Yes, brilliant, brilliant player. Dad, who was a huge Bury fan, told us about Colin before he went to City. And after he went to City, never tired of telling us that Colin started at Bury! RIP Colin. Top, top player.Brilliant player, sadly passed away.
I remember this very well, it was March 1966 before the World Cup when Colin Bell almost joined Pool. This was 5 months before Alan Ball joined Everton and I was looking forward to seeing Bell and Ball in the same Blackpool team. Blackpool were in Div 1 and Man City were in Div 2 In the 1965/66 season. Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison were in charge of City and it was Allison who convinced Bell to join them. When we sold Bally we offered £42,500 -for him city came in with £45,000.
Top player a class act.
RIP
Think BFC knew Ball was going and wanted Bell. Man City outbid us. Billy, an oldish guy round by me with some human difficulties never tired of telling me what a player Colin Bell was. Not sure it was to wind me up, but he was right of course. RIP Colin. RIP Billy.I remember this very well, it was March 1966 before the World Cup when Colin Bell almost joined Pool. I was only thinking the same the other day Plumbs. When icons from your era start dropping like flies, you start trealise how old you are. RIP Colin a fantastic player in his day.Very sad to hear and I know the City fans will be very upset-a fantastic player for his club and country.
Another reminder to some of us from a certain generation that we're getting older, and it so sad to see all our heroes passing away.
