All stock investors out there......

Thoughts on EIS shares bought via Wealth club.
I'm trying to reduce my tax bill. They offer tax relief against this years income.

What's the easiest/cheapest platform for investing small amounts, a little dabble in some of the stuff which comes up here?

I'd only do small amounts and it would only ever be an amount of could lose and it but be an issue; but there's some fun to be had but the looks of it as well as money - and it's not just luck either - unlike scratch cards etc.

Here’s some. I don’t use the apps and wouldn’t recommend eToro. I still use the local James Brearley website but their £20 p/m platform fee they introduced in 2019/20 is wearing a little thin tbh, especially if you’re a small investor.

Some of those are hammers to crack nuts.

I use Saxo, Interactive Brokers and Think or Swim - none I would recommend to a beginner.

If you are just doing a little bit for fun, use a free platform such as etoro or Free Trade.

The markets are the worlds biggest Casino, although you can stack the house in your favour - sometimes!!!

Also remember it does not work on logic and share prices are as much about emotion as fundamentals - and in many cases more about emotion!!

Although it can be fun, it can be really stressful 🤞

I use interactive investor which is a monthly fee and a per transaction fee.
There are plenty of new ‘free’ apps like Etoro but there’s a catch behind the free element
You don’t get the best purchase or sale price as they bulk all the orders together and place at the same time.

Might be ok for small trades (£ hundreds) but test if first to see what price you actually get compared to what you could have had if you’d paid £8 commission (for example) to see if it was worthwhile

ARC minerals ... Well worth a punt currently around 4p been as high as 8p reasonable chance of 20p on recent news and if plans/takeovers/partnerships come off. Legal cases settled and sitting on some good sites with majors very interested such as Anglo American. Some good movement this week .... Do YOUR research but I've always fancied this one to go big ..

Looks like securing supply of oil and gas is where its at for the minute. Certainly not Bio. Few slapped 4rses on that front.

Arc eh. GLR long for me on the mining

Good luck

Anyone else out shopping today.....?

Increased my positions in IAG and RR just now and considering buying back into BT after selling recently at about 190.

Anyone?

Still short on Tesla.
Have an eye on Crude oil. Tempted to short but there may still be some upside.
May hedge both ways as price of oil will fall sometime.

Brent gone crazy recently. $117 again. Suspect a fall back when Iran oil becomes available again. HUR been doing well. On track to be debt free & in profit by end of this month. That will see the next sp increase.

MrsTSS has decided she wants to start buying into bitcoin; she very nearly just had a problem with a probable scam!

What is the easiest and most secure way to put small amounts (£200 or so every now and again) of money into it?

Cheers

Edited to add; she's gone Etoro as it is the easiest to get involved in.

intrigued by what’s happening at Eurasia mining. (EUA).

Been a darling for investors over the past 6 years and the conflict has decimated it in 1 week

Etoro fine or Coinbase also good. Let me know if you'd like a referral code for £10 kickback. 😀

Heard mixed things about eToro. Read the reviews. Cheapest, but has many downsides.
Feel a bit like it’s high risk in Bitcoin now. Especially after you’ve clearly missed the recent take off point at the start of the pandemic. It’s down on the year. Nearly 50% down on the last 4 months, and might continue to fall with Ukraine war. Fallen steadily and sharply in value from November heights. Time to buy might be at the end of this war, or in 2024 at the start of the next expected Bitcoin halving event. Imo only. DYOR.

Gone vertical that SFM. Whats the story there ?
Absolute sound financial fundamentals and growing quite quickly - but steadily - and has done so for many years.

Plus appears to be undervalued by the market in comparison to its rivals.

Also just announced a $600m share buy back.

DYOR research as I could be wrong.

MrsTSS is impressed with the knowledge on here. She's been telling me SFM has been trending!

She's asking me to ask for anything for her to have a look at. She'll do additional research etc (as far as she's able to) but needs a starting place and you lot are a source of knowledge.

Please don't worry about anything going wrong - these aren't life savings etc. She's just having a bit of fun with what is effectively loose change - small amounts of money left at the end of the week.

Cheers for any tips 👍

Hurricane energy up massively since Xmas, and probably some way to go

Far more rewarding than gambling on fixed boxing, snooker, football matches.
Agree totally
Obviously never gamble what you would not be willing to lose, but banks will recover after conflict but not be spectacular but safe. Hurricane energy will do well for a few months but then might slip badly.
Only reason I invested was the poor return elsewhere

Dumb Money Live YouTube channel worth a look for US stock picks. Of course DYOR but they have more winners than losers.

Rule no. 1 friend. Take no notice of chat boards in the trading game.

Take little notice of a company broker/nomad

Take even less notice of the amateurs on here. Herd followers and tea leaf readers most of them.

And like most gamblers. we only tell folk about the successes.😂

Good luck

Paulco?

Bitcoin is finite / limited. Blockchain technology is transformational. Some of the smaller supporting companies can offer better short-term returns.

If Putin is removed and peace restored to Ukraine, sanctions & suspensions lifted on Russia, many of their companies are currently 80-90% under true market value. Post war, they will rapidly regain sp.

So....

How are everyone's tips doing??
Currently 250% up on Hurricane. Want more though and it’s still massively undervalued. Expected it to rocket after the AM contract extension news - RNS last Friday just before close, but it went down Mon & Tues unbelievably. Up today. Hopefully that’s the start. News of the last lift shortly and get the bonds paid off if Brent value holds. There’s also a deal in place now with BP to have payments up front if needed. Looking very good for 2022, especially now the drive is to be independent from Russia for gas & oil.

I class that sort of stock as Gambling - not a criticism just how I see it - and I do the same on other stocks.

If you took your total investment portfolio, including available cash - what percentage have you risked on this??

Just seeing if I am a scaredy-cat etc 😂

About 75% lol. Only because I sold a load in September. Bought back into some. Appreciate it’s a higher risk than some. Always been like that for me.

We bought a shoulder of lamb reduced to £4, punched holes in it and filled with anchovies, garlic and rosemary, tasted amazing. So if your investments go tits up just remember a tasty meal with your nearest and dearest is priceless and if your investments go well the best thing you can buy is freedom and independence from worrying about money.
Great post!
