Burton Albion v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 26.12.23

I don’t think we’ve been as bad as some on here are making out. We conceded a very poor but freakish goal, other than that Burton haven’t tested us. We have the upper hand and are controlling the game, just missing that end product which has been our downfall away from home this season. CJ has been getting into some good positions, wouldn’t surprise me if we score one early on in the second half from him and Rhodes linking up.

I'd like to see someone grab the game by the scruff of neck and get us going.

Dembele usually does this but has been a little ineffective so far today, let’s hope some fucker injects some inspiration second half🤞

Typical Blackpool 🤬

The game going the usual way against crap opposition, concede a soft goal then struggle for 70-80 minutes to muster a shot on goal.

A snippet of our play today, Husband gets the throw in Morgan walks away with his back to him, why not be alert and show for the ball, why are we so ponderous, you always look to play it quickly in that situation and if it is not on then ok, we do low octane stuff and it's so frustrating, hopefully we are much changed second half, we can play when we want but we look soft at times and mentally weak.

I really don’t think it’s been as bad as some are making out. Not every game is set for free flowing football, and sometimes it going to be a battle in a quagmire.
They have only really had one lucky chance, and Dembélé and CJ looking dangerous at times. Get the equilizer and I think Wel push on and win.

I'd swap Lyons for Dale and Joseph for Beesley.
I'll be surprised if any changes are made before 65 minutes. Then we will get Carey for Morgan and maybe Beez for Joseph, who looks lost. Lyons at left wing back is Critchley's latest brainstorm. A good player played completely out of position, hence nothing coming down the left except trouble.

Decided to go to the game.

Sometimes I question my sanity 🤣

Poor first half.

I've no idea how they scored - was Connolly pushed? That's all I can think.

It's Blackpool playing down to the opposition again...

They are well organised, and strong so we really need to play it through them, but we end up going long and winning nothing.

There is plenty of space, we find it, but the pass is late we are are so laboured.

I don't know how we get the spark; but this half we need to get it down and play the pass quicker.

The ref isn't great, but that's not the reason we are losing

There's a really good following but we are quiet as it's all so depressingly similar. Bi-polar Blackpool.

Big second half coming we need to score quickly before they park the bus.

Come on Blackpool!

Poor half again. I keep hearing how good our squad is yet I'm still undecided about so many of our players.
Grimmy
Pennington
Connolly
Morgan
CJ
Joseph
Lyons
And that's just who is playing today. Add onto that
Carey
Dale
Weir
Virtue
Thompson
All of whom I'd prob be looking at to be doing so much better or be thinking about replacements.
The reason we are so inconsistent is we need things to go exactly how we want them to otherwise a lot of our players are too limited to adapt and end up playing crap.

The problem is we've seen this time after time away.

Connolly off, 2 at the back, 2 full backs. Norburn sitting in the Keith southern role. Morgan and Carey pulling the strings in front . Rhodes Dembele Hamilton a front 3. Come on critch !!

Big second half coming.

I could see this performance coming a mile off, hence why I decided not to go.

I said before we're heading for 1.5 points a game for the season, we are shit away from home, you can't go up by having good home form and shit away form. We just look like a bunch of show ponies with no real threat. 45 minutes to redeem it, not holding my breath after last weekends shit show.

trying to outphysical a very big physical side, need to get the ball down and get passing.

Albie Morgan completely at odds, Norburn's having a shocker, slowing the game down too much. personally would swap over lyons and CJ, take Norburn off, put morgan in the central position and give him the the freedom to drive forward which is what he does and bring carey on, to give Burton two players to think about from midfield, cos Kaddy and CJ have had them on toast a couple of times.

refs not helping either, but when do they ever.

Can’t ditch the old reliable 3-5-2 now, can we.

We’ll play it, cos I’m Critchley and I’m always right. My way or the highway. Now lay off my lovechild, Connolly or I’ll tell you all off
