Fans meeting with the players on Wednesday

I think it was right that the feelings of the fans are transmitted to the players and the hierarchy . It's not about their ability it's about playing for the shirt and what comes with it, it's about being together and doing things the right way. What the fans have been through this last decade from the Promised Land of the Premier League to League 2 teetering on the edge of oblivion. Fans being sued, menaced and openly mocked by the clubs owners and what they had had to endure to get their club back. We are not little Blackpool punching above our weight, we have a place in the history of English football. If nothing else I hope it cleared the air after last Saturday's humiliation. I have little confidence in MM turning it around but tomorrow's game is a pivotal moment.

My mates a staunch red scouser. He's seen what has gone on at BFC & is going to give the reds players 'down the banks' (his words).
He's not going to tell them that he has no coaching badges & only played for South Liverpool in a couple of games, as they may think he doesn't know what he's talking about. Klopp's not going to be invited as he doesn't want hitting by the big guy 🤣
Don’t understand this at all , sorry 🙈🤷

It's true, but he is an outspoken scouser, who supports a top PL club.
In a nutshell, he said threatening to go to the training ground in large numbers to confront the manager / players is bad enough. But allowing 2 random supporters to give their thoughts to a group of first team players, with or without the manager being there - is ridiculous, in any standard of professional football.
He doesn't understand how crazy life is at BFC!
If it's worked - that'll be brilliant.

Does that matter? because he is not prepared to sit on his hands and watch us sink.

If you listen to Dino's interview above you will see it may have finally hit home with him.
If that is all Raggy has achieved with this then it's okay by me because we are going down as it stands.
It does matter.

The fact a grown man went on a podcast saying he’s going to take time off his day to shout at players while they’re training was petulant enough.

That the club feel they had to appease this guy is even worse.

** brilliant!!

Pete Positive strikes again... 😂

As it is... We've got group of players who left the room fired up and having a much clearer understanding of what WE (Blackpoll FC and our supporters are all about) and our most vociferous fans fired up and committed to get the place bouncing tomorrow.

All we're doing here is adopting the same kind of approach as many European Clubs where the so called 'Ultras' play an important role in representing the fans directly with the Club.

Good on the lads for stepping up and calling the Club to account and Good on the Club for listening and being open to something a bit different.

Laughing Stock My Arse....
I honestly don't understand how anybody can not think this is a good thing

We don't half have some cunty fans on this site

But he didn't say that and you must have made that up in your head.
It is simply not true.

or the club realised he has more passion for the club than McCarthy will ever have…

A life long passionate fan who’s had enough of dickheads telling us we are “little old blackpool” if there’s a problem pop in the armfield and I’m sure he will be happy to explain all. dickhead.
Bang on

There are two types of people in the world

1.Those who just accept what they are told and just bend over

2. Those who will put their necks on the line to try and effect change

I know what camp I'm in

Ive heard the recording and I thought it was brilliant. Players and supporters together with one aim and thats to avoid the drop.
Maxwell admitted he fucked up with their free kick and Rodgers absolutely loves it here.
The meeting was set up because they ‘thought’ there was going to be aggro at the training ground so they were about to cancel the training.
Clearly that didnt sit well with both parties so this was a ‘meet in the middle’ arrangement.
I dont know how to get the audio on here but its doing the rounds on Messenger.
I thought Raggy put his points across well and it was well met by the players.

The conclussion is we have to get the ground rocking and the players will do there bit.
The parting statement about team selection was ‘wait till Friday’ from Ben and Brett so read into that what you will.

Great Post

Thanks Steve - no one is criticising you.
I think there would be less upset, if we'd had better communication from the two attending supporters, both before & after the 2 meetings.
As it is, there was a big announcement on their Sunday podcast that they were going to the training ground in numbers & we heard nothing else prior to reading the Gazette / Mail.
In my working life, I've learnt that if anything is going to go wrong, it will involve communication.
In addition the board are attracting criticism, but that's for them to reflect on.
UTMP
The meeting was only yesterday !

Raggy has a day job and has an involvement at the Arndale ( 😆 ) - oh and a family life to square off

An audio has been widely circulated and it’s in the SLO’s gazette column it appears tomorrow

As an aside this isn’t anything to do with the podcast as such other than Raggy said what he planned to do on last Sundays show

Heard two mins of the audio and that was enough.
So one supporter takes it on himself to slag off a manager and his selections and then claims “I’m here to represent all the fans”

Sorry mate - this is 100% not about you because I know little about you but you do not represent me or the majority of fans!

What next? We get him to select the team on a Saturday? So some bloke who never sees the players train, doesn’t have analysis of the opposition, doesn’t know players mind sets or injuries and I guarantee wouldn’t choose a team that 100% of fans agree with suddenly has the power to confront and talk to players without the manager there!

I am absolutely appalled at this club for putting players in that position and for allowing him access to them just because he threatened to turn up with his baying mob at the training ground!

This is nothing against the fan - it is a 100% damning indictment of the pathetic way this club is being run. This last week we have become an absolute laughing stock - the Oystons must be laughing all the way back to Claughton Hall. Embarrassing.

Its not about team selection or the way we play. It's about how much this team means to the town and its fans. Players are mercenary as are managers. Fans are loyal.

The club allow a passionate fan to show the players what it means to represent this historic club. Just what was needed.

Most of the players there were at Wembley - if they don’t know what the club means to the fans by now, they never will!
Also who’s to say those players love this club as much as we do? It’s their livelihoods and most will be here next season and won’t want to be in League One.

I'm actually appalled that you can think that way

Fair point. But what they felt at Wembley has been corroded by piss poor management and motivation. We need something special to survive. And it’s not going to come from Mad Mick

Shouldn't it be MM they spoke to as he picks the players and tactics. What's the point in talking to just the players if the manager is going to do it his way no matter what the players think. It's MM who's the problem, not the players.

Love him or loath him its a must-listen for all Seasiders.
Good on you Raggy lad. Speaks from the heart and absolutely reflects my opinion 100%. Churchilian like, should have the guy doing team talks…

So Mansford et al saying wait till Friday. So the board are now picking the team/tactics. Just pot him ffs and put Dobble in charge. Can only think of a massive compo if they did that but believe me it wouldn’t amount to £7M. Get him out of our club!!!!

It seems a bit bizarre that the club allowed two fans no matter how well-intentioned to meet with players. All the players mentioned in the article

I think are at the end of their contract in four weeks' time or go back after their loan period. Thankfully the club kept the players that

are under contract next season away from the meeting. But I think it sets a dangerous precedent that allows the more vocal and militant

fans access to vent their opinions.
Disagree. Do nothing and we are equally as culpable

Not sure why Phil - you have slagged off the board in the last 12 months - I said this was nothing to do with the fan involved, it has to do with the farcical way this club is being run.
Just because your mate got to have his 15 minutes of fame doesn’t mean it was the right thing. If it’d been someone you didn’t agree with and they’d been invited in then I doubt you’d be so enthusiastic.

If you listened to it all, you would have heard him say he wasnt speaking for ALL the fans as some would disagree with him.
Poor form to judge without listening to all the evidence IMO

Not cunty just not attention seeking, the management allowing Raggy this meeting and in their previous visit to the Armfield club with

Appleton showing that he had no tattoos have shown everyone we are little Blackpool, the very thing Raggy was saying was wrong with the

club at the moment. The Preston fans reading the reports of this meeting and especially Karl and Owen must be watching this unfold and find it

amusing that the current management has let this happen. Unfortunately, this has just confirmed to me even more that Mansfords judgment is

even more suspect, already he has appointed two managers that are polar opposites in styles one that was deeply unpopular, and he has

overseen two terrible transfer windows this season, and now he is letting the fans give team talks.

I think Raggy has had far more than his 15 mins of fame over the last 10 years or so

I read it more like some of the spirit that makes Blackpool special needed to be shared with the players right now, as it’s not going to come from McCarthy.

Every single player now knows that Blackpool FC.. is one of a tiny number of English clubs to have one of their players win the Ballon D’or.. The inaugural winner, no less.
👍
I'm not criticising Raggy in any way, I agree with him 100%, I am glad he has spoken to the players and they now know exactly what this club means to us and what we have battled against in the past, I am also okay that BB and Gerrity were there. I just think it's absolutely shocking that we are in this situation, it's just shit and I hope that the players, and I think they will 100% take it on board but to get to a situation where the supporters are having to go to these lengths to try and get through to the club shouldn't be happening.

Maybe Raggy needs a position at the club where he speaks to every new player that we sign and give regular reminders to the squad and the staff, all the staff, from the bottom to the top. I am still surprised Sadler allowed it though, maybe my initial post was written in haste without thinking about it or knowing the facts fully, I just want the best for the club and madcap though it may be and exciting because we are so off the wall to other clubs and supporters, I just wish we could have some calm and normality and some professionalism from the club.

So, Raggy, you are a ** star mate, never stop, well done for getting into the inner sanctum and speaking to the players, I would love to know what they said too. Shame Gaz isn't fit and playing because he would have been great to have had there too and if we still had Keogh, I don't think we would even be having the need for this because he ruled to roost in the dressing room.

I have a conspiracy theory to end with. I think Quitchley will be back in charge in May and we will hear from him on why he left and will have a promise of being supported for new players. He will get an experienced assistant and after the initial mixed reaction we will settle down, get behind him and do well next season whatever league we are in, at least I hope so.

I haven't always agreed with him, but he is a top bloke and if we had a few more like him we would be better for it. He isn't about fame, 15 minutes or any other number, he just cares and is prepared to confront those who need to listen and say it how it is.

I don't doubt the passion of Raggy and the bottle for delivering that speech .He made some very good points. I just don't think he should have been given the opportunity, it won't achieve anything and it makes the club look tinpot ...a bit like when Glenn Bowley was put on a panel with Jimmy Armfield to pick the next manager.
Some on here seem to now be blaming everything on one man, who's not been here very long and giving a lot of free passes out to everybody else, mainly the players.
