Angela Rayner

Sorry all, I couldn't answer your questions as I've been out all day.
Seen on Yahoo. Angela Rayner could face a police investigation over a council house row after a Tory MP reported her to Greater Manchester Police.
Ms Rayner, the deputy Labour leader, is accused of providing false information about her living circumstances before she sold her former council home.
James Daly, the Conservative MP for Bury North, has written to Greater Manchester Police to demand an investigation after Ms Rayner appeared to give two different addresses in official documents.

WHAT IS THE SOLUTION?

Vote Green.
Someone demanding a police investigation is not the same is it? Any investigation would be by HMRC; and there isn’t one.

Rather scraping the barrel by Guido Fawkes. If you read Dan Needle’s explainer on it, you’ll see it is is malicious bollocks.

No doubt the Tories are going all out for any dirt they can dig up & smears on any Labour MP's (now there's a surprise) I guess they are getting desperate with the polls being against them. Expect to see more of this & some more nasty tricks. In this instance I haven't a clue if she has done anything of merit wrong, but I'd bet she's closer to understanding the needs of the majority of people in the UK than some Etonian multi millionaire.

How would you know that?

Also, HMRC would investigate the tax side, but there are potential election offences in play as well, and that would be a matter for the police.

Is that the one in the Times? I can only see the first paragraph but "the tax system is complicated" is not a terribly convincing defence when you're talking about rental income and CGT, particularly when she is asking us to trust her to run the country.

Also, bear in mind that Mr Neidle, is a senior member of the Labour Party, and is thus not an impartial authority.

Does the "explainer" get any better?

💯
Only other country in Europe who has our voting system is Belarus says it all really.
This two party can only win an election is utter shite so you end up with mediocrity.

Red get in then blue and back to red meanwhile all those talented folk from the Greens, social democrats, Liberals etc etc are thrown aside.
Are those the same Lib Dems led by Clegg who campaigned on a promise to abolish University tuition fees, then voted to raise them to acquire the position of deputy PM? They showed their true colours didn’t they?

Why do you keep going on about the Greens? Your posting history is so anti-Labour and pro-Tory, do you take us all for idiots?

You’re blue, own it.
That is not a sensible comment for someone with your name.

I've explained many times, and for your information I'll explain again.
I am a swing voter, granted I look a little towards the right, but, I have voted for the following in my life time, Conservative, Lib Dem, Monster Raving Loony, Green. I have voted green for a number of years, and am pleased to say we now have four green councillors in Bradford District. When I came to Shipley we only had one. I have never voted Labour, as I cannot commit to or believe in a lot of their views, Which in the words of the hated Iron Lady, is 'the problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.'

I worked for a number of years as a Union Representative in the Brewing Industry, helped lead a protest march of around two hundred Licensees during the Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool in the early nineties, saw at first hand how the all mighty brewers treated tenants and appeared on TV in Yorkshire condemning their tactics.

Therefore, before throwing around such incorrect thoughts, get your facts together.

Other politicians have in recent years had similar allegations proved and I think has slaps on the wrist from the Old Bill

Germany 20 in the same time France 24 since 1958.
Italy has always been a basket even the Scottish now have a form of PR.
In the 2015 GE, there was a box to vote to switch to PR or not. It was rejected by approximately 2-1,so obviously not a consensus to adopt.

This saying about running out of other people's money is a nonsense. All countries use their citizens' money in order to provide public services. Tories, liberals and socialists all do it and Thatcher knew that. She was just playing politics with the idea that Labour Governments are not careful about the way they use public funds. That is also nonsense.
The Green Party in Britain is a socialist party and yet you are prepared to vote for them but not for Labour. On the face of it that seems odd.

You cant be serious !
Absolutely. Labour is just a protest group. They have no plan and no clue. Look at Wales for an example of what they would try to do. Blanket 20mph speed limits and we’d still be in Covid lockdown if it was up to them. Cordoning off aisles in shops just pathetic. They will cut services and increase taxes and open the boarders to all. Labour would spell devastation and disaster for the country.

Quite simple 1966. I'm thinking of the future for my kids but mainly for my Grand kids, so it's a no brainer.

Like all the parties they have some strange ideas and ideologies, but overall I feel they are spot on with a lot of their warnings etc, and as the old saying goes from little acorns, great oak trees grow.

If I lived in a constituency where I thought the Greens could win I might well be tempted to vote for them, perhaps join them.

Devastation and disaster is what the country is already getting from a Conservative government. Your view that Labour would, "cut services and increase taxes and open boarders [sic] to all," is simply wrong. By all means vote for who you think has the right policies to improve the country but don't invent criticisms to beat Labour with.

Are they still anti-nuclear power?

This is what scares me about Labour, Rayner is not the brightest.

(for the avoidance of doubt, plenty of other Labour and Tory MPs scare me as well)

"Angela Reynar is not the brightest!" - in comparison to Liz "brainbox" Truss, or Dominic "Imports and Dover" Raab, or David "its all in my head" Davis, or Kwazi "trickle down" Kwarteng, or thick as pigsh17" Mogg, or James "not very" Cleverley. I honestly think you could line up all the current MP's and i would hazard the guess that barely 10% of them would meet the criteria of even average intelligence despite a majority of them having been very expensively educated.

i think Reyner like Starmer has abandoned any principles she may have held in order to get power, which in my book puts her along with starmer and numerous other politicians in the same boat with those on the opposite benches.

We've had 14 years of unprincipled politicians.

She needs to watch her back, George Galloway is gunning for her seat
That’ll please the people of Rochdale who just gave him a mandate. 😂

Well as the current Govt have seen us have the highest tax burden in my lifetime and have totally lost control on immigration and knife crime etc - I’m not sure any party even the Loonies can perform worse?

They really need to take a seat on the sidelines and understand where it all went wrong. Will Labour be better - maybe? However they surely can’t be worse than this last 5 years (and in fairness it wasn’t much better in the Austerity govt either).

Although at the General Election, the turnout was 62%, and George got in with a 39% turnout, as Labour voters stayed at home, with no candidate to vote for.

Rochdale will be Labour's after the General Election.

Unsurprisingly I’ve studied their policy statement on food ....admirable in its aims and ideals but sadly empty on workable solutions. Also keeping a close eye on the Welsh Governments handling of the same subject.. it truly beggars belief... I can only hope the next UK government do due diligence on food procurement...in all seriousness 66 I’m really worried our politicians are going to make an almighty fcuk up.

Interesting. I can only think that many of the difficulties stem from Brexit. That said, what we eat will say a lot about what we think about the environment. Everything touches this: economics, social reform, business, farming.

In the push for green energy, there's a danger of giving up valuable farmland in favour of solar panels and turbines, when we already have a shortage of home produced foodstuffs. These things need putting in places where there isn't pressure to produce food.

Agree but at some point the nation has to understand that cheap food isn't a given. It may sound poncy middle class foodie nonsense but I value a good chicken - free range. It can be dear but I want to use the whole thing, including the carcass. May be that's where our parents' food knowledge was a bonus: Sunday roast beef, Monday cottage pie, Wednesday soup.

Re Brexit... you’re right but perhaps not in the way you may be thinking 🤷🏻‍♂️... politicians had a massive opportunity re food... post Brexit... a dramatic fall in home production in favour of public popularity may well be the outcome.

I looked at turning over some land to a solar farm, and you can still graze sheep on the fields. You can also still farm fields with wind turbines in.

Post Brexit, I find the RPA payments schemes very convoluted, and the government lacks any direction regarding farming matters and food security...

I’m attending a meeting today, with a professional advisor, to finalise our SFI options, having had a number of meetings over the past few months. There is no clarity as to the long term objectives for food security or sustainability…this , in my opinion, is where Brexit gave us an opportunity to set clear and viable policy for food production….animal welfare…wildlife conservation and environmental protection…a chance to reverse damage done…I really can’t see any political party with a policy that isn’t based on short term popularity….but then it was ever thus🤷🏻‍♂️

Yep, I am probably a hobbyist compared to you, Newholland.

I turn over 40 acres to baling, and have a four acre wood which I would really like to do more conservation work on. Had a grant a year or two ago and dug some newt habitat ponds. With the RPA phasing out, I should really take some advice on what`s available, as it is as clear as mud to me...
