Digital Tickets Update šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

My digital ticket in my Android wallet is still showing the Burton Albion game, when should it update to the Port Vale game?
Android doesnā€™t seem to sit well with this digital ticket . Iā€™m not sure it will update , you will probably need to delete and then reinstall. I did that and Port Vale was there . Unfortunately I reckon you and I will need to do this every match . Not satisfactory at all .

I'll be taking this up with the club when I get the chance. If this technology isn't suitable for certain phones or operating systems the least they can do is offer a plastic card surely as the fault is with their software.

Itā€™s clearly giving you the option of either/or. If you donā€™t have a digital wallet or donā€™t want to use one then simply donā€™t and use the card you spent Ā£20 for. If you forget the card or lose it though, then downloading the digital pass if you can is a smart move.

Moaning for moanings sake is all this is. Although I do think the comms could be clearer to account for the lack of common sense
Well it looks as if itā€™s now been amended to make it clear that you can use either but it didnā€™t originally. Which is why I asked the question.

If you want to see the original wording see post 9. No mention of being able to use either.

At 08:00 today the digital ticket in my Google wallet still displayed Burton game. Without deleting it I tried a further download - got the expected message telling me it was already there, but also... bingo now Port Vale!

Mine still shows the Burton game atm.
I phoned the ticket office yesterday because my lad's digital ST updated last week (both Samsung phones).

The lad at the ticket office said it will still work even though it shows the last match, so I'm not too concerned.

Hopefully I won't get concerned at the turnstile and cause an Arsenal style queue šŸ˜

Donā€™t worry the Digital Champions will be on hand to helpā€¦.šŸ˜€

I have an Android phone. After the Burton game it wasn't listing any match, but the Port Vale game has now appeared without me doing anything.

As much as 'digital champions' is a terrible name (and I can say so as I've been a 'digital champion' in my workplace ffs (it means 'person who points out you are pressing the wrong button') it's a good idea to have people on hand to do this. I've written lots of instructions for tech things in my time and it's always complicated because you end up with

a) writing long winded stuff where you are saying 'press the small blue button on the right hand side, below the green link' and it feels confusing, even though it's just describing the image on a screen.

b) having loads of screenshots that make the message huge and don't format well on certain phones.

c) getting people saying 'but it's not like you say' because different browsers or email platforms format things slightly differently

d) doing a help video that no one actually watches cos no one wants help videos.

e) people who swear blind they haven't had your email until you search it and show them then they say 'well it wasn't there before' even though it clearly says when it was delivered AND they've opened it.

So ultimately, you just end up going 'come and see me and I'll do it for you' half the time.

Would make more sense if it had said, ā€˜If you have not opted (and paid) for a physical card you will have received an e mail with linkā€¦ā€¦ need to download and put in wallet etcā€™. The way it is worded is not helpful imo.
My understanding is that if you have a physical card and have received a digital ticket either one can be used but the other will then be de-activated for that match.
That was the case last season, either worked

My iPhone isn't showing next match on my season ticket in my wallet. I don't think it did for Burton either, so hopefully it will work again tonight

Yea Iā€™m always grateful for the Asda digital champion when my cucumber wonā€™t scan šŸ˜€

People pick things up in different ways.
Showing someone the procedure helps some people much more than reading through loads of instructions or expecting them to gain knowledge out of the ether.

Exactly - but it's really hard to do en masse. This is my point - you can give people 5 or 6 different ways to access the 'learning' so to speak - but even then, you sometimes just have to go 'give it here, I'll show you' and then, 9/10 times people go 'oh, right, is that all it is?'

Ideally you get a bunch of people in a room and go - ok, follow along with me... but it's not easy to do with football fans is it?

Maybe they could make the "digital champions" stand out more, so that people could go and ask them for help before getting in the queue?
Dress them up in mobile phone outfits or something. West Brom manage to have someone dressed as a boiler, so it should be possible šŸ˜œ

I deleted my digital pass in error after the Burton game and could not find it. Emailed the club and received a new season pass within 5 minutes. Thanks ticket office.

ditto - just did same now showing Port Vale - cheers

Sat in Spain enjoying the last couple of days left on my hols and my mate messaged me asking why my old man wasn't at the game.
Duly messaged my old dear to confirm this and rang him at half time.
His ST had disappeared from his wallet and they couldn't find it. He ended up stressing about it and decided not to go in the end due to this.
He's almost 85.
I installed and downloaded his ST pre-season. He used it first game but I'm not putting him through this scenario again.
I dread to think how much money he's put in to this club over 80yrs but for the sake of Ā£20 I'll get him a plastic ST on Saturday when I'm back.
He can't be alone in this situation.
He can handle the internet and most technology but this is proving to be beyond him.

My dad sounded genuinely upset last night, and that's not him.
Does anyone know if you can just walk in to the ticket office and get a plastic ST printed there and then or do I have to rider it in advance? I'm sure I've read about it previously but can't recall what was said.

I got the plastic cards to save the hassle of using the digital tickets due to taking the grandsons. I just went in the club shop and asked for them over the counter, after checking ID and season ticket purchase they were printed off and that was it. In and out in just a few mins.

I hope someone at the club is going to be held accountable for this type of crap @SLO_BFC .
How the hell has it come to this and then have the nerve to charge Ā£20? This is a tax on people like this as was warned by people before all this happened.

This is the main long term issue for me. Digital software providers will only support a version of software for a certain period of time. That might be as little as 2 or 3 years. Is everyone expected to buy a new phone every few years to keep up to date with this system?

There is an Asda near us where there is no mobile data connectivity. The staff are going spare as customer after customer reaches the till, gets the Asda app out and it fails to open up. My other half held the till up, walked out the supermarket, across the car park and came back a few minutes later having got reception near the petrol station... just to get a Ā£5 voucher saving. The look on the lady's face on the till. šŸ˜„

You can just go in ticket office and they print them there and then in less than two minutes. We got 4

I have both our STā€™s on my phone. Tried numerous times to gain entry but wasnā€™t working. Steward at the gate didnā€™t have a clue what to do either. Good job I had purchased plastic STā€™s, just in case. Digital tickets have updated to the Leyton Orient game now, so will try again on Saturday.

Walked over to the ground at about 7.25pm to see massive queues snaking from the West turnstiles. Not seen it so bad before.

Heard the shout from a steward, ā€œjust show us your phones and you can get inā€ā€¦ so it was scrapped.

Got round to entrances 1 & 2 and the queue was stretched half way down the car park from the entrance.

Iā€™m not having its just an ā€œoperator issueā€ even with some of our fans, thereā€™s not been queues like it ever, even sold out games.

Letā€™s not forget the new system would and I quoteā€¦

ā€œThis decision will also ensure a faster entry into Bloomfield Road for all supporters on a matchday.ā€

It was a farce last night & the Club will be losing money as people canā€™t get in the ground to get a pint, food etc.

Interesting to see how it plays out as the season continuesā€¦

I believe that landed them in hot water.

Absolutely no issue for anyone at turnstiles 13-14. Everyone straight in around 7.20 when I went through. Only reporting what I saw.

Problems in the West. Hmmm. Can't help but think it's user error.

My phone didn't update and is still showing the Burton game, I emailed the ticket office, they said it doesn't matter your ticket will work.
It did, doesn't matter which game is displayed your digital ticket will work. I don't know why the queues are there but the system is working as far as I can see.

Same here - 13/14 no issue.

I also forwarded one of ours. He got an email, simply showed the bar code to the scanner.

Got through turnstile 1/2 with no issue whatsoever for both home games, other than the massive queue making me miss KO on both occasions. My ST still days Burton Albion on it, BTW!

Also it'll be very annoying for people who opted for cards thinking they can escape the chaos, but are stuck in queues like the rest.

Yep, spend in the bars will be down, many getting in way later won't then bother with a pie and a pint etc, it'll be costing the club.

Let's face it, 2023, there's no reason this should be able to work perfectly smoothly, even with people who aren't familiar with the tech and a small learning period may be expected, but it doesn't seem to have been well thought out or tested. A bit like when the SSO accounts came in that caused chaos too, infact I think there's still some that could never log in.
