Blackpool v Barnsley Official Matchday Thread 25.09.21

I was Watching on line with Chizzy commentary provided. First thought he needs a minder , pants listen on his own, second thought, if I was listening on the radio I’d be absolutely clueless on what was happening

Great win today, lots of fantastic performances from the lads. Have to give a big shout out to Anderson, he's been our best player so far this season. So much goes through him, looks like he's made for the Championship.

Listening to Tangerine TV commentry it sounded as though when Treece John-Jules got the ball
our attacks always broke down
i think its a bit unfair, but hes not a target man. hes better when he plays deeper and can build play. he gets into some fantastic positions just not got that final ball yet.

got to say Barnsley worked really hard, every time Keshi was on the ball there were three on him the same with Bowler, and there were always two on either TJJ or Lavery, there should have been tons of space for us to play into but there just wasnt simply because the barnsly players worked hard at closing us down. i honestlythink it was one of those games that Jerry would have had field day, particularly with their defence messing around close to their penalty area.

Great win today just didn’t think we could hang on to a 1-0 scoreline really needed that second goal I thought.

Only negative from me is Maxwell’s ball distribution is crap, great keeper though another couple of excellent saves this afternoon. 👍

What's with the flares in the north? I thought we'd stopped shit like that?

And I assume people were throwing stuff towards the east - two separate announcements.

Didn't get a run out even at 2 - 0 up at home to Norwich, so possibly still available come January.
Plenty of young players have sat on Premier League benches but never made the grade. Mark Cullen even scored a goal in the top flight before finding his level lower down. Still every chance Simms will be loaned out in January.

I don't think Barnsley fans rated Kenny Dougall when he was at their club

"It’s the first game I’ve seen where he isn’t one of the worst players on the pitch."

Thought that was a terrific performance today in BOTH halves. That said, TJJ was shocking and Keshi ran his socks off and had an excellent first half but boy he's useless on the ball. Second half counter attack and five on two and he plays a 40-60 ball.5hocking.

I'm not sure about that, seems very positive to me: http://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/kenny-dougall.296461/

Sounds like he had a couple of bad injuries and needed time and a run of games to get back to full fitness, something the manager wasn't prepared to give him.

Agree about the performance and Keshi's poor second-half, breakaway pass. Can't agree that he's useles on the ball, though. He seems noticeably stronger and difficult to shake off the ball, often beat his man, and had another very good game, I thought.

This is the thing out transfer policy aims for- some of them will continue to push on and improve as they move up until leagues. I thought Keshi looked great.

tell me of any meaningful passes he made? Think he's very poor in the ball and it's not just today either. It's the simplest of passes he gets consistently wrong. But that first half he ran his full back ragged.

Competitive with who? I'd be surprised if more than 5 teams have a smaller budget.

Bournemouth spent more than £20 million on a couple of players.
Compared with the bottom half Hull P’Boro Millwall Derby Nobbers Barnsley Luton Bristol City Huddersfield etc etc

But he also created a goal and another goalscoring opportunity earlier in the half... not sure that classifies as useless.

Thoroughly enjoyed that game today and probably the best team performance I’ve seen so far this season, things are starting to click on the pitch. How we weren’t at least 3 goals up I’ll never know, Barnsley just didn’t turn up. Credit to them for bringing a big following though and hopefully they’ll allocate a similar number of tickets to our fans when we have the reverse fixture. North was bouncing as ever too.

Both me and my lad was saying the same thing.
