Fans meeting with the players on Wednesday

I haven't found a thread on a meeting that took place on Wednesday in the Heineken Lounge, but it's been a busy old week on AVFTT. Does anyone have any detail of what was said & how the players responded & the thoughts on the manager not being present please?
The following is a full extract referring to the meeting from the Gaz:
"But back to this week, matters took an unexpected twist on Wednesday when some of the senior players were spoken to by a couple of fans inside the Heineken Lounge.
"Crucially, McCarthy wasn’t involved, but the likes of Mansford, director Brett Gerrity and supporter liaison officer Steve Rowland were all in attendance.
From reports, it sounds like it was a mainly positive meeting where the players were encouraged, rather than lambasted. It wasn’t all one-way, either, with the likes of Chris Maxwell, Luke Garbutt, James Husband, Kenny Dougall and Morgan Rogers all speaking up."

Hopefully it was Raggy and he gave one of his rousing positive messages.

Interesting if true that the manager was not in attendance.

I'm surprised that we've not been updated, especially if it's a follow on from Sundays podcast & the intention to visit SG.
We've had a variety of posts on here this week, but this is a very significant & import development for us supporters.
I too hope it was a passionate, tangerine hearted Raggy, who gave his 'out of the trenches' best.

They were told who would be playing tomorrow. That is, the players were told by Raggy. None of them dare bubble it or they’ll get their contracts torn up and it’s horse’s head time
This is the Daily Mail article.

Do I need to get down to The Taps to find out what actually happened?
Well done to Raggy and A N Other for doing this but whatever happened at the meetings now appears to be covered by the same level of secrecy that is exercised by the BFC Board.

Thanks Inny that adds a bit to the gazette article.
It's great that 2 unidentified & unelected fans have been given this unprecedented opportunity & hopefully it will work tomorrow.
However, as the guys were representing the whole fan base on this crucial subject, I'd expect there to be a summary of what was discussed & the outcomes. Maybe there is one somewhere? If it weren't for the Gazette, we wouldn't even be aware that the meeting took place.
I am slightly concerned that 2 meetings took place & that MMc wasn't at either (unless he chose not to attend). Like him or not, doesn't that undermine his position & where does that leave us with morale in the camp?
Following the meetings, MMc will have taken training & will be in the dugout tomorrow, not knowing what was discussed about all aspects of his leadership, tactics, team selection etc. That in itself is an extremely unusual situation for the club to have created.
Exactly who is running this sh*t show?

I'm expecting massive changes tomorrow team wise.
If not then that's that, Mickysaurus will have taken us down through his stubbornness 🤬

Who says it was Raggy?

Daily Mail article makes out McCarthy is the issue big time and it’s a bit alarming players are “confused” by his tactics/system.

Nice one Jack 👍.

Maybe Raggy will spill during the podcast, I’m assuming they will do one this evening.

From what I've heard - everyone involved is proper up for the fight for survival. Hopefully MM picks the team that we all want and gives us the chance to do it.
I havnt posted here for a while Mark-GT, this season has been proper pants. Ground me down a little as regards the pool. For some reason though I'm feeling revived - feeling right up for it. Backs against the walls etc. What else have we got but hope at present - come on the pool!!!

Maybe West Ham, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton etc who are all having a bad run, will think this was a great initiative by our board & follow suit? 🤣 I pray for everyone's sake that this works, we get three points tomorrow & go on a run that keeps us up 🙏🧡 UTMP

I really hope there was no sycophantic crap in the meeting. So respect yes, in the way any human deserves but the 2 lads needed to be blunt. Very blunt.

It does feel a little bit BSA though - it shouldn’t remotely need to be done. If the players don’t already get it then god help us.

I quite frankly despair of our club at times.
I'm sorry, I don't know Ragozzino but why him?
I remember his tweets when he stood as an Independent Candidate for election and they were the ramblings of someone who I don't think should be a voice piece or a representative of our fan base. Where are BST in all of this? The elected fan base of the club? Surely if the club and players want to hear fans views they go through official bodies rather than bring in someone who I watched on the Podcast last week and whilst he was right on a number of points, half his points were inane and reckless.
The rest about MM not being there, players having to answer questions, the fact he has supposedly brought out an audio recording of what went on just rings alarm bells for me.
I know I'll get shot down but it all feels very tinpot to me

My son picked the audios up and played them to me.
One short clip saying he had been summoned to the club due to the threat of people descending on squires gate (club were threatening to cancel training).
Then the meeting in two halves. Mostly rousing stuff about the club's history, why the fans are so involved and how the fans believe in the players. A couple of digs about the east stand going fully to the away fans (got an interesting reaction from the players). Then some things said after the players had left that probably got closer to the bone about MM and TC, although the players did say that the training was good and intense, more so then they were used to.

Who made BST the fans spokes people. Thought that was the job of the supporters liaison officer.

...and they got pilloried for it. Football wise, circumstances were just as they are now. But if it helps and has a positive effect then fine.

Totally and utterly bizarre, why on earth would the club allow two random fans to meet with players. Are these two coaches, are they experienced? Probably no, so why? To tell the players how upset they are, I’m pretty sure the players know we’re not happy, so again why?

This is just another, “what is happening to our club“ for me. Unprofessional to say the least.

On reflection of this weeks developments: Can our season get any more bizarre or any worse (other than relegation)?
We're a professional football club in the 2nd tier of English football, yet the bizarre goings on just keep occuring - what 's going to happen next?
Steven Spielberg could make an epic out of this season alone.
The Nobbers must be p*ssing themselves!

At least BSA released minutes instead of this secrecy bollocks that appears to have descended.

Not much ** point if no one tells us what was ** said by two specially selected anonymous fans.

It's all utter bollocks to be frank.

Just finished listening to it all and it was all very positive before people go on about this and that about him have a listen before getting all keyboard warrior.

Totally agree with all the above and this is to do with the club and not Raggy - their judgement calls and the way the club is being run at the moment is a joke. Text me and I'll send audio is maybe a low point!

It's not Raggy people are questioning here it's the judgement and the calls that the club are making .. and they are getting more and more bizarre. The question is who is actually in charge?!

I’m a bit on the fence with this and deliberating if it’s + or -. Maybe I don’t know the full story and I’ve not listened to the audio.

I love Raggy n Higgy and all they’ve done over the years, gone through and are still doing. Tangerine through and through for sure. If I was to send 2 supporters in, they’d probably be the 2, maybe plus TimmyTwoScarves or BFC BFC BFC who talk with passion and common sense.

What doesn’t feel right is MM wasn’t there, yet the players were. So great getting the players up for it (should not be an an issue with the money they earn and under perform) but what is the point if the manager tells them this is how it is going to be tomorrow.

On the whole I feel the players do put a shift in but they are tied by tactics and as I’ve felt for 6 months - their ability.

Makes tomorrow all the more interesting to hear the team, how we set up and I’ll add a few extra beers in pre match.

Well done from trying this, let’s hope we reap the rewards. At least you’ve tried lads.

UTP!
