Everton -10

just seen it. Puts them joint bottom but only one point off safety. About time they went down but they'll still probably get out of it. Three poor teams down there.

They've spent millions on some shite and bang average players over recent years so their financial woes are hardly surprising!

4 points off safety 20's
Dingles and Everton on 4
Next team on 5
4th bottom 9

They will be 19th Burnley still bottom on goal difference
Everton are lodging an appeal against the 10 points deduction

One things for sure, they'll be so much fuss , column inches and radio debates over this over the coming weeks it will get ridiculous. No such interest if your in L1 and below. Take the deduction and get on with it.
Same with Var and refereeing decisions. Sick of hearing about Newcastle v Arsenal and that goal.

Still think they’ll stay up, the other teams at the bottom this season are poor. When was the last time a prem team was deducted points? Genuinely can’t remember

They will stay up. Current form and goal difference better than the teams currently in the bottom four.

Remember Boro getting docked points for failing to fulfil a fixture against Blackburn which ultimately relegated them

I wonder if we’ll now see some legal cases brought by teams that went down last 2 seasons. I don’t think there should be much sympathy for them, they retained their PL status and the money, when they should have gone down.

In their favour, they’ve got the right manager in this situation. Will be proper siege mentality.

Its an interesting move by the Premier League. Given Everton approached the Prem first and offered to work with them instead of waiting to be caught out.

Even more interesting will be what Man City may get punished if they get found guilty of any more than 1 of their 115 charges.

Certainly seems a bit of a politics involved in this to try and avoid a football regulator being appointed.

No chance will Man City be found guilty.

I think they might do. Purely because the Premier League doesn't want an independent regulator and so will want to show the government that they can police themselves.

Although, money talks I guess.

just one observation. Seems they found it easy to pin a charge on Everton. Seemingly the likes of City and Chelsea have better accountants and lawyers.
The only suitable punishment for City would be liquidation. Made a mockery of the game

Will be interesting to see how Chelsea’s cheating gets dealt with now.
Using Abramovich’s offshore companies to pay “research and consulting” fees in £millions to players’ agents’ offshore accounts brought them players they couldn’t afford. And most of the dubious lawyers have now got their shitty sticks out to separate themselves from Abramovich.

This, this and this again 👍 And I'll add Chelsea into this as well, more dodgy stuff came out yesterday

20s , it's about losses ( financial, obviously) over 3 consecutive years. I don't know the figures for City and Chelsea.

Clubs that take the financial urine should face consequences for their actions; I can think of several clubs that spend fake monies or finances that are not attributable to their income.

I like Everton but hopefully this is the start of a financial reckoning with proper consequences.

Yeah weird. Simon Jordan explained it this morning by saying Everton’s case was more binary than City’s 🤷

Sheffield weds got deducted 12 points appealed and it ended up 6points instead of 12. Same could work for Everton’s appeal maybe 4/5 instead of 10

Has this come out of the blue, no pun intended, or has it been rumbling publicly for a while? I don't follow the top division that closely.

If the 10 deduction sticks.... Luton, Blades and Burnley must have already been expecting the worst. Suddenly a little bit of form from one of them is going to go a long way. Might even mean that one of them takes a bigger gamble in the January sales than they were planning to.
