Blackburn v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 21.02.23

Poor from us tonight, but the officials took the piss. No wonder they get abused from top to bottom. They’re inept at any level.
I agree the officials in general and referees in particular are downright incompetent. However that doesn’t disguise the fact we are bloody awful, we are going down purely because we don’t deserve to stay up.

Can't question the effort, but seriously lacking in quality.

That poor summer transfer window has destroyed our season. Everyone could see we needed a MATCH FIT championship standard CDM, but our CEO failed to deliver. Hence the signings who aren't fit hence the injuries.

Can anyone tell me what Mansford actually does ffs??

I've never called for someone to go, but surely Mansford has to take some responsibility as CEO?

Think we’ll be relegated sooner than many on here think we will.

The season doesn’t lie we’ve been the poorest team in this league by some distance.

A mixture of league one players and shite managers.

We wouldn’t have scored tonight if we had played for another 24 hours and even
I’m not sure.

It’s been a shocking season and questions need to be asked of the board.
The writing has been on the wall for months, yet some posters still think we won't get relegated.

I admire positivity, but these posters need to get real and smell the coffee.

The season has been dire and the fingers have to be pointed at Sadler and Mansford.

If Husband had been on the pitch in place of Thompson, and Patino was playing academy football in London, I think we would have got a point there. Blackburn offered very little offensively.

We have been dire.

You haven't got enough fingers to do all the pointing needed. Why start with them??

We were relegated as soon as they failed to sack Appleton after the Wigan match.

Or maybe we were relegated as soon as Appleton was appointed manager

Massive questions need asking of the board. They are the primary reason that we are in this mess!

Disappointing, but we were playing a team fighting for promotion.

It's a shame, there's a lot wrong, but playing hoofball against teams fighting relegation well cost us more than losing to Blackburn.

It's a shame we played them so soon after a win, it's just bust that optimism bubble.

You slag Mansford and say we need CDM? Firstly we need proven goalscorers or have you not looked in the goals for column?

We just have too many players who aren't up to it at this level. We have some who moan at MM's style of football but we literally can't string more than three passes together. Frustrating.
Their first thought is backwards often, for safety, because of their lack of quality and confidence, plus the style they are being told to play.

We see it from throw ins in promising positions, we go backwards or give it away often then under pressure ourselves.

We saw it twice near the end from open play, midfielder picks up the ball, in another championship side they turn and are going towards goal, us... we pass it back to Thompson who thinks for a bit whilst he's closed down and the ball is blasted against the onrushing player and could go anywhere.

Too slow in the thought, too slow and poor in the execution.

Yes sadly, you say it right.

We were playing a team fighting for promotion, who didn’t look like a team fighting for promotion. Blackburn were poor tonight, if we had been half decent we would have got something. As it is we got what we deserved.

why does he keep picking sonny Carey?

As far Patino, totally anonymous again.Get Fiorini in his place

Nothing in the final 3rd - a few sparks here and there - thought Nelson had a good game. But for us to survive we need to be praising the striking force not the defence.

Bowler HAS to start next game - or I will be breaking something 😡

Ok - next!

i desperately don’t want that to happen but I fear you might be right. It’s time for a rethink/reset and change of some back room staff no matter what.

We are all dissapointed, the issues we have in midfield are blatant. Lack of real quality, due to injuries etc A player who can hold the ball under pressure and link up play and a mobile striker we dont have. If we go down the Coventry boys must identify some players who are going to effect this situation in Division 1. Other than that are there any youngsters who are going to step forward. Its all down to money at the end of the day.

Yes he does. But it's not just him. Appleton was out of his depth, the Injuries really did for us. Confidence is completely lacking. There is no striker on the pitch. Lavery and Thompson are not Championship players. Tonight we brought Bowler on a hardly fed him. It's looking poor.

I don’t think we could have had a better opportunity to get at least a point at Ewood Park tonight. Blackburn had 3 of their best players unavailable tonight — Brereton-Diaz, Bradley Dack and Scott Wharton. Also Ayala their key central defender had to go off at half time. I looked at the Rovers line up and I had hardly heard of any of them. Despite this we still didn’t manage a shot on target. That is 3 away games now for McCarthy, 3 defeats, just 1 goal scored and 6 goals conceded. I felt we needed to get something from the away games at Swansea and Blackburn Rovers.

And yet they still looked a class above. If one game highlighted our shitness, this was it.

To be fair it was a local derby and he had to balance the positives for Blackburn.
Prefer a commentator to call it as he sees it. They usually do if improvement required.

I just think he thought we did OK, we didn't.

It wasn't a classic game but our complete lack of basic control, to not be able to string more than a few passes together was shocking.

You're talking to the converted mate. It was just radio Lancs being 'fair.'

Survival was always all about winning home games, or at least trying to. I didn't think we'd pick more than 4/5 points away from home when MM took over. But Tonight was a point missed out on- even given our glaring deficiencies.

The bum biter will prove to be HT and RU home.

I'm not going to slag players off because we all know the obvious. However, if you have to go with KD and CP alongside you need a bit more from the player ahead. Carey, who could be a real player L1, isn't that player.

On to Reading, a game I had in my sights as a point picker upper, maybe 3 and a different team goes.

Who gives a shit. You play Poveda on the other wing if you want to get anal.

The point being Rogers is learning his trade at our expense exactly like Patino.
Leaving aside my anal preferences (one way street out) what else do we get talented oanees for?
