Blackpool v Hull City Official Matchinght Thread 19.10.22

Win, lose or draw, I think the best outcome in a way, is to come out of this with no new injuries, no suspensions and of course some confidence ahead of Saturday.

I’m hoping the team is something like this if laverys red card stands
Maxwell
Connolly Thornley husband/ Williams Garbutt
Dougall Bridcutt patino
Corbeanu Madine yates
Bench ( struggling to fill it )
Grimshaw Jack Moore cj Carey Poveda wright husband/Williams
If husband is out hmmmm we really are down to the bare bones Wednesday night.

Wow

Only just watched Saturdays game without knowing anything about it, was gonna comment on the sometimes funny but mainly frustrating Chizzy and Brett combo “I tell you what, I bet the suns in his eyes” first half but quickly forgot about those annoyances as the second half unfolded. What a game and what a performance from the lads, obvs super pissed off not to come away from that with all three and frustrated about the sending offs and subsequent suspensions but am becoming quietly confident we’ll be alright this season.

Roll on Wednesday when I can watch it live…

UTMP 💪⚽

The more I see back their penalty, and their third goal, the more annoyed I get.

Dive for the first, then a clear foul by McBurnie on Maxwell. His intent is obvious. No attempt to go to the ball and looking at Maxwell. It's then followed by at least 3 players offside in Maxwell's eye line as he tries to get back across. Without being pushed into the net, he reaches that shot.

The way I see it is that the top of the league team had to resort to fouling and diving in order to scrape a draw against us despite being at home with a two-man advantage. We should take a lot of encouragement from that.

There seems to be a celebratory feel to AVFTT this week. Lots of congratulating Appleton too.

Let's not take our eye off the ball. We are 19th in the division and we desperately need a couple of wins soon.

Despite our selection quandaries we really really could do with winning this game Wednesday. A team below us that could give us some separation from the drop zone.

The old man can’t make it so I’ve got my girlfriend with me for her first ever football match… she thinks football is ridiculous and hates the cold, so trying to convince her a Wednesday night against Hull was a good idea was a pretty tough sell !
Have upgraded to the Heineken lounge to give her some warmth to escape too. If anyone see’s a couple breaking up at the rear of the South tomorrow night that’ll be us !

I once made the mistake of taking my wife to Bloomfield. She started to support the other team as she said they were better looking. Then in the second half she started reading a book. Never again...

Fair comment but you should also bare in mind they had another penalty not given, for a neutral that game on Saturday would be as good a watch as you could wish for, as Blackpool fan it was hard to take but so many positives can be taken.

The penalty that wasn't given. This was when Bridcutt was lying poleaxed in the area. The game shouldn't have got to that point if we're following the rules of the game.

Following the events at Sheffield on Saturday, all the injustices, plus Laverys appeal being dismissed, on Wednesday night we all really need to come together, players and supporters and turn all that frustration, disappointment and anger into a palpable positive atmosphere and energy that will enable us to have a right go at Hull City. Take control of the game from the off, don’t give them a minute and bombard their goal from start to finish. Let’s get Bloomers rocking tomorrow and get a big 3 points on the board.

We need to put the injustice of last Saturday behind us and play with confidence. Ignore where Hull are in the league they have some dangerous players and we need to tighten up the defence. If selected Williams has to step up to the plate and show why we signed him. Win and we can go into the derby game with confidence, lose and we are under pressure.

It's still miserable on the politics forum ( still going on about Brexit) so best stay away from those moaning Minnies.😜

It's such a tight league. Win tonight and beat the Knobbers on Saturday and we will be near the play off places.

We are in a false position but need to start turning good performances in to wins.

What a mistake a to make a! I somehow got my wires crossed some weeks ago and thought the Hull game was last night. Consequently, I have arranged to meet a very old friend (in his eighties) and colleague for a few pints and some reminiscing tonight.

Come on you Pool, I'll be watching the score via BBC Sport. 😰

A win and a draw in the next 2 would be good - however, 6 points would be fantastic and could get us on a run. 2 draws not amazing, and two losses not worth thinking about.
Still gutted about Lavery - the shift and assist he put in at Sheffield was brilliant and he'll be a big miss.

Let’s just hope no more injuries ! We only have 2 strikers fit … and a midfielder playing right back !

Here's expecting a massive 3 points for the mighty 'pool.. I'm calling it a potential 'relegation six pointer' especially if by Saturday teatime we have picked up zero points this week.....

Very difficult to call this one, we are down to the bare bones as far as the squad is concerned, it will be incredible if we get any sort of positive result tonight. I hope Appleton doesn't change our tactics too much to try and make up for our shortages, we need to attack if only to keep the ball away from, what is, a bit of a makeshift defence.
Very important game to win with Hull being below us in the league but even a draw tonight wouldn't be a bad result, followed by a storming win on Saturday of course!

When was the last time we won a midweek home league game with a crowd?

I’m sure it was Bolton at home when KDH hit last minute winner? Sick of driving back to Manchester miserable.

Even when we played Oxford in the playoffs midweek it was a draw.

I would be surprised if Bridcutt is playing. He is quite injury prone so may be rested and play against Preston. Wright in to replace him would be my guess.

I think we shouldn't expect anything... often when I expect the win we go and lose... eg Rotheram 🙃

I expect a battle and any points gained to be tough especially with our depleted squad!

Here's my shot at tonight's line-up:

Maxwell

Connolly Williams Thorniley Garbutt

Patino Dougall Carey

Poveda Yates Corbeanu

Bench: anyone who's fit! Madine and CJ to come on as impact subs. I would have liked Bridcutt to start, but I reckon he'll be rested for the Nobbers - he might come on for final 15 minutes to shore up our 2-0 lead. 🍊

would keep the midfield as saturday, bring in carey or wright for shayne, probably, at them from the first whistle. maybe mix it up second half if we want to protect players for saturday, HUbby i think needs a good 25mins as well if hes fit

Forget about Saturday. It will be here soon enough, and there are as many points at stake tonight as there are then. One at a time I would suggest. I’ll take a skinny 1-0 tonight, and I”ll be grateful if it comes to pass.

We have had a distressing habit for the last few seasons of matching the top and losing to the bottom. We really could do with carrying on at the intensity of Saturday, blitz them and get some goals, then they may fold. Let them stay on par and we'll probably get sucker punched
