Blackpool v Cheltenham Official Matchnight Thread 25.10.23

Never 2nd guess a Critch team! Interestingly Thompson gets in ahead of Lyons when he likes his inverted wingbacks, Lyons is a natural at that. Hope Lavery scores tonight he started the season on fire and can still have a huge part to play.

Im not sure what the panic is about but seems to have decided to rest Dale and play Thompson as left w back. My main concern would be whether Morgan can hack it. Could do with Dougall and Norburn behind Dembele. But seems positive on paper, time will tell.

Husband will be a big miss tonight, both he and Norburn don't make the bench, so you would presume neither is fit to start.

It'll be interesting to see how they line up

Saw hubby arrive around 6.15pm. Don’t know if that was a factor or not. M6 was at a standstill earlier.

Norburn is injured so that’s not possible

Looks like the same team more or less that finished on Saturday except for Dale and Husband. Will be three CB’s with presumably Connolly at LCB.
Hope he is not planning to play Thompson at RWB.

Give me strength!

Think he was just saying "on" as in "on that day" (taking them on Saturday), rather than the Nobber "going on Deepdale".

Don't think he's a Nobber, just a pessimistic Blackpool fan!
Yay! Another person who sees no harm in going on the ground. After all, the players go 'on' the pitch. They don't go TO the pitch and just stand around the perimeter for 90 minutes.

The BBC have it as a 4-4-2
Grimshaw
Connolly Pennington Casey Thompson
CJ Morgan Dougall Dembele
Rhodes Lavery

But, what do they know?

5 changes from the starting XI though. Connolly Thompson Morgan Dembele Lavery.

The latter three did well and get a start so must have impressed Critch too.

It's a very common Nobber saying. I was amazed you didn't know that but hey, if we all knew everything....

Looking forward to this after seeing the team. Husband and Norburn would surely be in if fit so I’m happy with that team

Big personalities missing. Time for the others to step us and take on the challenge. If they don't, we should put them on the transfer list before breakfast is served tomorrow.

Cheltenham will set up for a point and hope for a smash-and-grab goal, so there's logic in resting a few and giving them more time to recover.
It's a squad game.
Give them a chance before we hit the 'moan like fuck' button.

My prediction is a comfortable home win
There is plenty of goals in that lineup and a lot of pace.
Cant wait to see more of Dembele
COYP, put these no hopers to the sword!

My only concern is Hubby missing, he has been our best player all season and he will be a big miss as a lot of the attacks come from him. I hope he is being rested rather than being injured. Apart from that can't complain at all, I would prefer to have Kouassi over Lavery but Lav's looked sharp when he came on on Saturday and he knows where the goal is. I think we will be playing against a packed defence so we will need to be patient, an early goal for us would be great if we can manage it.

Husband and Norburn are a big miss. Let's hope Norburn is back soon and Husband is just being rested.

I mostly get the rotation; we're coming into a really congested group of fixtures and Dembele deserves a start. Plus, I thought Lavery caused more problems than Kouassi on Sat, who is still young and learning. It always looks bad if we don't win, so here's hoping!
