Blackpool improvements - Tons happening

Looks great that. In fact was watching the Rate My Takeaway guy last night on YouTube and he was in a very similar place in Manchester. If they provide really good quality American diner style food then places like this could be a real winner.
Yeah it's a nice little welcome addition.

Again, at that odeon site they could jave something 4 times the size of that with far more on offer, but thr council haven't confirmed of they are allowing the site owner to put a storage place there, which would be a real waste.

Tbf 'Seaside' and his channel does some good updates and he's a southerner.
Not seen him. Seen the Walk on the Wildside bloke. In fact I drove past him on Anchorsholme seafront the other week and shouted "WALK ON THE WILDSIDE GUY!" and he waved lol

I might have already mentioned this on the thread somewhere, but Munch box on Whitegate drive is great. Not cheap and takes a while to make but what I had a while ago was great. Need to try one of these boxes.

Also, because the BFC kids Christmas party came up as being at the arcade club next to BFC, I had a look there and they seem to do some good value food. Although you do have to pay to get in.

It’s always easy to be negative but the improvements around the town centre are obvious. Why would more plans be submitted for the old post office when the existing plans have been agreed? As for empty shops there’s not a town centre in the country not suffering from the decline in retail. The new office development in Talbot Gateway will increase footfall which should help with that.
Maybe next time you should venture out your car and have a better look at what is available in the town centre.
Just as easy to be positive and sweep a few under the carpet hoping no one sees shit that is perceived as good.

I don’t think anyone is saying that shit is good? Of course Blackpool has its issues but so does every other town and city in the UK. I would struggle to think of anywhere else that is seeing the investment that Blackpool is though. Which of the recently opened facilities have you visited?

Anything happening to the Prudential building next to bus station, empty shops down Talbot rd. Was in town, didnt venture out of my car, Clifton St had plenty of door sleepers and it was mid day or later. Anymore plans been submitted regarding old post office. What about re seeding the grassed areas on the prom, has the council run out of money. Could reach 200 million in debt next year.
Haven't seen anything new about the old post office hotel, the plans are there for it.

Also haven't seen anything seen anything in those prudential premises for a long time.

Not a great site is it, setting off on the tram from the new hotel, first encountering an empty building, empty shops, smashed windows not being fixed. Good to see improvements but still so much letting Blackpool down.

Where have you been? I can think of dozens of places getting more investment than Blackpool, some of which is in the North. You don't get the forests of cranes for starters that you see in other places

Marvin's Highfield Road to reopen.

A small update on the progression of the road that will unlock more of the airport enterprise zone for development.

An update on one of the bigger more exciting projects. Looking forward to this one.

The initial render had a bigger building, this is split into different ones, far better greenery etc it seems though and still that similar building design.

Let’s all moan
Yep, look at all the investment flooding in.

Ridiculous, it's too much now, too much change too fast 😡

But seriously you do see comments on FB when loads of good things are announced, like "but what about the falling down building on x Street." Some can't enjoy the improvements. .

Of course there always more to do, but this thread shows... like the tittle, there's tons happening and much more planned.

You have to say the Prom is vastly improved, and the area round the station is getting there, but taking an extremely long time for what appears to be a relatively small area.

Hopefully that will seed further investment a bit further out.

It'll never happen at the speed people want and they'll always then be something else, but most towns or cities have places run down, it's just they don't have millions of people going through it or you've no reason to go there.

The central drive redevelopment from BFC to the new Blackpool central project will be transformative. That's only just getting started and the BFC end is first it seems.

People moan about this Labour Council as much as any moaning about the Conservatives it seems.

The old St Johns Market didn't touch King St.
It came out oin Edward St. Next to the Post Office rear entrance.
You're wrong there Dave, it's was where yet another car park appeared in front of what was the hop Inn running between Cookson Street & back Topping Street.

For people moaning about Blackpool have a watch of this.... went to a gig in hanley just after lockdown... I honestly thought we were in the wrong place but were then told this is the place to go out in stoke... proper grim.

I'm well impressed with Blackpool... Still lots to do but looking good

I had a look around the new stores in Hounds Hill yesterday. They bring a bit of much needed class to the town. Good new Sports Direct with Evans cycles. Smart Frazers outlet and nice new Flannels. I'm sure there are plenty in Blackpool ready to spend £300 on a T shirt and £900 on a pair of trainers.

Drove down the promenade about 10.15pm last night.
Must admit, the temporary rides and attractions on the promenade (opposite the tower), looked really good.
A shame they aren't there in the summer..

In summer the pleasure Beach is in full swing and the Piers too. They might not want to take some trade away with some rides.

But even if that's the case, could have the stalls etc and come up with another theme.

Although there are tons of things happening in summer anyway. They do have some events on there.

Also, not really an improvement but news...

Is that what they are. We drove down Yeadon Way on the way to the game on Tuesday and saw the lights.

New hotel

Another major development, the company involved owns the Lyndene next door as well. So maybe they'd do the same there too.
Fortunately I posted that a few posts ago...😀

But we've wheen that before.

A welcome addition, whether they'll keep the trees...I hope they do. They'll have to be the right type though and get them properly established.

If not they can go with the palm tree lookalikes, cordylines.

Never been here but it is on my list, but so are a hell of a lot of good places.
I've ate there plenty of times, always good and down the road at La Fontana, a bit cheaper and never had a bad meal there. Usually go to la fontana for bigger bookings of over 10 people, they seem to cope with any number unlike some.

La fontana was good, went there a couple of times during covid eat out to help out...lol.

Nice food, portions were slightly on the smaller side for what I had though, but again very nice.

I don't get some people who say there's nowhere good to eat in Blackpool, there's loads of good places that me and others have listed on other threads many times. For a town of Blackpool's size, it does pretty damn well.

In general the surrounding areas are ok if you want somewhere to go.
Blackpool lacks quality restaurants and always has, over the years I remember Bosley Grill, Il Corsaro, Town & Country, Mandarin, White Tower, Kwizeen, the casino restaurants in their heydays, seafood rest on bond st, french place under the savoy and Saporis. Maybe a few more I've missed but not many quality ones spanning my time here.

I think there's quite a lot. Each time someone asked for somewhere decent to go there's a list of about 50+ places that people recommend.

As I've said before on here - we all know the problems but turning round a poor town takes time. Let's focus on the positives.
