eTicket AGAIN - SLO

We are into October my lads eticket didn't work tonight, refused admission and told to go to the ticket office. It isn't f###ing good enough, forking out £350 upfront and being refused admission. Get it sorted properly or drop the £20 charge for a plastic card.
Absolutely pathetic, it shouldn't be this difficult for any season ticket holder to get into the ground.

I’ve not been able to use the digital ticket at any game. Had plenty of dialogue with the ticket office about the problem, which has ended with them deciding to refunding the £20 I paid for the plastic ST.

Tried it with me last Saturday telling me to go to the ticket office when mine and my lads wouldn’t work.
Told them no and refused to budge showing them my phone with the season ticket on and they eventually let me in because I was holding up a big cue at 2:55pm, although they were quick to remove my 10 year olds drink from his hand when doing so and told me to get a card for next time 🤣
They need standing upto or nothing will be done.

absolute chaos at turnstile 5 in the west tonight. Would imagine a few didn't get in in time. Gate 5 queue must have had a couple of hundred people waiting. Took about five minutes with one person trying to get in who couldn't and they wouldn't let him in either. Then a minute or so later it happens again. And people on here defend the process and the club who said digital makes it easier and quicker. Nonsense.

It's pathetic Pete and someone at the club needs to hold their hands up and acknowledge this frigging debacle. It's utter chaos and asking people to fork out their hard earned up front pre season, then not be able to get in the ground is beyond unacceptable.

Mine worked on the 2nd tap.

This is pretty simple tech, if we can't get this to work in 2023, it's a bit concerning.

A guy in front of me his wouldnt scan on his phone so one of the stewards tried it and it wouldn’t work he then said turn youre phone around and try it which he did and bizarrely it worked.

Said to my lad last night that it's a massive step forward - we're in the south though where it seems to be working seemlessly.

The forwarding of tickets to a friend works well as well - not available for all games though which is strange.

Clearly something is wrong - surely the stewards can have access to a portable swipe machine / ST list to sort issues quickly - and the minority that are having issues should be given a physical card by exception. It's not difficult to sort.

Got to 1 & 2 at 7.25pm. Got in the ground at 7.43pm.

Can’t be arsed with that if it’s ever pissing down.

It’s just shite. Even if you buy a card you’re still stuck in big fuck off queues which never happened to this level ever, before we brought in a system to improve fan experience and quicken entry to the stadium.

Same happened in the South the guy in front of me his phone wouldn’t scan ,steward couldn’t get it to work.Steward told him he had to go to the ticket office but he refused to move.So every one behind him had to join the adjacent queue.

I honestly don’t understand why it would not be working seemlessly?

It’s simple and proven technology. Wembley use the same technology and there were almost no queues this weekend?

So either the firm that deployed ig are clueless or users aren’t doing something?

Not sure if they have changed something this season in the system, i used it last season & was spot on every game but this season it is a bit hit & miss .

I assume that there is a server somewhere in the ground that handles the scanner inputs and says whether to allow the code given entry. At Wembley I would expect several servers to be installed, at least 1 in each stand. By the looks of it we might have 1 server for the whole stadium, and it's getting overworked around kickoff.

20 minutes it took us to get in last night pathetic.

Open more gates or the simplest cheapest way give some of the security a handheld Ticket reader same ones they use to get into one of the beer lounges job done.

My ticket was completely gone from apple wallet. Found it in ‘expired’, lucky really because I don’t get signal in the ground so finding the email to get the ticket back would’ve been impossible

Basically yes. They’ll all be hard wired back to controllers and the controllers are networked back to a ‘Doorman’ PC
You could run several to balance the load but really shouldn’t need to.

that may have been me mate hahaha

me and my mate now go in the ground much earlier than we used to for the reasons stated above, we shouldn’t have to.

At least they have an offer on the beer and it’s a decent pint the Cruzcampo.

Fortunately I've not had a problem getting into the South.
What the Club should do is ask those that are continually having problems to come down to the ground, at a convenient time, and look at the problem first hand. There could be any number of reasons why the e-ticket fails be it system error, compatibility errors or simple user error.
It does need sorting though but why the Club feels the need to charge £20 for a (2 season card) is beyond me whilst these problems exist.

Tbf it helps that the south has about half as many people as the north area.

Any gates around the north, some are NW and the queues are huge at times.

One thing I have noticed in the queue is the number of people that get to the gate after a long queue and then are looking for their phone.

Then trying to find the ticket in the wallet before eventually presenting the QR to the reader.

All that adds 2 mins so multiply by number of fans and that doesn’t help?
Just have it open and ready to present and it will help 👍

You could almost think that's the ploy to get you in early to make more money on food and drink at the cost of local businesses who get a welcome boost on match days.🤔

I think the readers are the issue - and note doesn't work on an apple watch either - no issues on a phone - and you can store multiple passes on one device

concourse under the west on the north side with 10 minutes to go was pretty deserted as there were that many people outside trying to get in.

Apple Watches can work as a tag but they can’t 2 way communicate. So that might be the reason? Depends how they’ve set it up I guess?

But it'll actually be losing them money, as people aren't always able to change the time they arrive nor indeed are they willing.

If it was a simple tap and in at 7:30 there should be plenty of time to then spend money at the bars.

There seemed to be a problem on the N side of the West last night. No queue at all on S side of the West.

you might not have had a problem in the west but clearly many others have had and trust me it's not the fans fault.
They should have one turnstile in each stand for plastic card holders only. I forked out for the plastic one and have to wait in the queue behind people whose digital doesn’t work. I appear to have wasted £20, and at my advanced age (83) I don’t appreciate standing for 20+ minutes every game. If this problem isn’t resolved, this will regrettably be my last season.

Is it not how people use the phone when approaching the scanner ? I was behind somebody the other week and he was trying to stick his phone in the slot !! Why does it make so much difference using a card or a phone is it not the same technology ?

not at all in my case i am most competent on technology and the use of a phones technology, it’s the workings or not of the scanner that’s the issue.

Add mine to the list. Not worked yet this season, have to bring up the barcode every time. West Stand, gates 5- 6 and 7-8. I've asked the steward which way the phone goes, they haven't a clue. I've had it face forward, back forward, top forward etc. Not going to work! It's a top of the range Samsung 5G this that and the other? It works everywhere else, train tickets, boarding cards, Samsung and Google Pay. Cheap hardware no doubt.

oh didn’t know that. However when I saw the guy do that the steward told him to tap it on the scanner and it worked.

That's the contingency, not the intended usual operation. As I've said on another post I don't have to do that rigmarole on any other occasion I've used that feature. As additional information I was asking my mate who has an iPhone and he doesn't have the barcode feature so you will be fecked if it doesn't work. They are probably them holding the queues up and showing it on screen to the stewards.
