Hartlepool v Blackpool Official FA Cup Matchday Thread 08.01.22

Doubt Sadler will see it that way. An opportunity to progress and get some glamour, oh and funds.
Of course it was an opportunity.

We didn't take it.

Still half way in the Championship though, on a very low Championship budget.

You struggle to give Critch credit don't you?

We won't be the first or last higher league side to get dumped out of the cup but that 2nd half performance was unfathomable! Its our own fault though, we must have missed at least 4 sitters and the game should have been over at h/t.

Fair play to Hartlepool they were really up for it 2nd half and we couldn't or didn't play our football.

Well that was an utter disgrace. Absolutely zero positives. Injuries and confidence dented. Whoever works on set pieces needs sacking.
What the coaching staff get paid for is anyones guess. We can all see our set pieces and shooting are dog shite, but they apparently either don’t agree or aren’t able to do anything about it.

I think Critchley is very lucky in the fact that Simon Sadler brought him in, we love Sadler.
Can you imagine if Oyston had brought Critchley in and we had been on the current run of results? People would be screaming for his head.

What a ridiculous post. Critchley got us promoted and has us in mid table looking good for another season. No-one called for Grayson's head and his first season in the Championship wasn't as comfortable as this one.

If that doesn't convince Sadler and Critchley to strengthen this window, I don't know what will. To miss that many chances is criminal, no matter how poor our delivery or defending, I make that 5 gilt edge chances I would expect to score from.

Second half was abysmal unlucky with a deflection unlucky with injuries again, not unlucky with defending.

Useless with finishing, absolutely useless passing an touches.

No know how of what to do back to the keeper from their half time after time.

Usless balls in.

Poor headers from long balls from them, we head to no-one rathe than a directional header.

Useless kick offs that hoof it forward.

Absolute garbage today, wanted a cup run and no wonder we never get one.

Now the players who don't usually play must be thinking what do I have to do to get a start, Moore? Casey etc.

Questions need answering about today.

That was a dire display.

No excuses.

If I was Critchley (and Sadler) I'd be fecking livid.

What has Jerry done wrong to not get a start in a game like this.

CJ Hamilton has been utter gash!
Not that good!!

Shambles and poor displays from all
They didn’t seem to want it enough

Critchley has got to toughen up and sometimes ditch the nice guy image

But CJ ‘s contribution: missed chances mishit passes must be one of the worst all time displays of a tangerine player

Need to get rid of quite a few and get some new blood in

That truly is a disgraceful performance. Lost to a team who have won 1 game in 8 in League Two. Critchley has to go after that for me
It’s not Critchley’s fault. The players were a damn disgrace, they need to take a long hard look at themselves. CJ is an insult to our shirt, he should never play for us again. He’s not even park football standard. Do our club a favour CJ and just effing leave!!

4 certain goals thrown away 2 for Lavery and 2 for C J put them both in front of goal for 8 hours tomorrow to try and hit the nets if they miss one slap there legs and set them off on another 8 hr stint they were both crap Sunday league stuff and that's being generous to them.

Very poor result there's no escaping that. When you miss so many gilt-edged chances what can you do. Midfield is a massive concern and has been most of the season tbh, I really hope the Brannagan signing happens. We have some effective forward in Yates, Bowler, Madine, and usually Lavery (ok he had a mare today but he's usually much better), but we have no-one that's effective at getting the ball to these players with any kind of accuracy or consistency. Our midfield can battle, and provide cover for the defence usually, but it's really poor on the ball. That's what needs to be sorted out this January if nothing else.

Quite straight forward. We are very wasteful with chances.
I’m not sure what you can do from a coaching standpoint when players are missing from 5 yards into an open net.

Lavery, Hamilton and Bowler all had gilt edge chances.

3-0 min at half time, you can then bring on the kids

Lavery joined us with a terrier-like confidence. Hamilton used to be able to cross. Bowler's shooting hasn't got any better. Set pieces continue to be dismal.
Quite what positive coaching is happening at Blackpool?
As I have been saying all season, no positive coaching at all, sideways backwards, sideways. We go backwards faster than an Italian general.

Painful. Painful. Painful. Two clear chances missed in each half is the story of the game. Hartlepool played well in the second half. Concentrate on .....oh, bugger.

Lower conference finishing today.

It was pathetic, a shambles with no shape or cohesion.

If Lavery gets in ahead of Jerry in the league, then my faith in Critch’s judgement will be over.

I’d have preferred to just go out, rather than the embarrassment of throwing all strikers on and still losing.

Connolly, against a L2 team, looked like a National League player. He has zero ability on the ball and Kenny needs help now.

Without Keshi’s class we are well short. Losing Hubby is another big blow, as he’s head & shoulders better than Garbutt.
