Bristol Rovers v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.01.21

Let’s face it
This team and squad is taking us nowhere
Unintelligent football and tactics
Inability to change things positively
Passing the ball across and backwards giving the opposition time to regroup and cover
Always prone to costly defensive errors
For Kaikai read Anderson
Nothing upfront
Waste of set pieces
Turton over hitting a cross through the penalty area towards the end when there was no pool player in the area sums it up for me......rubbish
Rant over

Theres never a dull moment is there. I thought we were decent today just could not get that final shot. saying that we looked less than solid at the back today. Disapointed. i'm starting to come around to the fact we need a proper goalscorer we just miss too many chances. the ballard cross, lubalas effort, one by keshi anderson where he wanted an extra touch.
Looks like balard has a bit of a knock.

Frustrating. At times just head ping pong and lash the ball away. That said if players showed some composure, anticipation we'd have won. Felt sorry for Lubala. Good movement for his first shot, 2 Pool players nearest the ball but no anticipation.
An itsy bitsy performance lacking composure and undone by general sloppiness

I think we are a decent team who will finish mid table, we will beat some of the best teams and flatter to deceive against the poor teams. To make the next step our defence needs improving cos we just don't look solid and our strike force too cos we don't score and don't look like we are gonna score. Like watching a team play that constantly needs a rocket up em.

All about the final third. Getting the ball into good positions but no final delivery most of the time and, then, when it does come, there's no-one that can finish. Both Lubala and Mitchell missing good chances inside the box in the final ten. That was a lot better than Tuesday although Rovers are a worse team. I'm glad we have no league game next week as we need to take stock of where we are. There's no way playing like that are we getting in the play-offs.

I thought they looked motivated today. They tackled hard, they ran hard but some poor defending and finishing cost us. I agree we lacked cohesion but not motivation. There's too many players not confident in there in the final moments and too many players who are *nearly* game changers but not quite. Keshi I thought was typical of us, he had some great moments and some shocking moments. He ran really hard and did some really good stuff, then he'd cross it out out of play.

We were jolted when Rovers came out like mad in the second half after showing no signs of that sort intent in the first and we should have been more clinical in the first 30 minutes when we bossed the game completely.

Shame CJ is injured, he would have had a field day there with all the space on offer.
Not all negatives, we were unlucky not to score mor ethan one and it was a good, open game. We should have put the game to bed early on, but we didn't.
This is a work in progress, earlier on in the season I think many would have been happy with the performance today. We played some good football but lack goals. Bez looked better today, he is quite direct, it is a shame he wasn't introduced earlier.
Anyway we move on. It's not all negative, Critchley has potential to be a great manager.
A lot of people on here seem to oscilate wildly from result to result. We are not going to win every game.

Start of the first half we looked class, dominating, great passing, snatch a goal from a set piece. Then we go and concede from a defensive error, concede another from a great strike..

2nd half could of gone on for 90 minutes and I don't think we'd of scored. This squad is absolutely baffling, how can we go beat basically the top 4 of the division and look absolutely woeful against two teams down near the bottom.

I told you all it would be a difficult game, and I was correct, unfortunately.

Two grounds I hate, The Gas Ground and Ipswich.

With a start like we had, we should have capitalised on it not given it away as we did.
