Happy Valley

Tommy Lee actor for me was the star of the show

Couldn’t believe I was actually feeling sorry for him towards the end and stared rooting for him

Great actor
Definitely. I remember watching the first HV series, about the same time BBC showed a decent adaptation of War & Peace, Norton was playing a Russian Count. Must have gone straight from one part to the other, and they were about as far apart in character as it could be.

He's very impressive.

Yes , the Mrs saw HV ( season 1) the first time it was on, and she said he was excellent then. It perhaps helped to kick start his career, as he got a lot of roles after that, the main one being Grantchester as a mild mannered vicar. Very different roles as you say.

Agree the pharmacist storyline was a non event was pointless having that storyline in at all maybe should have had a episode resolving that before this one .It was a good plot and just feel it was a anticlimax with how good the rest was

Enjoyed the series as a whole, though the first series is still the best for me.

Third def had its moments but I echo what most have said in here; the multiple plot lines seemed to conclude quite quickly in the end. The teacher randomly being a wrong 'un with a student, getting caught for it and then alluding to Faisal being caught all in the closing couple of minutes felt a bit rushed and underwhelming. It sort of felt a little stuck in between those stories that weren't as convincingly concurrent as the previous two series, if that makes sense.

Lancashire/Norton were great as per!

yeh, in effect that storyline was pointless other than being an episode filler. I'm glad it ended in the way it did as there was a slight bit of redemption for Tommy. Better the way it happened than in a blaze of glory bullet ridden shoot out.

Did anyone notice that nobody phoned the police to say "There are three bodies in a field..." or did I miss it?

I can’t remember the specifics but it did come out during the episode. Unfortunately it is another example of a storyline not really being given much airtime.

Could have given the other storyline its own episode. It was inferred at the end that the pharmacist was going to get found out but would they have been able to pin the murder on him just because he was supplying her with diazepam? The blood fingerprint and history of abuse would still put the husband as the main suspect.

Don’t really understand why Catherine would go in to confront TLR given she had no knowledge of his injury’s and was suspected of carrying a firearm. But I suppose they had to have that final showdown.

The thought of Happy Valley and Sarah Lancashire never grabbed me over the years but after reading this thread I took the plunge and binge watched all three series over a few days last week. Mrs H was deep into love Island but I kept nudging her to watch HV.

What’s it about she says? It’s ‘Emmerdale on steroids’ luv. That did the trick and she’s halfway through series 2!

Presumably “Happy Valley” is an ironic title? Is there any character in it who is not as miserable as sin? It’s the most depressing thing I have seen in quite a while. Not my cup of tea at all.
Agree more like death valley, but i have to say i enjoyed it brilliant acting ,and character acting 👍and⭐⭐⭐from me.

Finally saw the last episode last night and though it was the last 'ever' Happy Valley, it wouldn't surprise me if a spin off is planned.

It was the last ever episode. I don’t think they’ll do anything else with it as TLR has died and Catherine retired.

Tonight at 9, BBC 1.

Whose in ?

👍 from me.

And going forward this is a safe space for you to discuss all things Happy Valley 🥹 cast, plot, acting, script ……..

Happy New Years 😆
Only read the O/P been bad weather on The Costa Del Sol this week.
Binged watched series one & series two just got last weeks to watch tonight on Amazon Prime.
My girlfriend has been telling me I don’t know what I’m missing & 200 plus posters can be wrong🤣
I thought series one was a bit far-fetched and unrealistic (I know it’s a fictional drama🤣)
Really enjoyed the second series as it focused more on detective side and Police drama which I like.
My girlfriend comes over tomorrow for 4 days so we can watch S3 E2 together both up to date.
Will read thread tomorrow too👍😀

May
That is very well written and acted too Allez to be honest. Sally Wainwright again.

Doesn’t have the dramatics required to keep a lot of men tuned in though.

Definitely more for the girls I thought and very good too.
Maybe it's my feminine side 😊
