Blackpool v Middlesborough Official Matchnight Thread 29.12.21

Probably naive “game management” but I won’t hammer anyone who still thinks they can create a chance right up until the final whistle.

Mitchell you dîck!

Rest of the blame goes to Critchley again for his cráp starting 11, weird overly defensive formation and perplexing subs. Just pissed this match away. And he better not try and blame Covid etc with Bowler sat on the bench. No midfield of note. Absolute stinker. No luck either. 😡

I thought we played very well tbh. Ref I thought made some absolutely shocking decisions yet again. Same every week with referees unfortunately. Critch can only use what he has available at the minute but I would have started bowler and wouldn’t have subbed keogh
Onwards to Saturday

Yeah good game. We worked hard, deserved the point but a mistake cost us. The way we are playing we will get enough points to stay in this league and at the start of the season I wasn't sure that was going to happen. We have a good, hard working squad they deserve credit for their endeavour. I'm disappointed but not disheartened. 👍

1 win 3 draws 6 defeats in our last 10 is relegation form by anyones standards, especially when the majority of us consider us to have been playing well.Something just seems wrong at the moment.
NC refuses to name a settled team.
Until he can pick his best team + formation and stick with it, we will continue to struggle.
We only needed two changes tonight and the same formation that worked so well vs Huddersfield until the red card.
He also seems to think we can defend in numbers. Well we can’t. We are better on the front foot, pressing the opposition in their half and attacking in numbers with creative players on each wing.

Blame blame blame.

Bowler & Lavery superb when they eventually got on. Madine and Yates worked hard all night. Anderson had an off night, Dougall was shocking in first half but clearly got a bollocking at half time and was a different player in the 2nd half.
Keogh and Big Marv superb. Greaterson struggled.
All that said….Very unlucky to loose. Watmore a handful. Referee poor and weak. 4 minutes added time….you serious.

Blackpool were excellent tonight and thoroughly deserved something out of the game.
The harsh reality in this division is we haven't anyone clinical enough to convert the chances we create.
Also, when in a position to shoot we tend to look for one more pass and a chance goes.
There hasn't been a single team in this division that I thought were head and shoulders better than us and that's what is boiling my piss at the moment.
We're a decent side but we are seriously looking at the wrong end of the table now.
We are desperate to bolster a paper thin midfield and also need a goal scorer or target man as Gaz goals was blowing out of his arse from 60 minutes.
We cant keep saying it was a good performance if there's no end product and before you know it we'll be looking for dates when we play Wimbledon and Shrewsbury next season rather than Newcastle and Norwich

I’m getting sick of seeing us play well but have nothing to show for it. We need a run of wins or any results that aren’r losses or we’ll be looking down and worrying about relegation for the rest of the season.

If that was an off night by Keshi, when he hits form he will be an international

Well he was to blame. It was shocking from him. And I'm being much politer on here than I was at the game.
Correct. NC picked the team and the formation and the weird late subs.

The Tea lady could have done a better job.

It was like he picked the names out of a hat, threw them in the air and that’s what we got.

Couldn’t have played into Boro’s hands more.

And as for Mitchell…
Here’s your 3pts. Have a nice trip home.

This is what is doing for us and has done all season

I really wanted the game off tonight due to our lack of players but I was so wrong, I couldn't be prouder of our lads, they worked their balls off every one of them. Chris Wilder owes the gentleman in the purple shirt a few drinks, I lost count of the number of times he walked round the pitch with his arm round a Boro player. Shocking refereeing performance tonight and the bar is pretty low.

I was talking about Mitchell.

Did well tonight with the players available, but I’m becoming increasingly frustrated at us waiting to make subs till 70 minutes.

Bowler gives us such an outlet.

I’m not going to blame the ref for this one. He let a lot go for both sides. Some body checks he missed.
We were the architects of our own misfortune.

Social media team at the club very late posting a report. They usually have the finger on the pulse shortly after the final whistle.

Just a thought that maybe Critch has told them to hold fire until things calm down as Gabriel took an absolute slating after Huddersfield and maybe he doesnt want the same 'love-in' afforded to Mitchell. He must be devastated.

Your blaming Mitchell and I'm saying he shouldn't have had the ball in the first place, I'm not blaming anyone, shit happens but we always seem to need someone to crucify.
well it was a bad mistake by Mitchell so yep I blame him. Of course shit happens but no matter what people are still to blame and on this occasion Mitchell was. Gabriel was last sunday and then i remember Maxwell getting dogs on here just a few weeks ago. It's a football message board, players make mistakes and they have to take the blame for them. Let's face it, if a player keeps making mistakes he won't stay in the team long will he?
