Blackpool v Bristol Rovers Official Matchday Thread 09.05.21

I'm happy with that line-up too. I've been saying give the youngsters a chance for months now and so I'm backing them and Critch to do the job.

3-1 UTMP 🍊 🍊 🍊

Critchley could have gone either way on this; I actually thought he’d name a stronger side than that and personally I’m surprised max and Yates not on the bench, but I think this is a pretty bold move and I’ll not be complaining whatever happens today.

It's the right decision, allows opportunities for others and rests players who have been ever present in a hectic schedule of fixtures. I think that is one of the main positives this season, we have so much strength in depth. Delighted for Holmes and the academy, a big day for them both. Also relieved to see Madine back on the bench, hopefully he gets 30 mins or so.

Definitely the right decision. Finishing third, although it's important, it's not as important as protecting our best players from injury. He's taken out Maxwell, Ballard, Yates, Simms and Garbutt. Really can't afford any injuries from them. The only surprise for me is he's kept Dougall in but I think that's the flip side which shows that we do want to win the game and finish third. I reckon IF we have a decent lead at any point, we'll be seeing Dougall replaced by Antwi.

Really interested to see what Holmes is like.

Interesting, far more changed than I anticipated but great to see Holmes starting, how exciting is that for the lad, I hope he has a blinder.

Best news is having Gay Goal Machine back, I hope he gets 30 minutes in the second half.

This line up demonstrates what a strong squad we actually have. Apart from Moore and Holmes, the rest could be starters in any game . Like others have said I would like to see Antwi and Shaw get some minutes if things are going well.

Bet you would not call him gay to his face

Looking at the fixtures today, the top two apart, everyone from 3rd down to 12th are at home, what are the odds of that happening on the last set of games?

One thing that has impressed me with this squad is that whoever gets asked to play in whatever position seems to slip seamlessly in without any problem. Good coaching.

I expect early second half changes. Anderson doesn't need 90 mins at this stage of his recovery. I also think Simms will be on for Holmes. However, let's see, it could play out very different.

So we are all pretty happy with that line up?
Glad he rested the spine. I’d have rested Dougall as well but nice one Coach.

Assume 4-2-3-1 but could be wingbacks as well?

Looking forward to this - would like to see Antwi get some game time. Also looking forward to seeing Stewart in action he’s a good player.
