Half a dozen Frenchmen and women don’t turn up for work and Dover declares a critical incident. We got our borders back, zip de doo
That response has already been dismissed by the CEO of Eurotunnel who I think we can assume isn't a hard-line Brexiteer.Yet more Leave bollox. Here is the truth from the French. Believe it or not - it's your choice. No doubt you will believe what suits your agenda.
"The increase in traffic for this weekend was fully anticipated and a suitable deployment was prepared," the statement said.
"The plan was to have all the police booths manned at Dover by 08:30 BST.
"An unforeseeable technical incident in the tunnel meant that police had to push back their full deployment by an hour."
No bias on my part. I was just reading the BBC website. That response has already been dismissed by the CEO of Eurotunnel who I think we can assume isn't a hard-line Brexiteer.
In reality, this is a case of incompetency by an EU member state that negatively affects a non-member state but presumably the narrative goes along the lines 'if we hadn't had left we wouldn't be exposed to the EU's incompetency'.
Maybe it's a coincidence this occurs on the day the EU starts yet more legal action over the NI Protocol. This time it's about the UK not providing border co-operation to the EU by providing them with relevant data yet a similar thing happens at Dover and the French come up with a dog-ate-my-homework excuse about getting to work late.
Looks like there are still people out there who lap this sort of thing up though.
On the day the EU launch legal action against the UK over the Northern Ireland protocol agreement. Coincidence? I doubt it.
If it takes 3 minutes rather than 1 minute, maximum capacity per gate per day is reduced from 1500 to 480. That's not factoring in busy/light phases of the day.To enter France, one needs a passport and proof of vaccinations. Should take a couple of minutes a car.
This is the French saying yar boo sucks, you exited, deal with it.
That sounds reasonable on the face of it. Non-Irish citizens requiring a permit to enter a foreign country. It's no different to what the USA/Canada and soon the EU wants to impose on everyone else.or the day we read about this bit of bollox from Boris
good that he’s agreed to pay the French to build our latest nuclear power station mind
Irish border: New UK travel rules nonsensical, says Stephen Farry
Tourists as well as non-Irish or British citizens in Ireland will have to pre-apply to cross into NI.www.bbc.co.uk
Also factoring in people who have loaded docs on a mobile and struggle with a signal or power. Plus people you didn't know what they needed to enter The EU.If it takes 3 minutes rather than 1 minute, maximum capacity per gate per day is reduced from 1500 to 480. That's not factoring in busy phases of the day.
Which is why anybody who thinks it through, knows that border checks are a disaster.
If there's 100 cars ahead of you in the queue because you introduced a 3 minute check, then you wait for 5 hours.
Yes they went to a different port of entry and got stuck in the traffic they created, a very unforseen technical explanation. Could not run a, wine tasting in a vinyardYet more Leave bollox. Here is the truth from the French. Believe it or not - it's your choice. No doubt you will believe what suits your agenda.

Of course there was bias on your part. Just read your first post where you gleefully post about "leave bollux" and then you sheepishly try to deflect in your next post by saying it's just what you read.No bias on my part. I was just reading the BBC website.
Yes, but rather than think it through with very simple maths the Mail readers would sooner blame the French. Its the strange sense if entitlement that's baffling, we left yet somehow the French should just wave us through. One post on here rambling on about how it'll affect their travel industry another extension of the theme "they need us more than we need them". Funny I've not heard that one for a while, bizarre how it fell by the wayside......If it takes 3 minutes rather than 1 minute, maximum capacity per gate per day is reduced from 1500 to 480. That's not factoring in busy/light phases of the day.

well said. Some people on here are clearly not only anti Brexit but anti British as well. They never seem to have a positive thing to say about this country. It amazes me that some on here believe the French sending 6 out of 14 officers to do their job was somehow not the fault of the French. Even more amazing is that some believe France's action wasn't intentional on the busiest weekend of the Summer and that France was telling the truth about there being "an incident" in the Channel Tunnel which prevented the officers (who had not set off) arriving. To top it all off, the same idiots blame the UK for France's malfeasance. Bizarre.
Why should the French do anything special for UK citizens? We voted to leave so UK citizens now no longer benefit from easy travel access to the EU and are treated as any other third party country. It amazes me that some on here believe the French sending 6 out of 14 officers to do their job was somehow not the fault of the French. Nothing to do with this country - everything to do with the disaster of Brexit.well said. Some people on here are clearly not only anti Brexit but anti British as well. They never seem to have a positive thing to say about this country.

It's too late realising now how good the benefits used to be and thinking you should still be entitled to them
Gave us free wine once we helped clear Normandy in 1944?The usual bullshit from you. I've travelled extensively to Europe since Brexit and apart from having to show a passport its still easy access.
So stop exaggerating.
And as for the French doing anything special, well welcoming tourists in should be just a basic act of human kindness, whether those people are a member of your club or not.
And I thought tourists bring money to their economy? So why cause problems for people bringing money in?
Cutting off their noses to spite their face is a saying that comes to mind.
Name me one special thing the French did for us before Brexit?
Due to a strike by MyFerryLink which had begun on the Monday.
Well as long as things went alright for you, that's OK then. The 'I'm alright Jack brigade' are fine so there's no problems. The usual bullshit from you. I've travelled extensively to Europe since Brexit and apart from having to show a passport its still easy access.
So stop exaggerating.

Not sure about those figures.Well as long as things went alright for you, that's OK then. The 'I'm alright Jack brigade' are fine so there's no problems.
Let's just enjoy paying off the £57 Billion Brexit divorce bill over the next 25 years instead and hope it's others who suffer.
But you've got to feel sorry for the half of the people that didn't!!It's quite amusing to think that half the people stuck in these 10 hour queues will have voted for it.
1. Allowed us entry to their country with a cursory glance at our passport. Now each passport requires a stamp.Name me one special thing the French did for us before Brexit?
I wouldn't call any of those special, but that's just a difference of opinion1. Allowed us entry to their country with a cursory glance at our passport. Now each passport requires a stamp.
2. Allowed us entry to their country for as long as we liked. Now it's limited to 90 in any 180 days.
3. Allowed us to send parcels to their country by just adding the required stamps. Now, every parcel requires a customs form declaring the content and all parcels have to go through French customs.
I could go on.......
No that was the federal EU state, not France.1.

I assume the same is required in reverse so both need to get their fingers out and get it sorted. I mean what’s the problem, they’re only paying more attention to passports, not checking cars, so why bother? It’s just bureaucracy for the sake of it1. Allowed us entry to their country with a cursory glance at our passport. Now each passport requires a stamp.

As Scara has pointed out that was the EU. Something specific to France if you don't mind?1. Allowed us entry to their country with a cursory glance at our passport. Now each passport requires a stamp.
2. Allowed us entry to their country for as long as we liked. Now it's limited to 90 in any 180 days.

Well they are special to me and thousands of others who have family in the EU.I wouldn't call any of those special, but that's just a difference of opinion
Who mentioned the 2nd World War?I find it a bit odd when some on here evoke the 2nd world war 'go it alone' spirit considering none of them witnessed it but evoking the spirit of Waterloo and Agincourt is just plain mental. Smiles.
So you can still visit them since Brexit? It's not too much trouble showing your passport?Well they are special to me and thousands of others who have family in the EU.
Anyway, I'm out. Enjoying the sunshine and a wonderful family meal in Bruges. Have a nice evening
How does the saying go, "is that true or did you read it on the BBC?"No bias on my part. I was just reading the BBC website.
