now Definitely moved with the times here and an excellent addition to the town.
