Gerrard wants Critch

Yes.... Although £2M would be a pretty ridiculous offer and quite out of kilter with what you'd normally expect (relative to the position)... £1M would be more in line with my expectation.

It's a big decision of course, but throwing your lot in with a loser like Gerrard also has to be balanced into the equation. At the minute Critchley has a repair job to do in order to re-establish himself and, if it were me, I'd rather have that in my own hands, rather than someone else's.

He's also financially secure enough to no longer need to jump for the money.
I hope you’re right with that last comment. I imagine the Villa and QPR payoffs we’re relatively sizeable - but that Saudi money is on a whole different scale.

I would be very disappointed in him if he left. First time around he gave you two full seasons, took you up then kept you up. Even so a lot of bile had to be swallowed by your supporters to welcome him back. I don't blame any player for taking the Saudi millions but Neil Critchley needs to think long and hard about how quitting within weeks would play out in the long run.

If he's going to go go now, before I put any money on Blackpool for the coming season.
Don't put any money on us Machem, I've lost too much doing that and now know better.

If Critch did leave to go to the desert I could only laugh my cock off! It would be so "Blackpool", If it's true, there is no way anyone would turn that sort of money down and it really would be hilarious 😂😂

The problem with jobs like this is that the wages are likely to be mad crazy…millions even for an assistant probably. Money talks and our paltry wage deal will be nothing in comparison. Sadler is going to have more egg on his face than an explosion in an omelette factory!

I wouldn’t blame him for leaving for 10x his wage and more nice compo for us… if he’s going do it sooner so it doesn’t hinder prep so much.

Can't see this happening at all but...

I wonder how much compo we would be due?

Just signed a 4 year deal, got decent compo last time and this time will have been prepared for it this time.

Given who's potentially coming in for him it would have to be big.

Didn't we get 2-3m from Villa?

Double and he's yours, infact he can then sign some of our players for big money.

This could be the jackpot we've been waiting for guys 👍

Would have happened already. Gerrard been there for a week and will have been discussing his staff prior to joining. Anything Nixon has heard is older than Critch being at Southport on Friday

The bigger question would be whether Critch’s deal has the kind of get-out clause it had last time, particularly pertaining to jobs other than head coach/manager. Also what the financial figure attached to it is

I'm not convinced it would be the most 'Ambitious Decision' financially either. Certainly not over the longer term.
Everything a risk in football, what if he does badly with us and is potted by Christmas, he's out of a jobwe lose money and are manager lees. If he goes Gerrad could easily do well in that sort of false environment and could do well and be there for 3 or 4 years and Quitch would be absolutely quids in, that's the other side of the coin Daz.

I HONESTLY THINK IT'S ALL A MONSTROUS BLAG, AND SOMEBODY'S TAKING THE PISS.
If anybody writing a comment on this was Stevie Gerrard, and with money being no object and anybody to pick from, would you really trust Neil Critchley to do a good job as your No.2/coach, after Aston Villa, and his shambleezay at QPR, because I certainly wouldn't.
After the way Neil Critchley left us last season, I thought that Simon Sadler needed his bumps reading to re-appoint him. If NC goes with SG to Saudi, I would hope Simon Sadler makes Stephen Dobbie the manager immediately and ask him to bring his own coach/No.2 with him, create another two week window for earlybird season tickets, I then predict more season tickets than we sold last season.
Personally, if I was Simon Sadler, I would have made Stephen Dobbie the manager after winning three of the last six games of the season, and try to bring back Steve Thompson as his coach/No.2.

i don't think it's just about 'risk' of failing in his job, which could happen either way.. Though I doubt he anticipates failing!!

Of course, at Blackpool he is in control of his own future and his success or failure, whereas in Saudi his success or failure would be tied in with Gerrard, which didn't exactly work out last time around.

By leaving us in the lurch and jumping so early in a job, he also suffers huge reputational damage and potentially closing the door completely on his career as a Number 1. Future suitors are going to think twice before appointing a bloke who has such little regard for a contract.

In regards to people saying Gerrard blamed Crichley for the Villa fiasco, does anyone have the link to what he actually said?
I think that is urban myth and was never said.

He didn't actually name him, when asked about their poor results he said something along the lines of 'we made changes to the coaching team during the summer and they have tried to implement changes too quickly'.

He will just follow Gerrard around for the rest of his career then. If he has been offered an obscene amount of money you are going to give it serious consideration.

It doesn’t seem obvious to me after everything that’s gone on before. In fact I’d be more surprised this time than last.
Having reflected I’m split on this as from a purely financial point of view he, and his family, will be set for life and if we are being honest that is a priority for all of us so for purely financial reasons I can see why he would go. From a football and reputational perspective it’s career suicide, if he jumps ship again 47 days after being re-appointed and all the ‘im committed to this club’ etc particularly in his Radio Lancs interview no club will touch him in a managerial role ever again. His reputation will be in tatters and will I feel never recover. From a coaching point of view with the quality of some of the players going over and his ‘passion’ for developing young players in not sure it’s a step up to be honest. What does need to happen is this needs putting to bed one way or the other - either he goes and we appoint super quick or he stays and the club issue a statement from Critch to that effect. If I was to put my 50p on it though I think he might just go!

I won’t be as bitter if he goes this time he’ll have my full support. 👍

The guys a snake like I said far better managers/coaches out there one of them looks after our development squad Blackpool through and through. 👍
He's that Blackpool through and through he was never our player.

I’ve been wondering when this would hit the forum, as I was asked about this on Wednesday by a contact in the States. I laughed it off, but also said nothing would surprise me.

If I were SS and it was true, I’d be securing a very large fee for squad improvement and driving Critch to the airport.
So had your US "contact" 😉 actually heard any whispers about a Gerrard/Quitch double act or was it just the obvious speculation?

I can't find the link, but he didn't directly blame Critchley. What he said wast that Beale leaving was a problem because Critchley is very diffrent to Beale and didn't manage to get the same rapport with the players that Beale had. People took that as Gerrard having a dig at Critch, but it wasn't really like that.

Would Judas walk out again ?
Would you walk out on your job if someone offered you treble or even quadruple your wages?

A no brainer for me Saudi is a shit hole trust me having been several times but a couple of years sticking it out In the desert you can retire early and have no financial worries ever again.

Just like I did. 😃

Jesus Christ, here we go again!...........Whether or not there's any substance to this or not Both Critchley & Sadler need too very publicly address this speculation NOW! It needs nipping in the bud to end it one way or the other!
The usual press blackout/silence on anything seen as slightly negative from the club will cause immense fan unreast AGAIN & seriously undermine the work the club have been doing to repair the damage done by Critchley's desertion last time around!
