Blackpool v Barnsley Official Matchday Thread 25.09.21

tell me of any meaningful passes he made? Think he's very poor in the ball and it's not just today either. It's the simplest of passes he gets consistently wrong. But that first half he ran his full back ragged.
The sublime back heel pass for the goal?

It's already been pointed out to me and I congratulated him on it. I've not seen it back yet but at the time I thought they were in possession of the ball and then suddenly Lavery was in and put in a great finish. Clearly Keshi played a big part in that.

Also a cross to Lavery that should have been put away. To me Keshi is finally showing his potential after a bad injury.
Maybe Kaikai being selected ahead of him actually held back his development in the early part of last season as Kaikai rarely starts at Wycombe.
Biggest compliment is Keshi was a L2 player and now does not look out of place in the Championship.

Right just seen it and it was a great pass so I'll say it again, well done and as i said he had a great first half. But please be aware of what I keep saying. It's the SIMPLE pass he regularly gets wrong and what I say needs to improve. That pass yesterday for the goal was anything but simple.

I agree about Keshi - apart from the great backheel for the goal, the cutback for Lavery's clear early chance and a good through ball for a clear Lavery chance early in the second half he didn't create much. ;)

I think what you actually said was that he is useless 🤷

Whilst I appreciate the need to keep possession, the job of a player in Keshi's position is to create chances and that means playing riskier passes. Whilst the 5 on 3 we had which broke down with him was disappointing, I don't think we can conplain he didn't do his job yesterday, which was to create chances.

By meaningful, do you mean the back heel pass to Lavery for our goal?

What a brilliant performance against Baaarnsley. I felt The Mighty Pool should have been 2 or 3 goals up by halftime. The second half was more even and we had a bit of last ditch defending to endure. Their no.9 looked a real handful all the match and the defence had a job cutting out his runs, especially in the second half. Maxwell made a great save in each half. We had our chances too but with only having a one goal lead, the match was on a knife edge right to the end.
I must make a special mention of the goal. From Block J, it looked like Baaarnsley were coming out of defence but suddenly, Lavery was running in on goal. It was only when I saw the highlights what a sublime backheel pass Anderson did. PHEW!

He was in possession throughout and backheeled it into Laverys path.
