Blackpool v Swansea Official Matchday Thread 13.08.22

I know it’s very early in the season but this is an important game we need to win as don’t think we will get much out of the next two. Come on the pool bounce back well
 
Don't want to tempt fate but I will anyway. In terms of past results we have it over the Swans at BR. Even down there too. Interesting stat is they haven't won here since 1979. Twenty one meetings at home since then have wielded 11 wins and 10 draws.

Maybe Appleton can get them going again after a poor week. Looked decent at times in the second half against Barrow but need some end product to all the chances.

A win is important. Swansea tend to score away on their travels so 2-1 Pool. More in hope than certainty but confident that the Swans recent splattering by the Rovers and losing to Oxford in the LC after leading 2-0 at HT will have taken a toll on them which we can maximize.
 
Swansea look abit fragile. However, think if we go out & try to match them on a football level we will get beat. A mix it up & rough em up approach maybe needed.
Dougall has to start in the midfield for me.
 
It'll be a case of maximising time on the ball when we get it
Think they'll be looking to get some momentum after not the best of starts.
Concerning that we might try to outplay as opposed to unsettle them
Any update on injuries?
 
1-0 Pool. Patino will spark some much needed life into us with a drool worthy assist to Jerry.

Fiorini also needs to buck his ideas up if he's going to survive in this league. His closing down against Stoke was woeful. At the moment he is the perfect stereotype of gifted academy footballers who has had it too easy in their youth thus lack the grit that is required in the Champ. I believe there is a player in there somewhere, but he needs to perform to tomorrow to get the home fans back onside. Oh and that penalty was shite.

The swans will try to bore us to death and I can't see the match being one we all talk about come the end of the season, but these lot aren't all that.

Normally it would hurt if we lost, but it wouldn’t be serious. Problem is we have a new manager who isn’t everyone’s favourite, so a loss would start the ”I told you so” brigade
 
0-0 in this heat and Swansea keeping the ball for 90 minutes and bossing the midfield wouldn't be the worst outcome I think. Get it done, live to fight another day. If they strike first it might not end well with people getting pissed off and tetchy with being hot and it not going how they had it mapped out beforehand.
 
The Swans manager is addicted to dominating the possession stats, I would hate to watch that every week, fast attacking or counter attacking footy is what we all want to see if possible, 3-1 the Pool.
 
the weather will be a factor, I’d guess all five subs will be used and water breaks will be needed. Lots of passing the ball around to slow the game down so that players can manage the heat.

I want to go in sandals because it’s so hot, but it’s probably safer in trainers. Not looking forward to very hot feet though.

Id like to see Bez start in place of Jezza, bring Jezza on for the last 30 mins to run at hot knackered defenders
