Blackpool v MK Dons Official Matchday Thread 24.10.20

I think we'll turn it round tomorrow ... if we keep 11 men on the pitch, have a few more shots at goal and don't let in lazy goals at the other end!!

I hate playing this lot. The sooner they get relegated, go bust, get removed from the football map the better.

We’re due a change in fortune and maybe tomorrow is the day. No sendings off or defensive howlers. Plenty of goal scoring chances created and taken.
Blackpool 4 MK Dons 1.
Hamilton 2, Ward, Woodburn

I expect Marv and Ballard in the middle. At LB, would have been Husband had he been available, so likely he’ll stick with Mitchell. He could bring in Gabriel and switch him or Turton to LB

Kaikai has to start if available, down the middle, behind Yates, in a 4-5-1. With who is available:

Turton
Marv
Ballard
Mitchell
CJ
Robson
Ward
Kaikai
Woodburn
Yates

I can see it being a 3-2 win for Blackpool St Johns against Wimbledon-sorry,I mean for Blackpool against MK Dons.

Old habits die hard. #communityBASIL

0-0 due to pass the parcel football.

or
2-0
Maxwell
Turton Ekpiteta Ballard Mitchell
Sarkic Williams Robson
Woodburn CJ Kai Kai

The one and only home league win this season saw 1,000 of our fans in attendance, can some of you local lads gain entry into the ground (all masked up of course) to help secure the win, please! 😍 otherwise I am expecting a 2-2 draw.

If Mitchell isn't offered more support defensively be the rest of the team, it'll be a big struggle to get anything imo. I hate being negative, but I've seen enough of him to know that though he's a good player, he is no defender. Left back is a blatantly obvious weakness in every game I've seen this season, and if I've seen it so have opposition managers.

We’ve looked better defensively and more solid in midfield. If the Midfield can control the tempo and Woodburn is allowed to play his game for 60/70 minutes with the added assistance of an attack minded midfielder and not just Madine to play off then I think we can score goals and hurt teams. If we go ahead with 11 men we could end up punishing any team who try and play their way back into a game. Being able to bring Yates and KaiKai on against tiring opposition is a BIG string to our bow. All it’s going to take is a bit of luck and our season will turn around.

Option
Play 3 centre backs - Big Marv, Ballard, The Viking. 2 wing backs - Mitchell and Gabriel (or CJ if he can adapt to that).
Think Turts has been the best crosser of a ball so far this season. 3 at back negates the fact he is not the best defensively. Not seen much of Gabriel to have an opinion if he is ready to replace Turton Want CJ running at CBacks as he will earn penalties so Yates out wide

Woodburn to start, Sullay to come on at 65 minutes to rip them apart

Ballard The Viking and Marv, we don't need any more defence, let Mitchell bomb forward.

If I had one plea to NC, it would be to get whoever he has up front switching sides and roles, we are waaaay too predictable
4 - 0 Pool

High tangerines, a friendly GTFC fan here, don't know if you are aware of recent events with Ian Holloway's best friend taking his own life. On the back of this we have set up a just giving page to raise aware of mental health issues and all proceeds will go to Ollie to give a charity he feels fit to give it. Thanks for your time, here's the link if anyone feels they can help https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/wearewithyou?utm_term=rBGVBEDMD

Thank you from all from the Fishy Forum and best of luck for your season

Turton to Left back!!!!! Oh now look, you've made me spray beer everywhere.

I like some of the optimism on here. But optimism is usually caused by a reason to be optimistic. As good as things are off the pitch, I'm struggling to find much to be optimistic about on it. We are really struggling to create chances. Any shots we have are weak and from the edge of the area. And we are still letting in sloppy goals at the other end. Although not as many as before. The posession and build up is nice. But NC needs to instill some ruthlessness into this team. Ruthlessness at both ends is what will get us out of this league. We are too nice! I really hope he finds the formula though. COYP!

Christ thats concerning, only one in three of Turtons crosses goes anywhere near our players.

I read today about volunteers in a trial that are being deliberately exposed to Covid. Any chance we can persuade any Milton Keynes or Wimbledon based players to volunteer?

So if / when we lose tomorrow will Neil's position become untenable? I'd say no, but there"LL be a hell of a meltdown on here.

Pretty sure of a win tomorrow

This is very much optimism than confidence (particularly in coach Critch) but we are due a win and statistically Madine and Yates should score

Really would prefer to be sat in my seat at Bloomfield Road but international crisis prevails

I am believing Kaikai will come good and corks can be popped and relief shall flood amongst the Fylde with a mid table position

All will be good ⚽

Two teams who like to play football. Not seen the Don's but their stats give very impressive possession figures, and they rack up quite a few shots. They have also beaten Gillingham and gained a point at home to Ipswich. So it should be interesting. If both teams finally take their chances it could be a high scorer. Say 2-2 or 3-2 or both teams could play out their possession in midfield and nullify each other..who knows. One thing I suspect is that it will not be easy..and they have a goal scorer in Jerome who may be 34 now but knows where the goal is. My heart says a 'Pool win but my head says a draw. I can't contemplate a defeat.

Sean Mcginlay’s preview of the MK Dons game is on our site for insight on the opposition and his selected Pool XI:

Let us know what you think...

You can't keep losing, so on that basis a home win is due, or at least the avoidance of a defeat.

The team selection and set up is going to be interesting. What would changes and a win say? What would no changes and a win say?
