Did anyone see Mark Radcliffe at the match?

In yesterday's RadMac, he mentioned that he went to the match with some old friends, which prompted him to play "Roller Coaster By The Sea" by Jonathan Richman 😍
A controversial aside - he described his steak pie as excellent.

Also was the drummer for a short time in the cultured FY6 ensemble Skrewdriver 😀
Cultured is an interesting word! But only for the later version of the band, not the original punk band.

Weird and random thought I seem to remember one of the guitarists from the original FY6 lineup being a twin. And a house on or near Robins Lane... its a lifetime ago though and my few remaining brain cells play games with my memory.

You are correct about the twin.

There was an unsavoury association with right-wing extremism at one time. Donaldson and Poulton spring to mind.

Mark was at the match with two old mates who support Exeter and the mighty respectively, along with his longtime best pal Phil - who played all the guitar on all skrewed up before an altercation with Skewy Don (who wanted all the writing royalties) saw him leave in a hurry. I sit with Phil's brother in the North.

Phil accompanied me in 1980 to buy my first ever guitar, a 1975 L/h Telecaster from A1 Music in Manchester , which I still own. Mark was working in radio production at either Piccadilly or the Beeb at the time and we dropped by to show him the guitar.

We all had a pint or so in Schickers after the game. Haven't seen Phil or Mark for a good little while so it was good to catch up 🎸👍

Yeah Ron Hartley who replaced him & had is face on the front cover even though he didn't play on the album. Ron, Grinny & Don all now dead.

Who was the lad who I'm sure was in the band who moved to Manchester, spoke with him loads but never got his name? He'd have a son, probably mid 30's, slightly less.

Big Pool fan. Average height, short blackish hair. LOL, send that over to the identikit team.

You thinking of Kev MacKay? Played bass I think.

Don't know, never got his name despite talking to him for quite a while, often. Or perhaps I've forgotten it?

Does he fit the bill?

edit Have a feeling he was early doors and left.
I will ask! As mentioned, all the other originals bar Phil are dead. Donaldson became a nasty character and had quite a little gang round him in his PLF days. Pretty laughable really when you consider the boiling cauldron of multiculturalism that was Poulton, indeed the whole West Fylde back in the late 70's.

Back in the 70's in PLF not all of us were in the NF or agreed with them but a lot were just young lads who were Punks, then Mods then Skinheads, some jumped on the young NF bandwagon influenced by Donaldson but there were ex older tory nazis hanging around trying to get the local youth into the NF, they were the real driving force behind it. I even grew my hair and went a bit Ramones to look different from them, luckily most of them went through the phase & realized it was not right.

They were certainly very different days all round. NF recruiting outside football grounds, marches and demos. On the other side, the Anti Nazi League and Rock against Racism. Ska, skins, punks, mods, rockers, all of that and more. Made gigs pretty lively! Later, the miners strike and all that manufactured class war brought with it.

I avoided the scene. I was no skinhead and didn’t want to be involved in the politics.

it was clear there was a no go area around them. I assume The Queens and Dolly involved.
