At the moment the virus is winning. The west is hiding away and even when the uk population has been vaccinated, we are still at risk of new strains until the whole world is done. Thats years away, if ever.

I think eventually covid will be like the seasonal flu. We don't fear leaving our houses because we're sacred of catching flu. You're right though about the vaccine. The more that get vaccinated, the better things will be.

I’d never really thought about it tbh. But since you have mentioned it. I think Brexiteer actually sounds very British. A bit like brigadier

You really can learn a lot on here, my guess would be that Brigadier was probably a French word, I'm pretty sure Lieutenant would be.
I suppose the French have had a big influence on our language and culture over the years, at least we have been good enough to give them Le Weekend.

Why do we pronounce Lieutenant - leftenant?

Whereas the Americans pronounce Lieutenant- lootenant?

Always wondered.

The left lost the General Election and Brexit vote. So, we do have fact based knowledge on the silent majority.

A few shouting and prolific left leaning posters lost to the silent majority. Fact.
