Fans meeting with the players on Wednesday

I read it more like some of the spirit that makes Blackpool special needed to be shared with the players right now, as it’s not going to come from McCarthy.

But it is Raggy's perspective of the situation, the players are not invested like fans it's a job to them, and for all the players in attendance

a job that ends in four weeks.

The players and management are missing something and apparently, we can see it as fans but they can't. The stuff Raggy has said is in Mick's blindspot, and no one else at the club has been here long enough to say it passionately and mean it. I don't advocate for this kind of thing to happen often, but at this time and in these circumstances I think it was needed.

no self respecting player wants a relegation on their CV.

The only players that a relegation will affect are the players that will be under contract with the club next year and stop, just look at Charlie Adam

when we got relegated. All the loan plays will return to their clubs, and the better players this season such as Yates will probably be sold.

so you’re intimating that this group of players are indifferent about being relegated?

Some players will be indifferent, certainly some of the younger loan players, and players that know they won't have the contract renewed

regardless of relegation such as Bridcutt. Others that have been through the journey of the last three seasons together will be disappointed,

I don't think Yates, Dougall, Husband, Maxwell, etc will be happy. All the players at the meeting except for Rodgers are out of contract

in four weeks, and will be unemployed unless options are taken up. Imagine a customer turning up at any other business and telling staff that

were being made redundant in four weeks all about the company how special it was and how lucky they were to work there, it just wouldn't

make any difference.

Much better than rocking up uninvited to the training ground.

Just disappointed we’ve got to the eve of such a crucial match and Mad Mick has been allowed another chance to mess it up.

There is a line in there which is absolute poetry:
"You have our dreams at your feet, and our nightmares too"

His promise to do his part in getting the ground bouncing with a rallying call to fans is enough for there to be some positive come out of this. The call worked on me, I text my old man saying we need to be in our seats 20 minutes before kick off (we're normally still in the pub) - I hope others do the same.

I would think some of the prospective managers the board has in mind, might decide they don’t want to come to a club who’s board allows random fans to address the players and give a team talk.

I doubt any club, anywhere, ever, has done this. At least we can say we were the first, and probably the last.

Listened to the pod as a non regular listener and I thought Raggy came across well and said all the right things.

Whether it makes any difference, who knows, but respect for having a go and well done to the club for listening to the noise and setting something up.

Last week (funnily enough vs Cardiff) Swansea City had their Kit Man (A Swansea Supporter) participate in the Pre-Match Team Talk !!

Old stubborn arse MMc will probably stick 2 fingers up as he will feel his position and authority has been undermined. He came in here 3 months ago to keep us in the Championship and it’s been nothing short of disastrous. No footballer or anybody else for that matter wakes up in the morning and thinks I’ll do a shit job today but it’s all about management and how to get the best out of individuals. The club has failed miserably in not supporting our players by shite appointments, bringing in injury prone players, shit transfer windows and poor decisions in general. Why the fuck it takes 2 fans to put the cards on the table with 7 games of the season left to play is quite frankly unbelievable.

I’d like to think that the recordings were passed to one of those players in attendance at the meeting for them to share with the remaining squad to listen to.
I’m sure those that didn’t go to the meeting would benefit from hearing what the club means to us (if they don’t already) and the attacking passion we demand on the pitch.

At the end of the day, MM will do what he wants with the team selection v Cardiff as no manager worth his salt will be told what to do regarding team selection, fans meeting or not.

The point being about Raggy’s passionate plea, if they didn’t get from it what type of performance we expect today, they will by the fans reaction at full time if we get beat.

The meeting was only yesterday !

Raggy has a day job and has an involvement at the Arndale ( 😆 ) - oh and a family life to square off

An audio has been widely circulated and it’s in the SLO’s gazette column it appears tomorrow

As an aside this isn’t anything to do with the podcast as such other than Raggy said what he planned to do on last Sundays show
Thanks. I thought the 1st meeting was on Monday with the board members, and as the plan was announced during Sundays podcast & two of the member went to the meetings, then it's linked with the podcast isn't it ?
What's done is done, I just hope it works & we win today.
Personally I think the board were wrong to allow it as it sets a bad precedent, but that's only my opinion as a supporter and I fully accept others differing views.
If the players and coaches can't sense dissatisfaction from the atmosphere in the stadium, then there's something wrong with them!
I do appreciate all have busy lives & priorities differ.

McCarthy’s position at the Ciub is rapidly becoming untenable if it isn’t already. I would have much preferred this fans meeting to have been with McCarthy & TC with Ben, Brett and the SLO in attendance. Fans addressing the players is like preaching to the converted, the players’ hands are tied, they probably daren’t speak out and without McCarthy fully on board they are on a hiding to nothing. The players need to be given the confidence by Mick to go out on the pitch, take risks and express themselves. The barrier to progress is not the players it is McCarthy’s style of defensive football, team and squad selections, tactics, formations and substitutions. Mick is now in a predicament, if he does select an attacking team today and really goes for the win and we do win, then questions will quite rightly be asked as to why he didn’t do this earlier. If Mick sticks to what he believes in and we win he will say he was right all the time. A loss in either scenario today could be catastrophic in so many different ways for the rest of this season . Mick has spent his whole managerial career perfecting one style of football, he is known to be dogmatic, one dimensional, not open to new ideas or change and very set in his ways. The current issues at Blackpool will not be anything knew to him, he will have ridden out similar storms many times before. McCarthy’s position and authority has definitely been undermined, some would say he would have a good case for constructive dismissal.

There is no doubting Raggy's passion, commitment & desire - he has the club at heart.
The players will always insist they give their all and maybe they do, but they've not been good enough as a squad to get results in the championship - that's why we are where we are, the table doesn't lie.
What can they & MMc change to win the 4 or 5 games we need to survive - that's over to them & I hope MMc responds positively to the meeting.
I also hope (& I believe he will have) in private, that Raggy relayed the views of the supporters onto the board members, with regards to their atrocious decision making this season - that must improve going forwards.
Thanks for providing the audio Raggy it is very much appreciated & let's all get behind the team & the coaches for the final games. I can say I agree with the board taking the action they did, but it's history now.

Well that’s just bad isn’t it, we don’t have a world first
When I look at it, I see an inventive / creative and more importantly a winning manager, who is thinking outside the box.

What happened at our Club on Wednesday was different. It was different for the players and that might just make the difference.

I’ve mentioned Holloway on another post, but remember him taking the Players to the Sandcastle?

Sometimes, it takes something different, something unusual and out of the ordinary to ignite the spark…. Crikey, did Barry Fry not piss in every corner of the ground to supposedly break a Gypsy curse?

Right now..Surely anything is worth a go ??

The Preston fans reading the reports of this meeting and especially Karl and Owen must be watching this unfold and find it amusing that the current management has let this hahappen
I wouldn't worry about them, they dont get us. Most Preston fans don't even understand the boycott and come out with absolute nonsense like we only stopped going because we went down to league 1 or because we were losing... but then 15+k miraculously returned when the Oystons had gone... in league 1, the very league people were apparently trying to avoid.

Most of them will be too ** busy tidying up threads on their Bore’em Forum to “make sure there aren’t any duplicates”

I quite frankly despair of our club at times.
I'm sorry, I don't know Ragozzino but why him?
I remember his tweets when he stood as an Independent Candidate for election and they were the ramblings of someone who I don't think should be a voice piece or a representative of our fan base. Where are BST in all of this? The elected fan base of the club? Surely if the club and players want to hear fans views they go through official bodies rather than bring in someone who I watched on the Podcast last week and whilst he was right on a number of points, half his points were inane and reckless.
The rest about MM not being there, players having to answer questions, the fact he has supposedly brought out an audio recording of what went on just rings alarm bells for me.
I know I'll get shot down but it all feels very tinpot to me
I really rail against people like you Poolfan2 who make negative criticisms without attempting to supply an answer to the problem itself. I also don't know Raggy but I applaud his enthusiasm and positivity to engage the club and its players to see an answer to our current dilemma. Next time Poolfan2 you put your fingers on the keyboard try to think how we can move the club and the debates into a more positive place and support those like Raggy whose efforts are made on behalf of the club and supporters. UTMP!

Players should be given a tour around the Armfield Club shortly after signing

Every credit to the two lads who went

It’s a case of try anything

We want no regrets

But for only one game then it dropped back by about 3-5,000

Doesn't matter, it shows league 1 wasn't the issue, also it was a special occasion so had the majority of exiles, casuals etc attending, like most big games tend to. You had 6k go missing after last years derby game.

The attendances went up massively, there was barely anyone goinig in the home ends despite the announced attendances.

JJ, the only reason Nothought White comes on here is for some attention.
'Cos he gets bugger all on PKE Online - 14,399 messages but only 4,048 reactions...

So just do what his fellow PKE fans do - ignore him.

Huge respect for those fans who attended the meeting. They are actively trying to do something positive and have ideas to go along with it.

Heard two mins of the audio and that was enough.
So one supporter takes it on himself to slag off a manager and his selections and then claims “I’m here to represent all the fans”

Sorry mate - this is 100% not about you because I know little about you but you do not represent me or the majority of fans!

What next? We get him to select the team on a Saturday? So some bloke who never sees the players train, doesn’t have analysis of the opposition, doesn’t know players mind sets or injuries and I guarantee wouldn’t choose a team that 100% of fans agree with suddenly has the power to confront and talk to players without the manager there!

I am absolutely appalled at this club for putting players in that position and for allowing him access to them just because he threatened to turn up with his baying mob at the training ground!

This is nothing against the fan - it is a 100% damning indictment of the pathetic way this club is being run. This last week we have become an absolute laughing stock - the Oystons must be laughing all the way back to Claughton Hall. Embarrassing.
You're easily embarassed. The players appear to have taken it on board and if they can't handle the views of a passionate fan reminding them what the fanbase went through with the Oystons then perhaps they are at the wrong club. I seem to remember Artete inviting one of the kitmen (Arsenal fan for 50 yrs) to give a pre-match pep talk before the Spurs derby to put across what it means to the fans.
