Appleton is still learning about the players he has at his disposal. Let's face it we were chasing shadows for the first 20 mins as Everton passed the ball around us with ease. Our left flank was flimsy to say the least, not a lot of blame should be aimed at Williams because he has been thrown straight in but Garbutt and Andersen were all at sea defensively, in fact Keshi plays like he has no defensive responsibility.
We stuck at it and as Everton took a breather we suddenly started getting the ball to Bowlers feet. He his our main attacking threat unfortunately the better he plays the more likely we are to lose him. In the absence of Stewart, Dougall and Virtue imo are our best midfield combination with Fiorini or Carey playing further forward. People moan about negative sideways and backwards passing but this is where Critchley influence was most apparent. We struggled to retain possession particularly in that first 20 mins.
Regardless of how long Husband is likely to be out we are crying out for a defensivley strong left back it is a glaring weakness in our team.
